Former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di’Anno‘s previously announced U.S. tour, which was originally scheduled to kick off in January, was then postponed until May/June, and then pushed back to the end of the year, has now officially been canceled due to issues with the tour’s promoter. Di’Anno states: “My apologies to the American fans who have been let down and to the various promoters who got so badly burnt in this way.”
Di’Anno completed his first North American tour in early 2010, 17 years after he was deported following a prison term for guns and drug offenses.
On August 27, 2011, Di’Anno played his first show since serving time in a U.K. prison after he falsely collected U.K. government benefits by claiming he suffered nerve damage to his back that prevented him from working.
Due to a number of health issues, including a knee problem which will require surgery soon, Di’Anno announced in July 2012 that he would stop touring in 2013.
Michael Salenius, Di’Anno‘s Swedish booking manager and tour manager, told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that 2013 would be “a big, fantastic” last touring year for Paul, with a lot of solo shows, festival appearances and Di’Anno vs. Blaze Bayley concerts. You will also see various guest musicians joining Paul on stage.”
Fan-filmed video footage of Paul Di’Anno‘s July 10 performance at Lilla Torg in Malmö, Sweden can be seen below.
Di’Anno recorded two classic albums with IRON MAIDEN before being fired and replaced by Bruce Dickinson. He went on to front a number of other bands, including KILLERS and BATTLEZONE, and released several solo records.

British heavy metal vocalist Paul Di’Anno (pictured below) has released the following statement regarding the passing of fellow former IRON MAIDEN member, drummer Clive Burr, who died Tuesday night in his sleep at his home at the age of 56 after suffering from multiple sclerosis for many years:
“Sad to hear of your passing. You will always be in my heart, Clive. A truly unique talent that will never be forgotten.”

Clive joined MAIDEN in 1979 and performed on the first three albums — “Iron Maiden” (1980), “Killers” (1981) and “The Number Of The Beast” (1982). Prior to that, he was a member of SAMSON, the band Bruce Dickinson fronted before he, too, joined MAIDEN.

PAUL DI’ANNO (ex-IRON MAIDEN) was scheduled to embark on a US tour through December and January, with his new American band, LONERO, but having waited several months for the US visa to be organised by the booking agent/visa agency in the US, it seemed highly unlikely as far as Di’Anno was concerned that the tour would go as planned. He has now issued the following update:
“Have just received news from the ‘powers that be’ over in the sunshine state, that the visa will not be issued in time, so the tour must be postponed until next year (2013). This is a great shame, but as stated before, is entirely beyond our control. We have been assured that more details will be given by the end of this week, so if/when that happens, it shall be posted on here. Once again, very sorry for this ‘delay.'”

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, a vintage 1980 Christmas card was signed by all five members of IRON MAIDEN — vocalist Paul Di’Anno, bassist Steve Harris, guitarists Adrian Smith and Dave Murray, and drummer Clive Burr — was sold last month for $837.50 on eBay. The four-inch-by-six-inch artwork depicts the bands’ mascot, Eddie, with a blood-stained guitar and portrays Santa Claus slain at his feet. The inside of the card, which was issued as a holiday promo prior to singer Bruce Dickinson‘s coming into the picture, reads: “A Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Oh-Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo.”

Burr joined IRON MAIDEN at the very end of December 1979 and played on the first three albums — “Iron Maiden”, “Killers” and “Number Of The Beast” — and toured extensively with the band over this groundbreaking period before leaving in early 1983. For the past decade, he has been battling multiple sclerosis — a disease of unknown cause. The disorder is causing him intermittent numbness and can affect his balance.
