SCHIZO Sign With Punishment 18 Records

Cult psycho-thrash metal band SCHIZO made a deal with label PUNISHMENT 18 RECORDS for the production,  distribution and printing of the forthcoming album which will be released next year.
Recording sessions took place at “New Sound” studio in Zurich, under the attentive ear of Tommy Vetterli (Coroner), who will appear as very special guest in the new album.
Dario Casabona, drummer of the band, commented as follows:
“We are very happy with the deal signed with Punishment 18 Records. Once done with the album’s production works, we decided to take some time to evaluate which label, between those that had shown interest, to collaborate, which one would focus more on the final result rather than a quick release. We wanted the new album to be released by someone really into our music, someone who was aware of our musical history and who would support us concordantly; Corrado’s (mastermind of P18R) enthusiasm and his vision of the state of the music business nowadays, immediately convinced us, and we ceased searching and evaluating labels.
Alternating extreme moments to darker ones, our new album is still trade-marked “Schizo”, but this time there will also be new elements; we are absolutely certain this is our best work from the ’80 to this day.”

FOAD Records has issued that After the insane release party at the Armageddon In The Park festival that saw NECRODEATH, SCHIZO, BULLDOZER, Jester Beast and other Italian Thrash monsters share the same stage, we are stoked to announce that the official re-issue of “Mondocane” (1989) for the first time ever on digipack CD is finally out on FOAD Records and available at scareystore.com !! For those who still aren’t familiar to this Italian underground gem, “Mondocane” was a late 80s hyper-thrashing combo formed by half early Necrodeath and half Schizo “Main frame collapse” era members to deliver 10 whiplashes of rapid fire Thrash-core uniting the bands’ peculiar style to a basic S.O.D. flavoured imprint.

Italian band SCHIZO, formed in 1984, can be considered one of the finest and most respected extreme bands to ever originate in Europe. Recently SCHIZO entered New Sound Studios, under the guidance of CORONER guitarist Tommy Vetterli, to record a new album. This confirms SCHIZO’s definitive comeback to the scene, with a higher quality production, aimed directly towards worldwide markets. The project will see the participation of the excellent producers and appearances, a work that certainly will not go unnoticed.

Recently Tarja Virmakari had a nice chat with SCHIZO‘s vocalist, Niko Accurso. The main topic was of course the upcoming album, and Niko revealed some interesting details about it. He spoke also about the band’s past years and upcoming festivals, and about today’s role of labels, management and booking agencies, but also the crisis in music business was discussed. The time has finally come to announce some new additions to the Metalitalia.com Festival 2013 lineup. VICIOUS RUMORS, DEMON and SADIST are bound to elevate an already amazing event!

VICIOUS RUMORS are among the pioneers of the legendary Bay Area metal scene. Founded in 1979, they are still going strong nowadays. Their new album “Electric Punishment”, out on April 26th via SPV/Steamhammer, will surely strengthen their status of pillars of the US classic power/thrash scene.

DEMON: another legendary act added to the festival’s lineup! They have often been mentioned as a primal influence by remarkable metal bands such as Metallica or Blind Guardian and they are surely among the most renowned fathers of the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal). DEMON don’t play live too often and their show at the Metalitalia.com Festival 2013 will be an event not to be missed!

Last but not least, we are extremely happy to announce the confirmation of Italy’s SADIST, a true progressive death metal legend. In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their milestone “Above The Light” (1993), the band will perform the album in its entirety with the support of a string quartet!

The additional space outside the venue will allow us to comfortably accommodate the crowd, and will allow more room for the metal market, places to sit and other new additions such as tattoo artists, lounge rooms, etc.

The Live Club is surrounded by free parking lots and can also provide meals thanks to a restaurant that oversees the stage.

Metalitalia.com Festival has just issued the following:

URIAH HEEP, the legendary heavy rock band from England, will be one of the headliners of the 2013 edition of the METALITALIA.com FESTIVAL. The band will be performing a special best-of set spanning through all the hits of their fundamental career.

Several international and Italian special guests from various branches of heavy metal have also been invited to join such an important act.

The first confirmed bands are ARTILLERY, the Danish thrash metal institution, and SCHIZO, the highly influential Italian thrash-death metal act who’s now at work with Tommy Vetterli (CORONER) on a new album. Joining the festivities are also Irish thrashers GAMA BOMB, Brazilian long running death-thrasher TORTURE SQUAD and Italian epic metal sensation ICY STEEL.
