Multi-national thrashers NIGHTRAGE have tapped Snowy Shaw (THERION, KING DIAMOND, DREAM EVIL, DIMMU BORGIR) to sit behind the kit for their August 26 concert in South Korea. Snowy will be filling in for regular NIGHTRAGE drummer Johan Nunez, who has been busy touring and recording with FIREWIND. NIGHTRAGE states, “We are honored to have [Snowy] behind the drums!”
NIGHTRAGE‘s fifth album, “Insidious”, was released last September via Lifeforce Records. The CD featured guest appearances by Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND), Tomas S. Englund (EVERGREY), Apollo Papathanasio (FIREWIND, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS), John K (BIOMECHANICAL) and the band’s former frontman Tomas Lindberg (also known for his work with AT THE GATES, THE CROWN and LOCK UP). Lindberg appeared on the band’s first two albums — 2003’s “Sweet Vengeance” and 2005’s “Descent Into Chaos” — before being replaced by Jimmie Strimell, who sang on 2007’s “A New Disease Is Born”.

Said Maryann: “The album will consist of 11 old school garage rock songs, combined with a brutal and dirty rhythm sections, to the most beautiful orchestra arrangements.”
Blakk, Hal Patino and Shaw are also expected to be part of Cotton‘s touring band, which will begin playing shows in the fall.
Maryann Cotton‘s career was launched in 2006 when he performed live on Danish TV as part of the “Scenen Er Din” program (Danish version of “Star Search”).
King Diamond stated about Maryann‘s Shock Me” single (which also featured appearances by La Rocque, Blakk, Hal Patino and Shaw), “I checked out the Maryann Cotton song ‘Shock Me’. I really liked it. It reminded me in a positive way of Alice Cooper 1971. I think his vocals fit really well in the music, and the few backing vocals he did seemed to make everything sound a lot bigger. Normally horn sections really give me the creeps, but the way they used it in this song, I didn’t mind. Great musicians, of course. I really look forward to hear more songs from him, so I can begin to get the full picture.” Source: Blabbermouth.net
Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw has set “Snowy Shaw Is Alive!” as the title of his new live album, due just a few days before Christmas via iTunes. A “super-deluxe, limited-edition” double vinyl version of the record will be made available in early 2012. “Snowy Shaw Is Alive!” was recorded at Snowy‘s concert on May 27, 2011 at the Brew House in Gothenburg, Sweden. The special event saw Shaw performing “all his favorite songs” from “all his former bands” — including KING DIAMOND, NOTRE DAME, DREAM EVIL, MERCYFUL FATE, THERION, MEMENTO MORI, ILLWILL, XXX and DIMMU BORGIR — and featured guest appearances by the following musicians:
* Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND, ILLWILL)

Due to the “astonishing response” and many offers from festival promoters and booking agencies, Snowy has decided to postpone the release of the DVD version of the Brew House concert “with the intention of having even more material filmed and included from the upcoming shows,” according to a press release.
When asked what prompted him to stage this unusual concert, Snowy told BLABBERMOUTH.NET earlier in the year, “First of all, few people been involved in as many bands as I have, and over the years people kept saying I should revive NOTRE DAME, reunite with KING DIAMOND or MEMENTO MORI, or that DREAM EVIL wasn’t as good without me and so on. Personally, I’m not a big fan of moving backwards, but this concept is something altogether new and fresh, perhaps even unique. To the best of my knowledge, I don’t know of anyone else who’ve done anything like this before, and I [felt] really excited and optimistic about it. From the moment it first crossed my mind and the more I thought about it, I loved the idea of offering people a kick-ass ‘best- of’ show with all the favorites, classics and hits of all my former bands together with my all-star band and occasional special guest stars connected to those bands.”
Professionally filmed video footage of Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw performing the DREAM EVIL song “The End” on May 27, 2011 at the Brew House in Gothenburg, Sweden can be seen below. The track was dedicated at the concert to EASY ACTION bassist Micael “Grimm” Magnusson, who died of diabetes complications just 10 days earlier.
Snowy‘s entire Brew House show was recorded and filmed for future release. The one-off event saw Shaw performing “all his favorite songs” from “all his former bands” — including KING DIAMOND, NOTRE DAME, DREAM EVIL, MERCYFUL FATE, THERION, MEMENTO MORI, ILLWILL, XXX and DIMMU BORGIR — and featured guest appearances by the following musicians:

And so far people seem to love the idea and concept, and the response has been nothing less than great.”
