Ukranian metalcore force SPACE OF VARIATIONS is unstoppable – while living through the horrors of war in their home country, the band still manages to express themselves through their creative, emotional and hard-hitting music and videos. Today, SPACE OF VARIATIONS reveals a new, mesmerizing music video for the powerful album title track “IMAGO”!
SPACE OF VARIATIONS have also announced that the album release of IMAGO is being delayed once more to September 23, 2022, given the current circumstances.
SPACE OF VARIATIONS about the release of IMAGO: “Hello world! The war in our country has changed everything. New reality is ruthless. Although it’s hard, we keep trying to be SOV – the band you’ve always known. Therefore, as much as it’s possible, we’ll be seeking balance in this chaos and sharing what we created before this terrible war began.”

Due to the ongoing war in their homeland of Ukraine, metalcore unit SPACE OF VARIATIONS have made the difficult decision to delay the release of their upcoming album, IMAGO, to May 20, 2022. The album, which was originally due out March 18, features the already-released singles “vein.mp3” and “SOMEONE ELSE”.
SPACE OF VARIATIONS on the decision to postpone their album: “As we sit here waiting for things to ‘get better’ here at home, we have come to the sad decision that we must move our new album release date to May 2022. We just cannot focus on our music while war is being waged on the streets of Ukraine… we are praying that this terrible and horrifying situation will be over very soon so we can get back to our normal lives. Just know that we have read your messages and that alone gives us the strength to carry on! Until then – keep on listening and supporting us and other Ukrainian bands, it’s never been more important than it is now!”

Unstoppable Ukrainian metalcore unit SPACE OF VARIATIONS drifts off into distant universes with their second single “vein.mp3”, taken from their upcoming full-length, IMAGO (out March 18 via Napalm Records). Like a bestial alien, “vein.mp3” goes wild with shattering drums, thudding bass, heavily distorted guitars and evil screams. Following first single “SOMEONE ELSE”, “vein.mp3” provides another varied taste of what’s to come on IMAGO, and the band’s live attack, as witnessed during their previous performances with modern metal giants JINJER across Europe. Beware of this musical demon named SPACE OF VARIATIONS!
SPACE OF VARIATIONS Singer Dima on “vein.mp3”: “We are a by-product of our systems and concepts. Slaves of micro worlds. Fragile eyewitnesses of our own strength and weakness. We find each other and lose ourselves in someone, watching how beautiful becomes disgusting. From the dense darkness we reach for the light. This is how we feel about this song. This is probably what you feel sometimes.”
Furiously crashing opener “SOMEONE ELSE” sets free the uncompromising spirit of SPACE OF VARIATIONS – instantly breaking down genres and placing a forceful exclamation mark at the start with smashing instrumentation and a feverish vocal and lyrical assault by Dmytro Kozhukhar and Olexii Zatserkovnyi. Devastatingly heavy “1M followers” takes no prisoners from the first second and features a hefty appearance from former Asking Alexandria vocalist Denis Stoff, resulting in a fearless, addictive metalcore banger. Tracks like eponymous “IMAGO” and intense mid-tempo “Serial Killer” emphasize the multifaceted nature of SPACE OF VARIATIONS with sporadically scaled-back instrumentation and emotion turned to 10. On the contrary, previously released penultimate post-hardcore dystopia “Ultrabeat” delivers bone-crushing beats and is by far no stranger to the band’s devotees. Closing with an insane verse from Ukrainian rap sensation ALYONA ALYONA, the track undeniably marks a milestone in the unit’s soon-to-be revered history while representing the seething desire to expand all limits of songwriting and creativity. This mindset embodies SPACE OF VARIATIONS and their sonically boggling ode to the future, IMAGO.
SPACE OF VARIATIONSon IMAGO: “The main symbolism of the album is hidden in its title – IMAGO. In entomology, imago is the last stage an insect attains during its metamorphosis. In psychology, it’s one of the fundamental concepts, an unconscious mental image a person has of himself, other objects of reality and his blood ties through the prism of his perception. As an insect breaks through the shell of a chrysalis to free itself from the protective cocoon surrounding it, you, too, through inner transformation can really become the new being, which, in fact, you were always meant to be. Imago = new stage, Imago = maturation.
Only in retrospect can one see the imago, which was previously hidden in the shadows. The future is being prepared in the bosom of the past and the present. Imago is the most complete convergence with yourself that can only happen. With this album, SPACE OF VARIATIONS are definitely moving to a new round of self-development as a creative organism.”
Unstoppable Ukrainian ultra-modern metalcore unit SPACE OF VARIATIONS have made a name for themselves in the international scene, but now take it to the absolute next level with their upcoming in-your-face full-length, IMAGO, officially set for release on March 18, 2022 via Napalm Records.
IMAGO seamlessly mixes gut-punching hardcore riffs and catastrophic breakdowns with colorful electronics, brutalizing vocals and, at times, trance-like synth – exploring elements of djent, hip-hop and even hyperpop influence along the way. The album’s addictively erratic, emotive atmosphere echoes their spontaneous live performance; having previously toured with modern metal giants Jinjer, the four-piece relentlessly smashed European stages while captivating each listener with futuristic stylings reverberating the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Norma Jean and LANDMVRKS.
Today, the band steps up their game with hard-hitting first single “SOMEONE ELSE” – loaded with aggressive screams, charging transitions and synth elements that leave no room for rest, the track delivers a promising glimpse of what fans can expect from the new album. Keep an eye on this futuristic metal monster!
SPACE OF VARIATIONS on “SOMEONE ELSE”: “The ‘SOMEONE ELSE’ video is a metaphor. It talks about individualism, talks about the originality of every one of us as human creations. Talks about how we all involved to social life. And how sometimes it feels like a pain. To play a role, and not being your real self is suffering. This video shows how a faceless crowd tries to destroy the individuality of a main character, tries to kill him, and tries to make him looks the same as they are.
In this song, the character goes through stages of acceptance, realizing the facets of all the beautiful and terrible he has inside. Paradoxically, an internal puzzle becomes complete only through disassembling oneself. Acceptance of reality, no matter how good or bad it is, is sobering. This is IMAGO. Just keep your inner fire burning hot.”
Following their 2019 Napalm Records debut, the XXXXX EP, an unbridled SPACE OF VARIATIONS breaks new ground and transcends all expectations with their exciting and undeniably fresh second studio album IMAGO.

Following up to the release of their Napalm Records debut EP XXXXX in 2019, Ukranian metalcore unit SPACE OF VARIATIONS is finally back with a bang, releasing their new single „ULTRABEAT“today, along with an impressive dystopian music video!
Seamlessly mixing gut-punching riffs and pounding drums with colorful, pulsing synths and elements of hip-hop, the four-piece takes no prisoners from the second the song starts. Dmytro Kozhukhar’s vocals cut through the dense instrumental ever so clear with angry, bold lyrics – reminiscent of legends like BODY COUNT and HATEBREED, as guitarist and singer Olexii Zatserkovnyi then delivers the melodic hook, giving “ULTRABEAT” its unique post-hardcore feel. Finishing off with an insane verse from Ukranian rap sensation alyona alyona, SPACE OF VARIATIONS embodies the spirit of breaking down genres and letting the music speak for itself!

SPACE OF VARIATIONS about the making of “ULTRABEAT”: “We wanted to do something special, different and unexpected on the new record. We wanted to expand the limits of our songwriting and creativity and do the same for the listener… That’s when the idea of a collaboration with Ukrainian hip-hop queen alyona alyona was born. She liked the idea of seeing herself in a new, “heavy metal” way, and so alyona alyona became the first artist featured on a track with us. We are so proud with the result!”
„ULTRABEAT“ is an exciting glimpse into what can be expected from the next full-length album from SPACE OF VARIATIONS, which the band is currently working on!

Ukrainian metalcore beasts SPACE OF VARIATIONS have unleashed a brand new video for “Будут Наказаны” (“They Will Be Punished”), taken from their 2020 Napalm Records debut EP XXXXX. The footage was filmed during their unforgettable shows in Kyiv and the legendary Faine Misto Festival, as well as on tour supporting comrades and friends JINJER on their sold out European Macro Tour 2019.
“Будут Наказаны” is a blistering burst of in-your-face Metalcore fury that has a long history with SPACE OF VARIATIONS.
Singer Dima Kozhuhar states: „Будут Наказаны (They Will Be Punished) is actually one of our oldest songs, written in 2009 when I was 18 years old. It’s a huge fan favorite and I think that we‘ve played it at every show the last 11 years. It’s a hymn of youth and hatred… It’s a message from ourselves from the past – to ourselves in the present saying that burning hearts can move mountains. When we signed to Napalm we decided that it should finally get the recording it deserves.”
SPACE OF VARIATIONS recently released their MDX Live Session, a 6 song video recorded live in an abandoned soviet era cinema, celebrating the two year anniversary of their highly praised self-released album Mind Darknet, where the XXXXX EP tracks “Razorblade” and “Room 57” were also included. Watch the full video HERE.
Taking advantage of Covid-19 lockdown downtime, SPACE OF VARIATIONS are currently working on and writing their debut full-length album release for Napalm Records to be released in Fall 2021.
