Reigning Phoenix Music proudly introduces PERCEPTION, its latest label imprint. Following the success of ROAR, a sub-label dedicated to emerging talents and artists, PERCEPTION is set to provide a strong foundation for regionally and stylistically leading bands with high growth potential.

Jochen Richert, managing director of RPM Europe, shares his vision for PERCEPTION: “My responsibilities at Reigning Phoenix Music have often taken me away from what I love most – working directly with bands, nurturing their growth, and helping them reach their full potential. With PERCEPTION, I now can dive back into artist development, which I’m truly excited about. Of course, my main mission remains unchanged: to help Reigning Phoenix Music to become one of the leading metal labels in the world.”

To celebrate the birth of RPM’s new sibling, PERCEPTION proudly announces its first signing – one that perfectly embodies the label’s core value of passion, professionalism, and ambition: SERIOUS BLACK.

More than 10 years of SERIOUS BLACK and highly melodic power metal with the license to create hymns: since 2014, the band led by bassist Mario Lochert, have been delighting fans not only by releasing six studio albums so far, but also by frequently playing much-lauded concerts and festival appearances, and that’s why PERCEPTION is even more proud to begin its journey by signing such a well-known act.

“We’re really happy, and we couldn’t have found a better partner than Reigning Phoenix Music as they greatly combine expertise and experience. We have a comfortable new surrounding, and re-connecting with old companions makes this new union even more special to us: Everything that belongs together comes together over and over again,” comments founding member Lochert.

Jochen Richert as PERCEPTION A&R adds: “Mario and Dominik [Sebastian; guitars] are incredibly passionate about SERIOUS BLACK, and that’s exactly what it takes to elevate this band even further. On the heels of their latest album “Rise Of Akhenaton” [2024], SERIOUS BLACK are celebrating their 10th anniversary with an own headline tour this spring, following an enormously successful European run alongside SONATA ARCTICA, FIREWIND as well as TUNGSTEN. Special guests AUTUMN BRIDE, DRAGONY and RIGORIOUSwill complete the line-up for the upcoming festivities.

Mario states: “10 years, 6 charting albums, over 250 concerts, festival shows and gigs worldwide. A look back that lets me indulge in many memories. Originally founded by bassist Mario Lochert and Roland Grapow (MASTERPLAN, ex-HELLOWEEN) in 2014 and completed by former members of BLIND GUARDIAN and TAD MAROSE among others, there simply wasn’t another option for SERIOUS BLACK than riding a wave of success. Reigning Phoenix Music, a rapidly ascending record label specializing in hard rock and heavy metal, is excited to announce a strategic, multi-year partnership with Maurizio Iacono’s Distortion Music Group. Founded by music industry leader Gerardo Martinez and avionics and tech entrepreneur Sven Bogner, RPM will manage the release, distribution, and marketing of DMG artists under the RPM umbrella.

Martinez brings over two decades of label experience to the partnership, highlighted by his collaborations with prominent bands like Slayer, and pivotal roles in the careers of Carcass, Dimmu Borgir, Kerry King, Kataklysm, Meshuggah, Machine Head, Deicide, Soulfly, and others.

“I met Maurizio back in 1995 while he was touring the US for the first time,” shares Martinez. “Years later I worked with him with Kataklysm, and other bands he manages such as Septicflesh and Fleshgod Apocalypse, and since have built a very strong career and relationship that has lasted over two decades. I’m very much looking forward at the prospect of this new partnership that will bring a lot of new talent and well established artists!”

Maurizio Iacono, not only the enduring frontman for death metal legends Kataklysm, but also a successful artist manager, has nurtured the careers of influential bands such as Septicflesh, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Wind Rose, and Unleash the Archers. With a keen eye for talent through his own record label, he first signed Wind Rose and has continued to discover and support rising artists.

“Gerardo and I have known each other for over 20 years,” adds Iacono. “From teenagers with a love for metal at concerts to working in many facets of the music industry together, we have grown in it for over two decades. Two years ago, I started Distortion Music Group, a label imprint designed to give the artist a voice and fighting chance to shine. When Gerardo approached me about partnering DMG with RPM and bring some fire power to the label, it was a no brainer for us to accept this new venture and bring it to the next level!”

Reigning Phoenix Music, the emerging force in heavy music, is proud to announce the integration of Atomic Fire Records. The strategic move sees the incorporation of Atomic Fire Records‘ roster into the RPM family and expands into a very impressive global line-up comprised of many genre-defining bands.

The new RPM roaster boasts many legendary, Grammy-nominated, and global powerhouses such as OPETH and MESHUGGAH, German pioneers of heavy metal, HELLOWEEN, Finnish metal legends AMORPHIS, the newly signed DEICIDE and SEBASTIAN BACH, with more to be revealed soon!

“Everyone at RPM is extremely excited about the prospect of continuing our quest to build the most impressive line-up in heavy music, especially this moment as we welcome many of these icons into the fold!” said Sven Bogner, founder of RPM.
