BMG, in partnership with Rhino Entertainment, announces the release of ‘Out Of The Cellar’ 40th Anniversary, celebrating RATT’s massively successful first studio album with Limited Edition versions which include an UNRELEASED TRACK recorded during the 1983 Out of the Cellar sessions.
Formed in Los Angeles, RATT was featured as an unsigned act on Uncle Joe Benson’s Local Licks Drive Time Show on KLOS-FM. This was their first time on radio and led to their signing to Atlantic Records.
Featuring the classic line up of Stephen Pearcy (vocals), Warren DeMartini (guitars), Robbin Crosby (guitars), Juan Croucier (bass/vocals), and Bobby Blotzer (drums), RATT exploded on to the national scene in 1984 with the release of ‘Out Of The Cellar.’
Featuring an undeniable hook and legendary music video, the lead single “Round And Round” hit #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, while ‘Out Of The Cellar’ reached #7 on the Billboard Top 200 and was certified triple platinum. Two more charting singles followed with “Back For More” and “Wanted Man”.
Out of the Cellar became a huge success, and after the album was released, the band went on a world tour, selling out stadiums and arenas worldwide and sharing a stage with acts such as Ozzy Osborne, Iron Maiden, Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister and more.
This Limited Edition of Out Of The Cellar is being released in red and black splatter vinyl with a lenticular cover and an additional neon orange 7” with the unreleased track ‘Reach for the Sky’, as well as a Limited Edition CD format with lenticular cover and unreleased track.
Out Of The Cellar Tracklisting: 1. Wanted Man (Cristofanilli/Crosby/Pearcy) 2. You’re In Trouble (DeMartini/Pearcy/Crosby) 3. Round And Round (DeMartini/Pearcy/Crosby) 4. Jimmy Kay from Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke to vocalist and founding member of Ratt’s Stephen Pearcy. Pearcy spoke about Ratt’s tour plans, Ratt’s upcoming studio album and some details on the next book he is planing on writing.
Watch the Interview here
When asked about Ratt’s Touring plans
“I just went through these surgeries and so this past year is kind of just been getting back on my feet getting the running shoes back on and firing on all cylinders so next year will be pretty much the real deal worldwide touring. Right now we’re just you know doing some dates and getting tight and want to work on some new music and take it from there.”
When asked about a new RATT’s new studio album and the musical direction
“I always release solo records pretty much every year just because I like to write and try different things. With RATT we’re gonna to probably release a couple singles first and see what happens, if it fires up will go into a record that’s the easy part. It’s been quite a while since the last album was released 2010-11. Of course the musical style is going be in the RATT norm. When we get into the Ratt music writing mode we know what is Ratt’s music and what isn’t. I would like to get a little more melodically aggressive on the next album, say something like in between the E.P. Out of The Cellar and Invasion of your Privacy. We are shooting for some more Harder Ratt ‘n Roll. Also I have been mentioning to Juan Croucier we should do a similar vocal trade off part like we did on lack of Communication off of Out of the Cellar on a new song.”
When asked what he learn ed from Out of the Cellar producer Beau Hill recording sessions
“Wow quite a lot, arrangements, being patient I learned a lot from him, he was a worker, when he went in there to work it was time to work . It was great to bounce of ideas off of him and then after Out Of The Cellar we knew exactly what we were doing.”
When asked if we will be writing another book
“Absolutely, I’d like to get working on it next year because it’ll be a lot different than the first one. On this book I’ll go over the musical tree of who was there when I first started. I would also like to get more inside the music, who was really involved and who wasn’t. There’s people names that come up and I don’t have a clue who they are and I don’t think they do but they weren’t in the band Ratt I want to set the record straight. Also meeting Robin Crosby for the first time and how much of a part of the music of Ratt he was at the time and how Robin and I creating this whole monster. ”
When asked if he would ever collaborate musically with Jake E Lee in the future who he played with in Pre Ratt, Mickey Ratt
“I would love to, I’m willing to work with any of my friends, Tracy Guns a couple weeks ago working on a song idea. Nothing wrong with writing music with others.”
When asked about his the recent announcement that he would be inducted into the Hall of Heavy Metal History
“I think it’s great because I would take these kind of awards over MTV or VH1’s and other big awards because they’re so political and more or less grab the token band. I mean look there’s so many bands that need to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame that have to do with Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock. If I had my way you know it’ll be a whole different award show on how you reward people. The LA scene had a lot to do with the music industry and those bands sold millions upon millions and maybe even a couple hundred million records and none of those bands get noticed for that. So I think the Hall of Heavy Metal History and being inducted is fantastic and much appreciated”

Frontiers Music Srl is thrilled to announce the signing of STEPHEN PEARCY for the release of his fourth original solo album, “Smash”.
Stephen Pearcy, best known as the original vocalist and founding member of the platinum rock band RATT, has been working hard to complete his highly anticipated new album, while at the same time keeping busy performing shows across the U.S. “I am very happy with the new music and the diversity of the songs. It’s taken some time. I’m sure all the fans will be excited too. Also, to be involved with the Frontiers Music Srl family is way cool,” says Stephen about the new songs which are coming to life now.
The good news is that the first taste of new music has been already made available!
Check out “I Can’t Take It”:
“Smash” will be mixed and mastered by none other than the legendary Beau Hill, the producer of RATT’s first four albums, among many other hit records. Stephen will be supporting “Smash” with live dates in the U.S. and internationally.
With over 15 million records and gold and platinum long form videos sold in the U.S. alone with RATT, touring the world with over 20 albums to his credit with other ventures, solo projects, compilations, best of records, and other bands he created, there is no slowing Pearcy down.
Pearcy is an accomplished songwriter with credits on all of RATT’s records through the years (including “Out Of The Cellar”, “Invasion Of Your Privacy”, “Dancing Undercover” and more). More recently, RATT’s last studio album, “Infestation” was released to a few years ago to rave reviews around the world. Stephen is also a producer, composer, television program creator, art director, marketing director, and owner/product creator of “Mic Knuckle” (hands free mic holder) and has also been involved in music for ESPN2 NHRA Drag Racing. Additionally, he has been involved in sponsoring several top fuel dragsters and funny cars since the mid 80’s-90’s thru the 00’s.
Source: Ultimateclassicrock.com Stephen Pearcy’s departure from RATT earlier this week may have surprised many, but it’s been a long time coming for the singer. In a new interview, he spoke of his plans to move forward, which may or may not include a song from his last sessions with the group, as well as addressing some misconceptions about his role in Ratt.
Speaking to Mitch Lafon on his ‘One on One‘ podcast, Pearcy said that he was much more than just the voice of the band. “I wrote every song, or co-wrote every song with some of the guys,” he declared. “Contrary to what people might think or what they’re told, it’s my music…I’m a guitar player first and foremost. I don’t know if people know this or if they really care. I don’t. Publishing speaks for itself, but I’m content. We’ve sold a lot of records. This music will live way beyond any of our lives. It’s all great. My kid’ll be happy one day, and it’s all that matters.”
When he’s ready, Pearcy will get back to work on his fourth solo album, which will be released differently than the traditional method. “I’m just going to release a few songs,” he said. “Or maybe a song a week until there’s 13 songs, because I like that number. After 13 songs, we’ll release it as a CD.”
That doesn’t mean that we’ve heard the last of those musicians working together. There is a contractual obligation to their label, to whom they owe one more album. “[T]hat’s not saying there won’t be another Ratt record,” he continued. “It just won’t be under the circumstance of a band going into the studio and this-and-that. I just won’t be playing in that band anymore, and pretty much put that to rest.”
And while that’s somewhat ambiguous, Pearcy swore that he’s “still committed to this record…..Warren [DeMartini] and I actually wrote a great song months ago at MT Studios, my bass player’s studio. If that’s the last thing that gets out and the only thing, it’s a good thing. But you know, I said I’d do it. But I never want to be involved with my band again. That’s just the bottom line.”
Still, it doesn’t sound like, for all the acrimony, Pearcy has any regrets, and he’s moving on. “I don’t have time to waste entertaining negative anything from anybody,” he added. “But hey, I appreciate everybody who came to the party and it’s not over. It’s just a new beginning. It’s a good thing, and it’s a long time coming.”
American hard rockers RATT have posted via their official Facebook page:
“We are deeply saddened to report that Stephen Pearcy’s sister has passed away. Due to this sudden and unexpected news, RATT will not be performing on the Monsters of Rock Cruise. We would like to thank all our loyal fans for their continued support and understanding. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Stephen and his family. We ask that you kindly respect Stephen’s privacy during this difficult time.“
