With their enticing third single, Siberian dark folklore frontrunners NYTT LAND finally unveil their new EP, Ritual: Blood of the West, coming out today, November, 18 22022. “The Blues of Ragnarok”, was originally released on their latest album Ritual, and has been reworked in western-inspired ways. Releasing the new transformation of the song, the duo combines their captivating signature throat singing with rhythmic sounds, matching guitar riffs and melodic elements, immediately drawing the listener into its ethereal soundscape.
NYTT LAND state on “The Blues Of Ragnarok”: “I think we made the best soundtrack for Ragnarok. Drink your moonshine and let’s go dancing with the spirits under the big silver moon.”
Following their traditions and connection to nature, NYTT LAND directs its powers toward a new territory, leaving behind the rough lands of the north and embarking on a sonic journey in five transfixing songs. NYTT LAND ventures into dark, western frontiers with their upcoming EP, Ritual: Blood of the West, to be released digitally via Napalm Records on November 18, 2022. Based on tracks from their latest album, Ritual, that has been reworked in gothic folk and western-inspired styles. Staying thematically faithful to ancient legends and adapting to the temperate sounds of the west, opening song “Dark Country Ritual” not only displays NYTT LAND’s dedication to their own legacy, but opens the EP with an enchanting, ambient new sound, rising and falling like smoke. On “Song of U-Gra” the band flexes its trademark vocal approach with summoning chants that gently carry the listener away to another mental state, conveying more tranquil versions of the originals without losing their depth and ancient thematic significance. “Dead Man’s Ballad” tells its story like a coyote howling at the moon, offering a mysterious yet soothing blend of guitar and vocals that reinterpret the band’s dark folk essence. “Blood of the West” closes the EP with acoustic guitar instrumentals that summon the spirits of the west and leaves the listener enchanted, induced in the serene, ancient sounds of the grasslands.
NYTT LAND on the new EP: “We’ve said many times that country and blues music are some of our favorite music genres. This EP is our tribute and memory to those great musicians who stood at the very origins of American country and blues music, those whose music inspires us daily. For us, working on this album has become the most unusual, but at the same time extremely interesting experience. And we really love that we did it!”
NYTT LAND release the second single from their upcoming EP, Ritual: Blood of the West, to be released digitally via Napalm Records on November, 18 2022. “Song of U-Gra” was originally released on their latest album Ritual, and has been reworked in western-inspired ways. This new interpretation once again immerses powerful throat singing with the soothing sounds of acoustic guitars. This mythical combination of storytelling and smooth guitar riffs offers a new approach without neglecting their legacy.
NYTT LAND state on “Song of U-Gra”: “This video repeats the plot of the original song in meaning, and this version of the song and the video were made to express our respect for the Native Americans, in addition to showing the cultural relationship of the indigenous peoples of Siberia and America. The tribes of the American Indians are the descendants of the Siberian tribes who migrated to the territory of America during the ice age fifteen thousand years ago.”

Last month, Nordic dark folk duo NYTT LAND released their new album Ritual, delivering a thrilling piece of Scandinavian and Siberian folklore and culture. Today, the Russian duo comes through with an astonishing official music video for “Blood of the North” that brings the spiritual journey of Ritual full circle.
The core element of “Blood of the North” is the talharpa, continiously humming a mystic melody, accompanied by bells, accentuating the footsteps of an arcane shaman. Followed by tension-rising drums, the journey reaches its final destination. The ambient soundscape of “Blood of the North” builds on trance-like visuals and a dark sound that truly feels like a ritual – a silent spell, spoken without words, shallowly cast upon you.
NYTT LAND on their new video: “This instrumental track is a culmination of the album Ritual. A very deep, epic composition plunging into a trance with the beats of drums and the hoarse voice of talharpa.
The visualization of this composition was conceived even before the release of the album. Exactly like that. With mystic, faceless imagery and nature as the most important part of NYTT LAND’s creativity.”

Russian Nordic folk and ambient project NYTT LAND offer a dark, otherworldly experience with their new seventh studio album, Ritual, out now via Napalm Records.
This eight-song rarity tell tales of gods and heroes, born centuries ago and preserved in traditions, expressed in a unique sonic experience that can best be described by the duo itself as shamanic dark folk. On Ritual, NYTT LAND effortlessly pulls listeners into a world of ancient percussive instrumentation and vocal tradition. Thematically, their work echoes many stories from Norse mythology and historic texts such as the Poetic Edda.
NYTT LAND state: “All our songs are, first of all, our personal experience, how we perceive reality around us. Ritual is the release of inner, primal energy through music, words, dances and images. This is what the world and the universe was born into. And we want to share our part of this energy with you.”
With their new album Ritual being unveiled to the world this Friday, August 6 via Napalm Records, NYTT LAND offer another glimpse into their haunting and unique world of Shamanic Dark Folk!
Just as NYTT LAND begins “Svartravn” with mysterious whispers, the listener is pulled into the melancholic atmosphere of the song – a true display of NYTT LAND’s Shamanic Dark Folk. Experimental vocal technique meets deep, stomping percussive instrumentation inspired by ancient Siberian and Northern European culture. NYTT LAND are a truly unique duo and have rightfully earned millions of cross-platform streams with their authentic, traditional take on folk music.
NYTT LAND about the video for “Svartravn”: “’Svartravn’ for us is one of the most melodic and most dramatic songs in the new album. A lot of emotions are associated with it in the process of composing and recording. And undoubtedly, this energy is very accurately visualized in the video created for this song. In Russia there is a very famous 19th century kozak’s ballad, called ‘Black Raven’. And when we found the text that formed the basis of the song ‘Svartravn’, we were simply amazed that it says the same thing as in this Russian ballad. Therefore, this song got its name exactly ‘Svartravn’ – from the Icelandic language it is precisely ‘Black Raven’ that is translated.”

NYTT LAND adds about the animation in the “Svartravn” music video: “The work on the video for the song opened up the opportunity for us to work with the talents of the Siberian artist Ksenia Shcherbinina (Instagram: @kseniash_art) and the animation designer Alexander Golovko. A truly colossal work has been done, each frame of the clip is drawn by hand to bring to life the epic northern legend of betrayal and revenge, valor and fearlessness in the face of death. And of course, we all look forward to continuing our cooperation. And maybe soon we will meet again with the heroes created by Ksenia and Alexander to find out the continuation of this story, which was born in the work on the song ‘Svartravn’.”
Ritual is a previously uncharted display of intense, dark folk music inspired by NYTT LAND’s unique, authentic and ancient Siberian culture. If bands like Wardruna, Heilung or Runahild ensnare your senses, then you must prepare for this Ritual!
In celebration of the release of Ritual, NYTT LAND will perform their new album live on August 13 at 8:00PM CET/2:00PM EDT via the Napalm Records YouTube channel – make sure to join the Ritual and experience this one of a kind musical performance!
NYTT LAND’s ancient shamanic culture is palpable on songs like “U-Gra” – based on the legend of the Siberian native tribe known as Khanty. It tells the story of the guardian spirits of the tribe’s homeland as somber ritual chants at the start of the song ask the spirits to be kind to their people and help them retain their lands. An atmospheric, meditative journey accompanied by an enthralling percussive section accents the unmatched, unique throat singing layers of NYTT LAND vocalists Natasha “Baba Yaga” Pakhalenko and Anatoly “Shaman” Pakhalenko. “Svartravn” seamlessly continues this vibe while introducing melancholic string sections, telling the story of a warrior dying on the battlefield with a crow circling him, awaiting his coup de grace. The dying warrior tells the crow about his worthy life and the deeds that he performed, and that he is not afraid of death, asking the raven to take the news of his death to his family. Underlying themes on Ritual become apparent in NYTT LAND’s artistic entity, pulled together by mysterious, haunting visuals while still welcoming the listener into their spiritual world. Songs like “Dead Man’s Dance” and “Blood Of The North” showcase the Nordic folk-driven roots of NYTT LAND, while the duo takes the genre to new levels on “The Fires of Ragnarok”.
NYTT LAND on the record: “Our new album is a big story, a long way – from the harsh, snowy fjords of ancient Scandinavia – to the endless expanses of the great Siberian taiga. Having chosen life in a small Siberian village, we are inspired by nature, its eternal, primordial life force. And this inspiration finds expression in our music.”

Just recently signed with Napalm Records, Russian Nordic folk/ambient project NYTT LAND offer a dark, otherworldly experience with their new seventh studio album, Ritual, out August 6. Today, the shamanic dark folk outfit reveals their second single and video for “U-Gra”!
Based on the tale of the ancient Siberian tribe known as Khanty, NYTT LAND transform their culture into a musical journey through their spiritual traditions. Their deep, ambient atmosphere makes NYTT LAND a truly unique duo in folk, and has earned them many millions of streams across all platforms to date!
NYTT LAND about the video: “’U-Gra’ has become a special song for us, as this is our dedication to ancient Siberia. Since it was in antiquity that the lands of the Western and central part of Siberia were called “Ugra”. Ugorian land. The ancestral home of several European peoples – Finns, Hungarians and Sami. Song ‘U-Gra’ is based on the ancient legend of the Siberian native tribe Khanty. It tells the story of the guardian spirits of the land where the tribe lives. At the beginning and the end of the song, a real ritual conspiracy of spirits sounds, in which the shaman asks them to be kind to their people, help people and keep the land on which the tribe lives. And our seven-year-old son Yuri played one of the main roles in the video ‘U-Gra’.”
