THE DEFILED have just released their latest video for ‘As I Drown’, which is taken from their Nuclear Blast debut album, ‘Daggers’ which was released in August this year.
The video can be seen here:
THE DEFILED keyboardist The AvD comments:
“‘As I Drown’ was one of the first songs written for this album. We had been playing it live for more than a year before we even booked the studio to record ‘Daggers’. It’s about a certain record company executive that brought The Defiled to a stand still for whole year. The Defiled is the most important thing in our lives so we took that very seriously.”
Frontman Stitch D also adds:
“We shot this video in a mountain range in the north of England in the middle of winter. The wind was insane to the point of constantly blowing the drums and amps over even though we used rocks to hold them down. It was a fun day shooting but a very tough one.”
THE DEFILED head out on tour this week in support of Motionless In White and will play the following dates.
SEPT 12 DUBLIN – ACADEMY
SEPT 13 BELFAST – MANDELA HALL
SEPT 14 GLASGOW – GARAGE
SEPT 15 NEWCASTLE – O2 ACADEMY 2
SEPT 16 MANCHESTER – ACADEMY 2
SEPT 18 LEEDS – COCKPIT
SEPT 19 NOTTINGHAM – RESCUE ROOMS
SEPT 20 BIRMINGHAM – O2 ACADEMY 2
SEPT 21 LONDON – THE FORUM
SEPT 22 BRISTOL – THE FLEECE
SEPT 23 PORTSMOUTH – WEDGEWOOD ROOMS

In a recent chat with BW&BK’s Carl Begai, CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman Alexi Laiho talked about the band’s move from Universal to Nuclear Blast for their new album, Halo Of Blood:
BW&BK: Was the move a case of the band’s contract running out, or feeling like a number on a large label like Universal rather than an actual living, breathing band trying to make a living?
Laiho: “It was both, really. The contract expired and we did want to move to a smaller label. Nuclear Blast was one of our top choices because it’s a real metal label, and as far as priorities go Children Of Bodom is a bigger goddamn priority than we were at Universal. That makes a big difference at the end of the day.”
BW&BK: Was being part of the Universal roster beneficial for the band? Once you cross the threshold from smaller labels (Spinefarm, Nuclear Blast) to the big leagues there really is the danger of becoming just another name on a long list of record company projects.
Laiho: “It actually did help in many areas, but the problem was that the label kept changing all the time in certain countries. For one album there would be a Universal sub-label in the States or Germany, and they did a great job for that one album, but then we’d have to deal with a whole set of different people for the next album and they didn’t give a flying fuck about us. We never knew who the hell we were going to work with, so that was the main problem we had at Universal.”

Nuclear Blast have announced the following news about the new HELL album and revealed its title to be “Curse And Chapter:”
Risen from their own legacy, having disbanded in 1987, HELL were reincarnated in 2011 with the addition of Andy Sneap (guitar) and David Bower (vocals) joining original members Kev Bower (Guitar and Keys), Tony Speakman (bass) and Tim Bowler (drums). Now the British quintet is about the release the follow-up to its highly acclaimed debut »Human Remains« (Nuclear Blast 2011). The sophomore offering of the band, »Curse And Chapter« will also be released via Nuclear Blast on November 22nd 2013.
»Curse And Chapter« will include a bonus DVD, offering 6 songs from their show at the Darwin Suite Assembly Rooms in Derby, on February 23rd, 2013. As a first lead-off single, HELL will release ‘The Age Of Nefarious’.
Commented Sneap on the upcoming release: “We’ve been working solid on the album for the last couple of months between gigs, although we’ve been demoing to a good standard over the last year or so. This time around the album consists of around 50% old material 50% new. We really see this as a band that’s moving forward rather than a nostalgia trip, obviously there’s a lot of history within the band, but there’s also a whole world of ideas we want to get out. We have this week left tracking, 4 more vocals and bass to get down, 2 more songs of guitar and then mix. I’m super happy with how things are shaping up, it feels more like a band on this record to me than the first, which I guess is just a natural progression of everyone playing together a lot more over the last couple of years.”
Concerning the lyrical content, vocalist David Bower added: “Alongside some of our favourite themes of historical, political and religious persecution, intolerance and prejudice, you will find some good old fashioned myths and legends being invoked and reinterpreted in our own inimitable way. We also have some songs in which the listener will be implicitly invited to solve the clues contained in the lyrics in order to find the meaning of the stories for themselves. Being completely aware that many people interpret things in ways that writers do not expect as a matter of course, it seemed logical to take that idea a little further. “
About the album title Bower explains: “It’s a hellish play on words of the English saying chapter and verse, and also a reference to a song lyric in ‘The Age Of Nefarious’, the opening track on the record.”
