SIGNS OF THE SWARM have unleashed their sixth album, To Rid Myself of Truth, via Century Media Records . The Pittsburgh deathcore giants also dropped a video for their crushing track “Natural Selection”, a live favorite that captures the band’s signature intensity.
Vocalist David Simonich calls the song “a defining moment” in their set, symbolizing transformation and evolution. Drummer Bobby Crow adds that the album, years in the making, delivers something for everyone who has followed the band over the past decade.
Produced by Josh Schroeder (known for work with Lorna Shore and Mental Cruelty), To Rid Myself of Truth pushes the band’s sound further, blending brutal deathcore roots with influences from Meshuggah, Gojira, and Fear Factory.
The album features guest appearances from Will Ramos, Phil Bozeman, and more. Catch Signs of the Swarm on tour this fall with Mental Cruelty, ten56. , Carcosa, and Face Yourself, before they head to Europe with Chelsea Grin, Mugshot, and Crown Magnetar.
On August 22nd, Pittsburgh deathcore titans Signs of the Swarm will release their sixth full-length, To Rid Myself of Truth, via Century Media Records. Today, the band is giving fans the final preview of the record before its release with a new video for the title track, which can be seen below and stream it now here.
“I started writing this song after Dave and I had a chat about getting back to the roots that made us want to make stupid-heavy music,” reveals drummer Bobby Crow. “I wanted some straight up knuckling-dragging, slack jaw shit. It felt like a great way to open the album and make a statement that we aren’t here to fuck around.”
“I personally think this is the heaviest breakdown on the record—maybe tied with closing track ‘Creator,'” explains vocalist David Simonich. “My favorite line from ‘To Rid Myself Of Truth’ was inspired by the recent Nosferatu movie: ‘The shrieks of two, the screams of one, the cries of none.'”

Reunited with producer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Mental Cruelty, Varials, King 810), Signs Of The Swarm continues molting their slamming deathcore exoskeleton, revealing a band now as indebted to Meshuggah, Gojira and Fear Factory as any of the deathcore bands they grew up on—now peers. After writing breakout 5th LP Amongst the Low & Empty (2023) almost entirely in-studio, the groupgeared up to do it again on To Rid Myself of Truth. This stint’s 7-week lead time—PLUS the in-studio time—was a veritable vacation for the band, with the addition of guitarist/backing vocalist Carl Schulz adding a whole other set of riffing hands (and vocal chords) to the band. It was plenty of time for the now-quartet, rounded out by bassist Michael Cassese, to craft metal exactly as they think it should sound: MORE. PISSED. And it is. Musically the album’s edges are far more serrated than their last’s flirtations with djenty bounce. Read the full bio for To Rid Myself of Truthhere.

Currently on tour across Europe (see below for dates), Pittsburgh deathcore titans Signs of the Swarm have released a new single/video today, titled “Scars Upon Scars” — taken from the band’s upcoming sixth full-length, To Rid Myself of Truth, which is due to be released August 22nd via Century Media Records. Stream the track now here; watch the video below.
“‘Scars Upon Scars’ is about my struggles with addiction,” reveals vocalist David Simonich. “I tried to make it accessible for anyone who is dealing with addiction: showcasing the depriving lows of withdrawal and highlighting the hunger that is never satiated. I hope someone can take this piece I’ve given of myself and feel less alone.
“With such direct lyrics, I approached my vocals with influences from hardcore bands I like, such as Jesus Piece, Backtrack and Desolated.”
Pittsburgh deathcore titans Signs of the Swarm are celebrating just ahead of a mammoth European festival trek by releasing new song “Clouded Retinas,” featuring Will Ramos. The run will feature appearances at legendary fests like Hellfest, Graspop, Rock for People and Sweden Rock, plus a co-headlining slot at the return of the UK’s Ghostfest. Peppered between are three sold-out shows supporting Lorna Shore and one supporting Fit for an Autopsy, plus multiple headliners with the likes of Mental Cruelty and Terminal Sleep—the former with whom the band will tour around North America this coming fall!
Stream this new single—”Clouded Retinas” (feat. Will Ramos)—now here; the official visualizer can be seen below.
“‘Clouded Retinas’ is about my struggle coming to terms with my vision loss and diagnosis of Stargardt disease,” explains vocalist David Simonich, who is having an internal dialogue with himself in the song. “I asked my friend Will Ramos to hop on the song not just to make it sound sick but also to spread awareness of degenerative diseases and disability. With Will holding it down for today’s deathcore, I tried to showcase my influences from Nate Johnson and Vincent Bennett because the song feels modern yet nostalgic at the same time.”
“Clouded Retinas” is taken from the band’s upcoming sixth full-length, To Rid Myself of Truth, which is due to be released August 22nd via Century Media Records. On August 22nd, Pittsburgh titans Signs Of The Swarm will release their sixth full-length, To Rid Myself of Truth, via Century Media Records. Reunited with producer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, Mental Cruelty, Varials, King 810), the group continues molting their slamming deathcore exoskeleton, revealing a band now as indebted to Meshuggah, Gojira and Fear Factory as any of the deathcore bands they grew up on—now peers. For a first preview of To Rid Myself of Truth, the new single “HELLMUSTFEARME” can be streamed now here; watch the video below.
Bobby Crow (Drums) comments: “‘HELLMUSTFEARME’ is a nod to our roots: all gas, no brakes from start-to-finish. I wanted to channel the albums that drew me into deathcore, such as ‘The Cleansing’ by Suicide Silence and ‘Hellbound’ by Fit for an Autopsy and add our SOTS flavor. As soon as we finished this demo, we knew we wanted it to be the first thing everyone heard from the album that became ‘To Rid Myself of Truth’.”
David Simonich (Vocals) adds: “‘HELLMUSTFEARME’ started from a little joke I had with a friend about how many times I tried killing myself—and failed, obviously. Assuming Hell were real, I would definitely be going there, but they don’t want me there. It’s kind of a ‘chicken or the egg’ situation; do they not want me there because I can’t die and what that suggests, or can I not die because they won’t let me know—and why is that if it wasn’t preceded by my being unkillable?
“The song is about the lowest of the low. Not even the most depraved place for the heathens of all heathens wants me? So they keep me contained in another Hell, Earth.
“Yet, I overcome. I hope that shines through and the listener feels powerful when they are jamming this defiant and deadly song. I’m trying to turn my negative experiences into something positive.”
After writing breakout 5th LP Amongst the Low & Empty (2023) almost entirely in-studio, Signs Of The Swarm geared up to do it again on To Rid Myself of Truth. In the midst of their stacked headline “Decade of the Swarm” Tour, Pittsburgh, PA Deathcore unit SIGNS OF THE SWARM have dropped new single IWONTLETYOUDIE— their first original music since 2023’s breakout LP “Amongst the Low & Empty”. The new song was once again produced by Josh Schroeder, whose subwoofer HAS been replaced since that album blew it on its would-be first full in-studio playback. Rumor has it he’s treating listening sessions of IWONTLETYOUDIE with caution—something the band didn’t do while writing the song.
“IWONTLETYOUDIE‘ marks the beginning of a new chapter for SIGNS OF THE SWARM: a story of an endless cycle of death and resurrection,” reveals SIGNS OF THE SWARM drummer and main songwriter Bobby Crow. “We like to use the time between albums to explore new ideas and sounds. We did this on the ultra-heavy ‘Unbridled,’ the more moshy ‘The Collection’ (featuring guest shouts from Kublai Khan’s Matt Honeycutt and Molotov Solution’s Nick Arthur), and the eerily melodic crusher ‘Pernicious’. IWONTLETYOUDIE touches on all of those and more; our goal was to channel the energy of deathcore that got us excited about it in our younger year, so expect the explosiveness of ‘Amongst the Low & Empty ‘ but so much more!”
