Internationally acclaimed 7 string guitar virtuoso, singer, songwriter THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF is known for everything from her viral guitar virtuoso videos, to her role as a vocal coach and expert judge on the big TV show “Battle of the Stars.” On November 22nd 2018 she is releasing the first of four albums, with new, original music; “Berit – Vol.1”. This time she is showcasing her tremendous skills as a songwriter and a world class singer, with a truly unique voice – a Bel Canto trained voice. And yet again she is surprising her fans and listeners with a new genre.
Her classical crossover album charted at number 1 on Amazon in 2014, and is still going in and out of the charts, after a successful transition from heavy metal, where she first made her name. She smashed her way into the metal scene, with her very own version of Black Sabbath’s biggest hit “Paranoid,” leaving no doubt about how courageous she is. It landed her features in all the biggest metal and rock magazines, with performances on big festivals.
The two songs from the new album are;
“Stay With Me” – a super catchy and very different love song, with an incredibly beautiful ending and impressive vocal arrangements. This is also the first piano song from the album, showcasing yet another instrument she plays:
“Why So Hostile?” This is her own personal favourite from the album. It takes you back to the era of great songwriting and singers, in the -60s and -70s, with its hauntingly beautiful vocals and melody. The electric guitar adds a touch of magic, complementing the vocal line perfectly. As one listener said; “ this is her House of The Rising Sun.”
She has announced that she will release a new song and music video every Thursday, until the official release date for the album, which is November 22nd 2018. It is the first of four albums, with new, original music.
This also marks her producer debut, after working with high profile producers such as Sterling Winfield (Pantera, BB King) in the past. Sterling Winfield’s statement about her still rings true, as we are now starting to see the true versatility and magnitude of her many, diverse talents. He was the one telling her that “one day you need to record a more acoustic album, with that voice, Berit!” And now she has done just that. Here is a part of his statement about her, from their previous cooperation in heavy metal:
“I am always looking for something new and different to work on, but I have to say that when the unique talents of THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF crossed my desk a few months ago, I was blown away! This was definitely new and different!
In my twenty plus years as a producer and engineer I can honestly say that I have never seen or heard anything like what she has to offer.”
