SOULS OF DIOTIMA have completed recording their new album and have entered the final stage of production — mixing and mastering. The entire process is being handled by producer Oscar Nilsson at Bohus Studio in Sweden.
Frontwoman Claudia Barsi says: “The month we spent in the studio was fantastic, also because of the history that place holds. It was, of course, very demanding, as this album is as beautiful as it is complex — a true deep dive, both creatively and emotionally. After our first twenty years — which we absolutely do not deny, and we will keep performing our entire discography live — we decided, both musically and aesthetically, to create what we truly are. Our early productions, while absolutely great, followed the classic female-fronted metal path and certain well-known canons; today we have reached an awareness that allows us to craft something genuinely ours and present ourselves to the audience as we really are. With this in mind, from this album onward our guitarist, Fabio Puddu, will also be the male voice of the band alongside me. This is incredibly exciting for me. For now, though, we don’t want to reveal more about the album.”
The band also welcomes Manuel Dettori (in the photo below) as their new official bassist, who had already been working with them for months prior to entering the studio. “We’re very happy that Manuel has joined this big family,” the band states. “He’s been with us for many months, contributed to the new album, and already feels like an integral part of the band. We believe he is the final missing piece: his musical and technical background, along with his experimental streak, perfectly fits the direction Souls of Diotima are taking.”
Further details about the new album will be revealed soon.
Italian metallers SOULS OF DIOTIMA will enter the legendary Studio Bohus in Sweden at the end of August to begin work on their fifth album. The band will do so under the watchful eye of producer Oscar Nilsson at the legendary Studio Bohus.
Speaking about this significant moment in the band’s history, frontwoman Claudia Barsi has said: “This new record feels like a deep dive, both creatively and emotionally. After twenty years together, we feel we have found new ways to tap into what really makes us tick. Our first productions, which are absolutely fantastic, always followed that classic female metal trend, perhaps following certain well-known canons, and today we have arrived at such an awareness that we are finally able to create something that is really ours and to be and present ourselves to the audience as we really are.
With that in mind, we made the decision that, from this album onwards, our guitarist, Fabio Puddu, will be contributing vocally with me. For me, this is incredibly exciting.”
Founded in 1977, Studio Bohus has hosted bands such as ABBA and Status Quo, gaining a legend all of its own. Since then, it’s become a haven for European metal acts, with bands like Avatar, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Europe, and more calling it home. And it’s precisely because of the importance of the place that the band decided to make documentary throughout their time in the studio, a documentary that will be shot by Emanuela Solinas.
Barsi continued when discussing the documentary: “With the band, we decided to document our stay in the studio, because we feel that this album will bring a radical change to the band, musically. So, we think it’s extremely interesting to document, not only what will be the creative phases in the studio, but also our everyday life. We want our audience, new and old, to see the work that goes into the production of an album because we believe that the material meaning of a record release has been lost. People think it’s something that magically came out of nowhere, whereas there are hours and hours of hard work behind it. All this we want to document, and we believe that our fans will really enjoy it.”
SOULS OF DIOTIMA were formed by Giorgio Pinna and his brother in Sassari, Italy in 2004 and have released four studio albums and two singles under three different labels worldwide. The band has participated in tours and festivals abroad, headlining and sharing the stage with bands such as Obituary, Hatebreed, Stratovarius, Vision Divine, Dgm, Folkstone, Saurom and others. Souls of Diotima have also worked with many of Europe’s top producers, including Jens Bögren and Oscar Nilsson, who is their current producer. In 2017, SOULS OF DIOTIMA founded a record label in London: Diotima Records Music Management LTD.
“Janas”, their fourth studio album, was released on January 29, 2021, via Diotima Records/Rockshots Records. The album achieved great success with audiences and critics taking the band to a higher level of popularity and entering many charts within days of release. In October 2023, the band entered the recording studio in Göteborg. On 22 March 2024, Souls of Diotima surprisingly released a new single to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their artistic career. The song, for the first time in their career, is a cover of the well-known international artist, Phil Collins called “Another Day in Paradise”. The band will soon announce their 2026 tours and their presence at various festivals.

Italian SOULS OF DIOTIMA have announced a few more details about the next album, and it is no small detail. Fabio Puddu, already the band’s guitarist, will from the next album become the band’s vocalist together with the band’s front woman Claudia Barsi.
“This detail could perhaps give us some more idea of the new artistic mood taken by the band, which, as Claudia Barsi herself has already revealed in a previous press release, will be a completely new direction compared to the past. Recall that the band will enter Studio Bohus in Sweden this summer with their producer Oscar Nilsson for the production of the new album. We look forward to more details!”
In 2024, SOULS OF DIOTIMA released their stand-alone single for Phil Collins’ ‘Another Day In Paradise’, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their artistic career!
The single of “Another Day in Paradise” released via Diotima Records Music Management Ltd and distributed by Blood Blast Distribution, was produced at Crehate Studios in Gothenburg by Oscar Nilsson with the help of Simon Eliasson.
Italian SOULS OF DIOTIMA have announced, after their first twenty years of career and the release of their latest single ‘Another Day in Paradise’, that they are turning over a new era of the band by officially announcing the entry into Studio Bohus of Oscar Nilsson for the production of their fifth album, which will begin their musical turnaround.
The frontwoman Claudia Barsi says: “After these first twenty years that we absolutely do not deny, indeed we will continue to perform live all our discography, we finally decided both musically and aesthetically to create what we really are and feel inside. Our first productions, which are absolutely fantastic, always followed that classic female metal trend, perhaps following certain well-known canons, and today we have arrived at such an awareness that we are finally able to create something that is really ours and to be and present ourselves to the audience as we really are. But again, of course, we love our previous productions and we will continue to perform them live. Hence the decision, for now, to remain as the official line-up: me, Fabio and Giorgio being the main proponents of this new step. In the future, it’s not said that there will be no new entries”.

More information:
Souls of Diotima is a band with a unique style, characterized by recognizable elements of traditional, progressive and symphonic metal, as well as unconventional elements, woven musically in a new and highly expressive way. The band’s music engages all the senses and conveys a feeling similar to watching an epic film, creating strong visual scenes and almost tangible mental images. The defining characteristic of Souls of Diotima is its style, which recalls Mediterranean atmospheres and traditions. In fact, the band hails from Sardinia, an island in the center of the Mediterranean Sea. This makes its sound and style unique and recognizable.
The band has participated in tours and festivals abroad, headlining and sharing the stage with bands such as Obituary, Hatebreed, Stratovarius, Vision Divine, Dgm, Folkstone, Saurom and others. Soon the band will announce new dates and a new tour, while waiting to re-enter the studio for the production of their fifth album.

Italian female fronted metallers SOULS OF DIOTIMA have a huge pleasure to announce Luca Manca, as their new bass player:

Luca is not only a great musician but he has a humanity and a sensitivity that struck us from the first meeting, an aspect that is really important to us. We are sure that Luca’s sound and hands on the bass will give Souls that extra piece that we have been looking for for a long time. Welcome to the family!”
Luca Manca adds: “It’s an honor to be part of the Souls Of Diotima family. I’m ready to give my contribution and share my experience and attitude and have fun with the guys!”

Just recently Fabio “The Black Mask” Puddu, band’s guitarist revealed the first interesting details: “We felt the need to give a new breath of fresh air to our genre, trying to make it more modern with dark sounds, full of power and lower tunings, without abandoning our stylistic imprint which is the one that allowed the band to earn an important place in the panorama of the world metal scene!! We are constantly working on the composition of new songs even before entering the studio to record the latest single ‘Another Day in Paradise’ by our producer Oscar Nilsson! We already have some tracks ready and we are really satisfied with the work done so far.. we can’t wait to finish the album to leave you speechless!!”
