The band schedule for Sweden Rock Festival 2016 is now complete and posted on our website, at this location.

The schedule is a result of the artists’ tour schedules, travelling plans and wishes, but we have also done our best to avoid collisions between bands of similar genres.

Please note that we will not post the band schedule on the app yet. This is due to that we are developing a brand new app, and therefore you would only have needed to re-do your personal schedule in the new app later anyways. Thanks for your patience with this, and have a Happy Easter!

Sweden Rock 2016, set to take place on June 8th-11th in Sölvesborg, has announced the last 13 bands for this year’s Sweden Rock Festival (see the poster below), making the full 82-band line-up complete:

Guitar wunderkind Michael Schenker started his career in Scorpions and UFO before forming his own band MSG. This summer, he makes a very special appearance at the Sweden Rock Festival: under the new moniker Michael Schenker Fest, he will be joined by no less than 3 legendary MSG singers – Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet and Robin McAuley – to perform MSG classics from albums like “Michael Schenker Group”, “Assault Attack” and “Save Yourself”. This will be the only Michael Schenker Fest concert in Scandinavia, and the only in Europe featuring all 3 singers.

The US based Symphony X rank among the world’s leading progressive metal acts. Their current European tour for the outstanding “Underworld” album does not reach Sweden, but the band will make up for it by coming to the Sweden Rock Festival this summer.

Also confirmed is guitar hero supreme and Sweden Rock debutant Steve Vai as well as hard rock pioneers Vanilla Fudge, who still have three members from their 1967 debut album in the band, and the groundbreaking, Norwegian black metal band Mayhem, who will bring back their former vocalist Maniac for an Scandinavian-exclusive one-off appearance at Sweden Rock.

We are delighted to also be able to welcome space rockers Hawkwind, power metal heroes Gamma Ray, prog super trio The Winery Dogs, Swedish death metal icons Entombed AD, the new and smoking hot pub rock band The Temperance Movement, heavy metal cult band Slough Feg, Canadian heavy rockers Monster Truck and returning Sweden Rock crowd pleasers Rockklassiker All-Stars.

Sweden Rock 2016 has announced new bands for next summer’s festival line-up, set to take place on June 8th-11th in Sölvesborg:

With Slayer and Megadeth previously announced, the addition of Anthrax to the line-up means that three quarters of “the big 4” of thrash metal are confirmed to visit Sölvesborg this summer! Anthrax, who have not played Sweden Rock since 2005, are returning with their classic vocalist Joey Belladonna behind the microphone and have a brand new album out in late February.

Original Accept vocalist Udo Dirkschneider has been fronting his own band U.D.O. since the late 80’s. About a decade after his last reunion stint with Accept, he is bidding his final farewell to his old bands catalogue with a tour under the name Dirkschneider, where he and his new band are performing Accept songs exclusively. After this tour, Udo has vowed never ever to sing an Accept song again, so this may be the last chance for his Swedish fans to hear him sing classics like “Balls to the wall”, “Fast as a shark” and “Metal heart”.

One of the greatest female icons in rock, Lita Ford, has also been confirmed for the festival. She had her breakthrough with legendary The Runaways before launching a long and successful solo career which has produced the big hit (and Ozzy Osbourne duet) “Close My Eyes Forever”, among many other songs. We can expect Lita to be eager to prove herself this summer: her last visit to Sweden Rock, in 2009, did not quite turn out as planned since her second guitarist was unable to come with the band to Europe due to passport problems.

Sweden Rock 2016 has announced another 13 acts for next summer’s festival line-up, set to take place on June 8th-11th in Sölvesborg:

In the last decade, SABATON has evolved into one of Sweden’s premier music exports. Next summer, they return to Sweden Rock Festival, with a big stage show and a new album under their belts.

Bassist Pär Sundström comments: “When we first played at Sweden Rock Festival back in 2005, it was the biggest and best rock festival in Sweden, and we were a relatively young band who opened on the smallest stage. Now, more than ten years later, it will be amazing to return to what is still the biggest and best rock festival in Sweden, and close the main stage!”

MEGADETH are one of the “Big 4” of thrash metal and seem to be making a big splash with their forthcoming “Dystopia” album. Next summer, they visit Sweden Rock for the first time in eleven years.

Also returning are FOREIGNER – one of the greatest AOR bands in history and the masterminds behind hits like “I want to know what love is”, “Cold as ice”, “Hot blooded”, “Juke box hero” and “Waiting for a girl like you”.

Sweden Rock Organizers have announced the first 22 bands for the Sweden Rock 2016 line-up, set to take place on June 8-11:

The wait is over! We proudly present the first 22 confirmed bands confirmed for Sweden Rock Festival 2016.

We can now officially confirm that The Hellacopters will be reuniting for a single, world-exclusive show at next year’s festival. The band played their farewell shows in Stockholm in 2008, but in June next year their 1996 line-up reforms for one night only to celebrate the 20^th anniversary of their debut album “Supershitty to the max”.

We are also proud to announce the last show in Sweden ever by Twisted Sister.  After reuniting for the 2003 edition of the Sweden Rock Festival, one of the most acclaimed live bands in the world is coming full circle next year, by playing their only Swedish show on their final tour in Sölvesborg. Following the tragic loss of drummer AJ Pero, the surviving original members will be backed by none other than former Dream Theater sticksman Mike Portnoy.

Among the other 20 acts announced today are King Diamond, who will perform a special “Abigail” set for the first and possibly last time ever in Sweden, featuring what is said to be the bands most elaborate stage production ever. Special mentions are also in place for the only Avantasia show in Sweden next year, which is sure to make for a spectacular evening, and Satyricon, who will perform their classic “Nemesis Divina” album in its entirety.
