On November 25th, 2010, Gothenburg-based Club Centurion is organizing a new and unique rock cruise aboard the Tallink-Silja ship: Galaxy. The purpose of the cruise is to provide ambitious and talented rock bands an opportunity to showcase their talent to a new and wider audience, much larger than they are accustomed to.
Swedish progressive/power metal band Evergrey and 25 different bands from large to small will perform during the 24 hour rockin’ cruise from Stockholm to Turku (Finland) and back! Two stages will be rigged, a huge main stage for bands attracting larger crowds and a smaller club scene for newer talent on the rise. The music genre ranges from rock, hard rock, metal and death metal. There will be several different and exciting competitions held during the cruise with great prizes including loads of music equipment donated by Club Centurion sponsors. At the end of the cruise, the eight best guitarists will also compete in a “Guitar Battle”. The best guitar player will win a Jackson electric guitar!
Rock dreams come true? The concept behind Rockin’ the Galaxy is that each band gets to take their fans/crowd on a rockin’ cruise! The diversity of fans from different bands makes it possible to assemble a huge concentated audience that enjoys the same kind of music. In turn, this means that bands normally attracting crowds of 50-100 people at a local club now have the opportunity to play before a tenfold larger audience!
