With the recent passing of Chris Cornell (an early influence of SOiL), the band decided to pay homage and add their version of the classic SOUNDGARDEN song “Rusty Cage” to the compilation. “Rusty Cage” was recorded in 2007 and previously only available on the band’s Myspace page.”Rusty Cage” is taken from the album “SCREAM: The Essentials”, out on September 15th, via AFM Records.
Celebrating the band’s 20-year career, this release will feature tracks from SOIL‘s humble beginnings, rise to fame, and also include alternate versions and mixes.
A brand-new track “Gimme Some Lovin’” will be featured on the compilation and released as a single and video. The track “Gimme Some Lovin’” originally made its on screen debut in the cult classic motion picture “The Blues Brothers” in 1980. Being primarily a Rhythm and Blues based song, SOiL took it upon themselves to add their own personal touch and bring the song into a modern 2017 Hard Rock element.
“Vocally, I really had a good time with the song,” states vocalist Ryan McCombs. “It was a bit left field to what I’m accustomed to singing, but with the added touches we put on it, the song fell right into place.”
Contributing to those “added touches” were guest backing vocalists Lindy Gabriel (Gabriel and the Apocalypse) and Cristina Feliciano (Oblivious Signal), along with guest keyboardist Jake LaCore (Gabriel and the Apocalypse).
“I consider Lindy and Cristina two of the absolute best up-and-coming female vocalists out there, “ says bassist Tim King. “And with being all from the same USA Record Label (Pavement Entertainment), it was a great way to keep everything in the family.” The result is a perfect nod to the band’s Chicago-based heritage, with a classic blues-based song that mixes a whole lotta rock, metal, and female fury pumped into the mix.
Other songs exclusive to this release include an acoustic version of the song “Can You Heal Me” from the album “Re.de.fine. ” This version was recorded at Dimebag Darrell’s home studio in 2004 after SOiL had completed a European tour with Damage Plan. At the helm were Stearling Whittfield engineering and Vinnie Paul producing the track. “Those sessions are such a blur, as it was mandatory to record while drinking lots of booze at Dime’s studio,” says King. “But somehow we got through them. Great times and memories (from what we can still recall!) came from that session. A lot of drunken love on those tracks.”
Another special track on the album is a version of the song “Give It Up” that features the late Wayne Static from Static X singing verses, choruses, and a bridge section in the song. This version leaked out to radio and met with some great underground success but was never properly released until now.

SOiL will embark upon a worldwide tour in support of the new release “SCREAM: The Essentials” throughout 2017 and 2018.
Chicago heavy rockers SOIL will enter the studio in late February to begin recording their new album for a tentative summer release. The band is currently working on 13 songs in pre-production with engineer Don Byczynski at BOTA Studio in Lake In The Hills, Illinois.
In a recent interview with Metal Forces, SOIL frontman Ryan McCombs stated about the band’s next CD: “This is the first time Adam [Zadel, guitar], Tim [King, bass] and I have been writing together since ‘Redefine’, so you have the key component of what made those records. I was always the lyric writer of those albums, and if I stumbled somewhere, Adam was always there to give me a little boost, and give me a little direction here and there. You’ve got us back together as far as the lyrics that I write go. You’ve got Adam too; he was 98.9% of the music on those records, and if he ever had any struggle with whatever — if he ever had any questions — I was always there to help with the arrangement of the songs. We really got the key components of those albums back together again, and I feel like the material that we’re coming up with is that perfect anchor to where you had ‘Scars’ and ‘Redefine’. I think this album is the next stage, the next album in line for SOIL.”
SOIL recently launched an interactive pre-sale campaign on Kickstarter to enable fans to participate in the release of the band’s forthcoming album. Fans will receive exclusive shirts, a chance to have dinner with the band, autographed merchandise, attend studio sessions, an exclusive new MP3 download of the first studio song with McCombs since 2004’s “Redefine” album and more. They also will be the first to receive the new album when it’s released.
Chicago-based hard rockers SOiL will join metal heavyweights FOZZY on a 9-date U.K. tour launching November 27th in Stoke, England, and wrapping-up December 6th in Brighton, England. The tour marks both bands’ first return to the United Kingdom since highly successful appearances on this year’s Download Festival. The tour will also feature the U.K.’s own Breed 77.
“The U.K. has always been FOZZY’s second home, and after the amazing experience we had rocking Download 2012, we couldn’t wait to return to the U.K.,” adds FOZZY frontman Chris Jericho. “That’s why this tour with SOiL is so huge for us. To be able to come back to England, Scotland and Wales with a band of their stature is going to blow away our fans, their fans, and make new fans for both of us! Mark my words… for excitement, energy and pure value, FOZZY vs Soil is going to be THE tour of the fall!!”
“It will be great to have FOZZY joining us for the tour,” says SOiL bassist Tim King. “We had the pleasure of playing a few shows with them this spring and the two bands fit perfectly together.” The tour will be SOiL’s last before entering the studio to record their long-awaited new album featuring the return of original frontman Ryan McCombs.
FOZZY will be making their first U.K. appearance since the August 13 release of new album “Sin And Bones” – their fifth studio album, and first for new label Century Media Records. “I’ve known the SOiL guys for over 15 years and even have a copy of their first demo,” says FOZZY guitarist Rich Ward. “It’s always great to tour with a band that you like, but it’s even better when the band are your friends. Don’t miss an opportunity to see this tour – and bring a helmet!”
