PERIPHERY have announced their first live album, releasing the 10-song Periphery: Live in Londonon November 13th, 2020, digitally, via Century Media Records.
Periphery comment: “For years Periphery has wanted to do a live record. We’d always talk about it, what show would we capture? When would we do it? What would we want it to sound like? On Nov. 15, 2019 we figured out the answers to those questions by capturing our entire show in London and we couldn’t be more excited to show it to everyone,” explains guitar player Jake Bowen. “London has consistently been one of our favorite places to play and this show was certainly one we’ll never forget, so we present to you our first live album…Periphery: Live in London!”
“Years before Periphery began appearing on festival bills with Metallica and Linkin Park, Mansoor was already something of an Internet celebrity – at least to a particular sect of guitar obsessives. Under his online pseudonym, Bulb, he was a consistent presence both on guitar forums and the MP3 site SoundClick, to which he eventually uploaded more than 100 home-recorded demos and song ideas.” – Rolling Stone
Misha Mansoor, founding member of PERIPHERY and one of modern rock music’s most revered guitar players, is slated to release a ten album collection over the next four months, documenting his pre-Periphery, solo project Bulb.
Bulb is known within guitar circles as the online moniker Mansoor used as he innocently shared demos and playthroughs via fan forums, eventually coming to international attention for his “groundbreaking” guitar playing (Guitar World) via his GRAMMY-nominated and highly influential band Periphery. In the years since, Bulb has become both an enduring nickname as well as a reference to Mansoor’s solo work.
“Diving back into the Bulb archives is something that I’ve wanted to do for years” explained Mansoor about the decision to release his pre-Periphery recordings. “As I began working on what will be a new Bulb album I was reminded of this vast library of unreleased music, music that has only been previously available by seeking out bits and pieces on various forums and media channels. Presenting it in a context that both echoes my original intent with the songs grouped from the time period they were recorded in as well as making it easier for fans to find and enjoy was the driving motivation behind completing this massive undertaking.”
The first album in the 110-song, digitally released collection is titled Archives: Volume 8 and arrives on June 12 via 3DOT Recordings and Century Media Records. The albums are being released bi-weekly in a descending order with the most recent of the Bulb archival material arriving first and subsequent releases leading back to the origin of the project with the ultimate destination of Archives: Volume 1. The release schedule for the Bulb archival recordings is:
Archives: Volume 8 June 12
Archives: Volume 7 June 26
Archives: Volume 6 July 10
Archives: Volume 5 July 24
Orchestral August 7
Archives: Volume 4 August 21
Archives: Volume 3 September 4
Archives: Volume 2 September 18
Archives: Volume 1 October 2
Electronic October 16

It represented the apex of a tireless decade-long grind. Along the way, the band graced the covers of Guitar World, Revolver, Modern Drummer, Bass Player and more. In between the touring, endorsements and appearances, they also launched a summer camp of their own, “Periphery Summer Jam.”

Periphery IV: HAIL STAN marks two significant firsts for the band: the first Periphery release on their recently formed label, 3DOT Recordings, as well as a change in the way they approached writing and recording. “We finally spent a year on a record,” explains guitar player/programmer Jake Bowen. “We’ve never been able to do that. The quality and pacing of the work show we took our time with this one. That’s an important note about this. We really got to do everything we wanted to do in the space we had to do it.” Mark adds, “I think you can hear the adventurous intent behind much of this material as a result. We’re all the happiest we’ve ever been with a release, and it’s no coincidence. Can’t wait for you all to hear it.”

PERIPHERY, the D.C.-based prog innovators who have graced the covers of Modern Drummer, Guitar World and Revolver, return this summer with a new album, “Periphery III: Select Difficulty” which is set for a release via Century Media Records outside of North America, Australia/NZ and Japan on July 22nd, 2016.
“’Periphery III: Select Difficulty’ is finally complete and we’re extremely excited to show everyone,” said guitar player Jake Bowen.“For the past couple of years we’ve been refining our collaborative process as a band and we feel that it’s only getting better with the completion of this album. We spent two months writing songs that are not only representative of the PERIPHERY sound but also reflect where all of us are as musicians, working together has helped us tread new ground musically and creatively. In support of ‘Periphery III’ you’ll see us hit the road in the States this summer with SikTh, Chon, and Toothgrinder on the Sonic Unrest tour, it’s going to be a blast! See you on the road!”
Beforehand the band will head over to the UK to play the prestigious Download Festival on June 12.
PERIPHERY’s own Adam “Nolly” Getgood oversaw production for the album as he did with the “Juggernaut” releases. Nolly will no longer be a touring member of PERIPHERY, as he will be expanding his production work in his native UK. He remains an integral part, and a member, of PERIPHERY. At this time no decision has been made about a touring bassist.
“Touring with PERIPHERY has shown me some of the most incredible experiences I could ever have imagined, to meet amazing people all over the world and to create friendships for life; it has truly been an honour to perform in front of every audience who has watched us play over the years. However the touring life isn’t something that everyone can continue doing indefinitely, and for me, the time has come where I want to settle into a more normal existence, be able to make plans further into the future than the touring life enables, and to be able to focus more on the studio side of my music career,” explained Nolly. “I will, however, be remaining as a band member and contributing in any way that I can while the band is off the road; I love all of my fellow bandmates like brothers and I’m so grateful for the incredible support they’ve shown as I make this huge life change. I know they are going to be taking the music and performances to the next level when they hit the road later this year.”
The band will host a four-day, immersive summer camp dubbed the “Periphery Summer Jam” on July 25 to 29 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York. Registration and further information can be found here.
