Highly-acclaimed progressive metal act REDEMPTION has signed a deal with AFM Records beginning with the release of its live album “Alive in Color” (as CD/BluRay or CD/DVD), recorded during Redemption’s headlining appearance at the ProgPower USA festival, as well as the forthcoming 8th studio album in the near future.

The band, led by guitarist Nick van Dyk and fronted by legendary Tom S. Englund (the charismatic frontman of Swedish dark melodic metal band Evergrey), has established a strong name for itself through its musicianship and live performance since its founding in 2003.  Their most recent release, 2018’s ‘Long Night’s Journey Into Day’, was REDEMPTION’s first to feature Englund as their vocalist, and was showcased along with some of the band’s popular previous material and a number of guest performances that year in a headlining performance at ProgPower in Atlanta, GA.

Nick van Dyk comments “We are all tremendously excited about signing a new record deal with AFM.  We have of course known of AFM from our beginnings as one of our genre’s most important labels, and with Evergrey on their roster, Tom has first-hand experience with how great they are to work with. Two-time GRAMMY-nominated blues-rock titan JOE BONAMASSA will release his new studio album “Redemption” on September 21st via Provogue records/Mascot Label Group in Europe and J&R Adventures in North America.

“Redemtion”, Bonamassa’s 13th solo studio album and third in a row of all original material, sees him at his most ambitious and diverse as he continues to redefine and push the barriers of blues-rock. It features a collection of 12 exhilarating songs that reflect the re-birth that he is currently going through. “I’m going through some other stuff in my life I didn’t expect to be going through. It’s a rising, it’s contrition, it’s acceptance, it’s everything. It’s painful, but knowing that there’s a rising coming,” he explains.

Grab your dancing shoes and get ready for the daring and energetic new tune from Bonamassa. “King Bee Shakedown”, recorded on the highly-anticipated new album “Redemption”, is reminiscent of high-energy swing and jump-blues, styles artists like Brian Setzer helped to revive throughout the 80’s. The song is a high-tempo boogie complete with booming backbeats from the drums, blaring horn stabs, a red-hot solo from Joe!

The album reunites Bonamassa with some of Nashville’s finest music minds such as Tom Hambridge, James House, Gary Nicholson as well as Richard Page, Dion Dimucci and continues his long creative relationship with Kevin Shirley. “From a Producer’s perspective, this is far and away the most challenging and diverse album that Joe has ever made“, says Shirley

The album was recorded at various locations including, Blackbird Studios, Nashville TN, The Cave Australia, Sydney OZ, Studio At The Palms, Las Vegas NV, Criteria Hit Factory, Miami FL and Addiction Sound Studios, Nashville TN. It was once again recorded with a remarkable collection of musicians including; drummer Anton Fig, bassist Michael Rhodes, keyboardist Reese Wynans, horn players Lee Thornburg and Paulie Cerra, harmony vocalist Gary Pinto, background singers Mahalia Barnes, Jade McRae, Juanita Tippins and Kevin Shirley introduced two extra guitar players, Kenny Greenberg and Doug Lancio. “It was interesting, because having two extra guitar players involved, allowed me to play a certain way,” Bonamassa adds.

On July 27th, REDEMPTION will release their seventh full-length album, Long Night’s Journey into Day – the first to be produced with Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Primal Fear, Amaranthe, Doro, etc.). The follow-up to 2016′s The Art Of Loss, which van Dyk counts amongst Redemption‘s very best, Long Night’s Journey Into Day is inarguably the sound of a band at the height of their powers. As followers of Redemption are also aware, it is the first full-length since the departure of vocalist Ray Alder, and features the debut of Evergrey vocalist Tom Englund. “We were unable to tour ‘The Art Of Loss‘ because Ray was not able to actively participate in Redemption any longer, so we decided it was time to part company shortly after its release. Ray is a dear friend, and I have nothing but respect and love for him and what we created together. But at some point, it just became untenable.” Of course, Alder’s shoes were not exactly going to be easy to fill, and it was essential that his successor be someone who would immediately command respect, as well as somebody who could exceed expectations when it came to performance. Moreover, it was integral that they had someone who could fully invest in the lyrical themes concerning the human condition, which have always been central to Redemption. So, the fact that from the beginning of his career Englund has penned lyrics about feelings of doubt, fear and despair with an unshakable emotional authenticity made him the perfect choice. “Because of the power of his voice and the emotion he brings, this isn’t going to be a shocking transition for fans. Tom’s also a very versatile vocalist, and being a songwriter, he has a tremendous melodic and compositional sensibility, and on top of that, we’ve known each other for many years, and there is a level of not just professional respect but personal friendship to it all.”

Guitarists Chris Poland (Megadeth, OHM) and Simone Mularoni (DGM) return as guest musicians. When it came to backing up the music with visuals, the band once again turned to a longtime collaborator, Travis Smith, whose humbling resumĂŠ includes records by bands such as Art Of Defiance, Opeth and Iced Earth.

As just announced at ProgPower USA 2017 this past weekend (September 8th), REDEMPTION is confirmed to headline next year’s edition of the festival, with new vocalist Tom Englund (Evergrey)! This new line-up including Englund, Nick van Dyk (guitars and keyboards), Sean Andrews (bass) and Chris Quirarte (drums) has finished recording REDEMPTION‘s seventh full-length album, ‘Long Night’s Journey into Day‘ – the first to be produced with Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Primal Fear, Amaranthe, Doro, etc.). Guitarists Chris Poland (Megadeth, OHM) and Simone Mularoni (DGM) return as guest musicians. Fans can anticipate this upcoming album in early 2018.
