Iranian modern metalcore outfit OUT OF NOWHERE return with ‘Deja Vu’. Their last release ‘Wrong Generation‘ was about iranian women who are fighting in Iran and was premiered on knotfest. This time, the band gets back to its roots. The concept of the track is centered around the destructive influence of technology on human lives.
Frontman Amin Yahyazadeh had this to say about ‘Deja Vu’; ‘In our routine loop of day-to-day life, we all experience moments of familiarity; moments we could have sworn we’ve seen before. Who is to say that those moments haven’t been programmed into our minds before? I think our predestined day-to-day lives are designed to stop us from finding out the true nature of what is actually going on. I would go so far as to say that I think there is a grand plan for not only the course of our lives but also what happens to the universe.’
From a musical standpoint, ‘Deja Vu’ shows that ‘Out of Nowhere’ is a band that’s never afraid to evolve and experiment. By bringing out the ‘Santour’ a traditional Persian instrument and using it alongside their modern-metal style riffing, modern synth layering, and Amin Yahyazadeh’s unique singing style, the band has achieved a duality between the old and the new.
‘Deja Vu’ is a taste of the post-modern philosophical subjects ‘Out of Nowhere’ wants to touch on as well as their signature brand of Modern Metalcore.
‘Deja Vu’ is Out of Nowhere’s latest piece and the first of the yet TBA album which will be revealed soon.
Iranian Metalcore outfit OUT OF NOWHERE released their long-awaited song “Dying Sun” after settling in Istanbul, Turkey, on the 9th of August. Since the premiere of their last music video, “Blind Crow”, on Knotfest’s website, the band has been going through the hardships every immigrant faces. They captured these hardships in their latest creative endeavor, “Dying Sun”. Vocalist Amin says;
‘Dying Sun is closely tied to our immigration which was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do. We had to leave our homes, families, jobs, and friends to pursue what we’ve worked hard for years because there was no room for progress for us in Iran. When we arrived in Turkey, we had to go through a hard process to achieve a decent standard of living which was one of the hardest times for our band. We intended to release new music sooner, but the immigration process didn’t let us do things on schedule. But thankfully, we managed to move through these issues.’

Every immigrant will tell you how hard it is to leave everything behind and start a new life. Their new creative effort, Dying Sun sees Out of Nowhere, transfers all the raw emotions tied to the journey they’ve been through this past year, Amin continues;
‘This song is the chapter in our band’s personal diary about not letting go of our dreams in the face of adversity and working hard for the things we all believe in while also accepting the risks. I hope that Dying Sun will help anyone in a similar situation endure and keep pushing to achieve what they believe in. We chose the name Dying Sun because we are all like suns that move closer to their end each day, but we also try to keep shining despite that.’
The Turkish scene is far superior for local artists than Iran because, unlike in Iran, artists in Turkey are permitted to perform live shows and even perform at big festivals without any unnecessary concerns like government intervention. Out of Nowhere is currently working towards performing local shows in Turkey. Fans should expect several singles and eventually a twelve-song LP in the future.
Dying Sun was mixed and mastered by Joonas Vuojolahti at Cold Truth Music Studios. The music video was made by Darken Rush.
More About The Band:
Out of Nowhere first emerged from the Iranian Metal Scene in 2010. Initially influenced by Nu-Metal and Alternative acts such as System of a Down and Slipknot, they released their first album, “Man Made Disaster”, in 2013. After a brief hiatus, the band decided to evolve their sound by combining their genre with more modern elements to form their 2016 single “Earworm.” In the subsequent years, after growing in popularity in their local scene and also after participating in different music festivals in Iran, they started performing well-known songs by established artists and making changes to these hits to fit Out of Nowhere’s distinct style of Metal, which is their take on “Pop goes Metal”. Some examples of these musical endeavors include their performance of Sia’s “Chandelier”, Bomfunk Mc’s “Live Your Life” and Billie Eilish’s “Lovely”. In 2019 an article from NASA referring to the year when humanity can get its hands on samples from Mars influenced the title of Out of Nowhere’s 2019 Alien-based concept album “2031”. With “2031” the band’s sound shifted to a Djent/Progressive direction by utilizing heavy use of synths on top of breakdowns, solos, and vocals. After this release, Out of Nowhere was involved in a German documentary about Iranian culture commissioned by ZDF. Their interview with the prominent German TV broadcaster shed some light on the difficult situations musicians face in Iran’s society and was broadcast internationally, which still remains one of the band’s proudest moments. In 2020 the band continued releasing singles, starting with their ballad “Hope Is On The Way”. It primarily focuses on self-struggle as well as deep feelings and emotions. They also released their take on Billie Eilish’s “Lovely” in the same year. With their 2021 single “Blind Crow” Out of Nowhere started exploring the heavier side of the musical spectrum by using elements from Deathcore music. MetalSucks premiered the song exclusively on their website while Knotfest premiered the music video of “Blind Crow” on their official website along with an interview.

The oppressive regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran made heavy music illegal inside the country, and metal bands often get arrested for their endeavor. However, regardless of the risk of being imprisoned, Out of Nowhere has actively been releasing music and playing live shows across the country for more than a decade.
“We started 15 years ago in one of the most religious cities in Iran. Despite everyone saying you can’t make it, we didn’t give up on our dreams, so we made the pact that we will make them our goal to make sure we’ll all see a day that our message has been spread around the world. No matter what, no matter how many sticks and stones will get thrown at us,” Out of Nowhere sheds light on their struggle on Knotfest.
“We tried to describe the life cycle from the beginning till the end, painting all the pain and suffering most people carry through their lives — it can be depression, anxiety, or any other mental illness that we live with. We are ambitious enough to set this song as an example of how you can survive no matter how low you think you are right now. Just stay on your path and keep going,” informs the group on the subject of the track.

Their newest single “Blind Crow” is well supplied with suspense, apocalyptic surroundings, violent breakdowns, glass-shattering screams, and syncopated riffs. Crossing the borders of metalcore, djent, alternative rock, and prog, the track upholds the Iranian revolutionists’ ever-evolving sonic dexterity.

In regards to the struggle they face being in a country where metal music is illegal and bands often get arrested for playing live or making music, Out of Nowhere informs:
“Being a metal musician in Iran is a big risk. Starting from the overpriced rare instruments to the risk of being arrested each second. We played some sold-out shows but the risk of being arrested is with us even right now when I’m writing this. It’s a big crime and if they arrest you, there will be years of prison or even in some cases execution for us.
“But we are born to do this, so we accept the risk and do what we love to do.”
Iranian metal duo OUT OF NOWHERE have recently launched a new video for their single ‘Earworm’, featuring Iranian composer and producer Ehsan Imani as guest guitarist. The song was recorded in their home studio and mixed and mastered by Ehsan.
Vocalist Amin Yahyazadeh stated: “We are glad to release this single after 2 years of silence since our first album. As our fans will recognise, our style is a little bit different. We used some djent elements and we are going to even go further, using some elements from jazz and modern music in our future work.”
“When I first heard their debut album, I was immediately amazed by the band’s creativity and talent. Amin is a great singer, he takes his career in music totally seriously, and is very confident and professional in recording sessions. Every recording engineer would love to work with him. Also his songwriting skills are continuously improving, and he always has some fresh and catchy songs up his sleeve, creating exciting times when we meet.” commented Ehsan Imani.
