SLASH To Help Launch Bob Irwin Wildlife Conservation Foundation

According to The Australian, legendary guitarist Slash has agreed to help Steve Irwin‘s father, Bob Irwin, launch the Bob Irwin Wildlife Conservation Foundation in Brisbane, Australia on Wednesday, August 22.

Slash himself became well-known during his days with GUNS N’ ROSES as the owner of numerous snakes, although he told The Pulse Of Radio he had to dial it down when he became a father. “I used to have a plethora of snakes, but we got rid of everything right before my first son was born because you have 80, you know, life-threatening snakes around and a baby, you know, who’s going to grow up to be a toddler that’s gonna get into everything,” he said. “You know, I got sort of cold feet about the whole thing.”

Slash was honored last year by the Los Angeles Zoo for his contributions to the wildlife center and is also a trustee on the board.

SLASH Joined By LEMMY On Stage In Boston (Video)

Slash was joined on stage by Lemmy from MOTÖRHEAD for a rendition of “Doctor Alibi” during the former GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist’s concert on August 2 at House Of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be viewed below.

“Doctor Alibi” comes off Slash‘s self-titled solo album, which came out in April 2010.

In a March 2010 interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com, Slash stated about the experience of recording “Doctor Alibi” with Lemmy, “That was another great moment; having Lemmy come down. Because Lemmy was one of those guys that I so looked up to and I still do. When I was a kid, I was one of those Lemmy fans that would bow in his presence. And we got to be friends and he’s always sort of taken me under his wing kind of thing and he’s always been really cool. Lemmy is one of those kinds of guys who can have a real serious attitude if he wants to. He’s actually a really nice guy in general. I always thought he was sort of intimidating but he was always really nice to me. And I’ve had a chance to work with him; I’ve played on one of their records [‘March or Die’] and I’ve done a lot of gigs with ’em. I asked him if he’d be interested and I sent him the thing and he got it right away and he came down to the studio. . . We had bottle of Jack Daniels and a couple bags of potato chips and it reminded me of when I used to show up at sessions. It was great. And the song is all about how the doctor told him how he might have to quit partying and then another doctor said, ‘No, you need to continue.’ It’s a great personal thing; I’m really honored to have it on there.

Slash and MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS — Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass) and Frank Sidoris (guitar) — announced a fall headlining tour starting September 4 in San Diego, California and wrapping October 3 in Los Angeles, California.

Slash scored his first-ever No. 1 hit at rock radio as a solo artist with “You’re A Lie”, the first single from his second solo effort, “Apocalyptic Love”. The record came out on May 22 and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart a week later, selling 38,000 copies in its first week of release.

Unlike Slash‘s solo debut, which featured different vocalists on each track and a number of guest musicians, Slash has recorded all of the new CD with MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS.

SLASH: Video Tour Of Rehearsal Studio

Legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N’ ROSES) recently gave Germany’s Metal Hammer magazine a tour of his rehearsal studio. Check it out below.

During a new interview with RollingStone.com, Slash revealed that he is already looking ahead to recording his next album, to feature the same band with which he made the current “Apocalyptic Love” CD. “We’ve got the tour that’s gonna go into next year, we’re starting work on the next record,” Slash said.

Slash and his band MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS — Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass) and Frank Sidoris (guitar) — announced a fall headlining tour starting September 4 in San Diego, California and wrapping October 3 in Los Angeles, California.

Slash co-wrote all the material with ALTER BRIDGE singer Myles Kennedy and told The Pulse Of Radio that they never struggled to find a groove together. “There was never any kind of like, ‘OK, we need to sit down and focus on writing,'” he said. “Just whenever ideas happened, I would just lay them down, and if I thought it was good enough to send to him, then I’d send it to him. And he miraculously would come up with melodies for everything I came up with, and it just happened like that.”

Slash and his band recently completed a month-long tour of Europe.

The exclusive presale for Citi card members starts Tuesday, July 3. Citi card members will also have special access to tickets as well as VIP experiences at http://www.citiprivatepass.com. A limited amount of VIP packages — including a chance to meet Slash and get an autographed guitar — will also be available for fans during the pre sale which begins Tuesday, July 10. General public on-sales will begin Friday, July 13.
