After recently introducing a new line-up and making a powerful comeback from a brief hiatus with the track “Killer & The Queen”, Finnish heavy metal band OCEANHOARSE continues to forge ahead with the launch of their newest single, “Logos”.
The release is accompanied by an intense new video, which can be seen here:
“This song is one big jin and jang. It starts with the most aggressive music we have made but changes into a mystical spring rain kinda vibe“, OCEANHOARSE drummer Oskari Niemi states.
Bassist Silver Ots adds: “The RIFF catches you by the throat immediately and the song eases only in the middle section where it turns the jet engines off and goes gliding in the night sky. This is of course followed by an ass-ripping guitar solo and eventual crash-and-burn-heavy riff leaving no survivors.“
After a brief hiatus, Finnish heavy metal band OCEANHOARSE has returned, more powerful than ever, unveiling a fresh music video and a renewed band lineup! With a surge of new energy, a redefined sound, and a fresh perspective, the Heavy Metal quartet is excited to reveal the musical concoction they’ve been brewing in secrecy over the past year. Today marks the debut of their new single “Killer & the Queen” and the official introduction of bassist Silver Ots.

“There was a lot of inner turmoil within the band around the release of our previous album ‘Heads Will Roll’, which escalated with the exit of bassist Jyri Helko”, guitarist Ben Varon explains. “I was also running pretty low motivation-wise, and needed a few months to take a breather and find the excitement for the music again. But it was soon clear to me, Joonas (Kosonen, vocals) and Oce (Oskari Niemi, drums) that we wanted to continue the band and still make music together. And I knew just the right guy to call for bass duties.”
Enter Silver Ots, Ben’s old partner in crime from his previous band Amoral.
“Silver and me go way back, I believe we were 15 when we formed Amoral. I have always regarded him as one of the best riff composers in metal, so I knew the value that he would bring to the band with his songwriting in addition to his ridiculously tight bass playing. And the proof is in the pudding, all you need to do is to listen to ‘Killer & The Queen’, for which Silver composed the music for!”, Bencontinues.
“I met the guys at a crossroads”, says Silver Ots. “After the band going full speed for so long there was a wind of change in the air. We decided to take the time, reflect back and look ahead, find a mutual vibe and see what we can come up with together. What you hear now is one of the pieces of new music we’ve been cooking up this past year.”
“Killer & the Queen showcases the more groovy side of the ‘Hoarse”, says vocalist Joonas Kosonen. “Lyrically, the song is about those enemies very close to you. So close you can’t even see them coming. We’re super proud of this one, and we feel reborn after going through hellfire. A bit of dissonance sure makes art come alive!”, Joonas summarizes.
“Killer & The Queen” was mixed and mastered by Lauri Hämäläinen, who also co-produced and recorded the vocals. For the video, OCEANHOARSE returned to Guilty Visuals and Pete Inkinen, who they had worked with previously on the video for “Pryopen”. The cover artwork for the single was drawn by Samuli “Skrymer” Ponsimaa.

Finnish four-piece OCEANHOARSE, who released their sophomore studio album “Heads Will Roll” in February 2023 via Noble Demon, follows up today with a brand new single release, a cover version of Metallica’s “The Four Horsemen”. The track is accompanied by a brand new lyric video, which you can watch below.
Guitarist Ben Varon about the song: “A little tip we took from Metallica is to start the recording session for a new album with a cover song. It’s less stressful than trying to record one of the originals right away, and it’s a great and fun way to set the sound and get comfortable with the room. This song was recorded during the recording of our last album ‘Heads Will Roll’, and we think it turned out pretty cool! We hope Het & the guys like it!“

Finnish heavy metallers OCEANHOARSE have released their highly anticipated sophomore studio album “Heads Will Roll” via Noble Demon. With eleven brand new tracks, the album seamlessly picks up where its predecessor “Dead Reckoning” (2021) left off and even goes one step further! “Heads Will Roll” is an album packed with tense arrangements, vocal harmonies and crushing riffs and a must have release for all fans of heavier but dynamic sounds!
Ben Varon on “Heads Will Roll”:
“Heads Will Roll is literally Oceanhoarse 2.0. We kept all the elements we liked the most from our first album, and kept building on that. I think Heads Will Roll is richer in dynamics, hooks, attitude and dirt. This time around we really wanted to capture the live vibe in the studio, so we rehearsed the songs properly and locked ourselves in a nice big studio for a week, where we banged out all the basic tracks together and chose the best takes at the end of the day. Most of what you hear on the album is from those live takes, even down to many of the guitar solos! I think you can really hear the difference, and feel the band as a living, breathing organism executing these songs, warts and all.“
To celebrate “Heads Will Roll” finally being available worldwide, Oceanhoarse have released a brand new lyric video for the album’s opening track “Fall Like Dominoes”.
“Fall Like Dominoes was the obvious choice for the opening track of the album, with its big, epic build-up. I love this song, to me it sounds like a mix between Metallica and Children Of Bodom, with a serious Hoarse-y twist!” Ben Varon comments.

Finnish heavy metallers OCEANHOARSE are gearing up for the release of the band’s sophomore full-length record, entitled “Heads Will Roll”, which will be coming out on February 17th via Noble Demon. In support of the new album, the band has released a video for the new single “Brick”.
“‘Brick’ is what it sounds like to lose your sanity. This is the musical equivalent to a high-speed chase, or a 2-minute 45-second long nightmare. The main riff actually started as this crazy c-part of another song, but then we thought, “why not just build a whole song around this fucked up riff?!” I can definitely hear the influence of late 80’s Megadeth here. Helmets on boys and girls!” Ben Varon comments.
With former and current members of well-known acts like Amoral, Warmen and others, Oceanhoarse have become known as a band that’s willing to explore things in their very own style, instead of sticking to any kind of average formular. Having released their debut studio album “Dead Reckoning” in 2021 (Noble Demon), followed by multiple single releases and extensive touring, the Helsinki based four-piece might be one of the most remarkable and hard working newcomers out there right now. So get prepared for “Heads Will Roll”, an album not to be missed in the year of 2023!

Finnish heavy metallers OCEANHOARSE are proud to present “Carved in Stone” – the 5th single from their upcoming sophomore studio album “Heads Will Roll”, which will be released on February 17th, 2023 on Noble Demon. The song comes with a brand new lyric video, which you can watch here:
Guitarist Ben Varon on “Carved in Stone”: ”Carved in Stone started with a melody written by my old guitar partner in Amoral, Silver Ots. I wanted to write music with him again after a decade-long break, so I asked him to send over any cool stuff he might have lying around. This melody made a big impression on me straight away, and I built a grandiose Oceanhoarse song around it. Lyrically the song is about how much of what we are, what we want and what we strive for is already within us either from since we are born, or from very early on in life.”
