Italian Doom Deathsters TETHRA have just released a new lyric video for the track “Dying Signal”, taken from their latest album “Empire of the Void” released via Black Lion Records.
“Dying Signal’s lyrics are a metaphor for the progressive deterioration of human relationships in modern society. The models imposed by TV, social media and consumerism brought to excess is taking away the ability to stop and reflect, because nowadays we are all so interconnected that each of us expects almost immediate feedback from the other, and for this, it’s not always easy to be able to argue properly about a personal opinion. Sometimes it is easier to shout your own reasons without listening to the others. This is one of the heavier and “in-the-face” songs of the new album “Empire of the Void”, but it manages to keep our melodic and dark side intact.” – Clode, singer.
For fans of Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Novembers Doom, Katatonia
Italian melancholic death/doom act TETHRA‘s upcoming third album, Empire of the Void, is less than a month away from its release date. Metal Italia debuts the video for the 6th track, “A Light Year Breath”, that features Gogo Melone (Aeonian Sorrow) as the guest vocals. The album drops this March 20 on Black Lion Records on both digipak CD and digital formats.
The band comments: “For this second single, we wanted to play with colors and the emotions associated with them, taking the listener to the edge of the universe through a tunnel made of ink and swirls of dense smoke.”

The concept around the new album Empire of the Void focuses on the duality between what is hidden inside the depths of the human soul and the vastness sidereal space — both empires of the void. Recorded and mixed from August to November 2019 by Matt Stancioiu at Elnor Studios and mastered by Greg Chandler (Esoteric) at Priory Recordings Studios, this album contains nine original numbers of elegant melodies and a dismal, doomy cover of David Bowie’s timeless masterpiece “Space Oddity” (available only on the CD version). Through the personal blend of progressive doom, death metal, and the most evocative gothic metal, Tethra strung along with a very dynamic songwriting process on this album while remaining faithful to the sound built for more than ten years of activity.

TETHRA’s full-length album, “Like Crows for The Earth” was recorded and mixed by Matt Stancioiu (Labyrinth) at Elnor Studios and mastered by Greg Chandles (Esoteric) at Priory Studios. In support of their new album, the band have just released a new video for the title track ‘Like Crows For The Earth’. This is the first full official video from the album following The Groundfeeder released earlier in the year. Watch the video below:
Tethra’s new video conveys a strong message, the band explained about the imagery: ”The deliberately strong and provocative images you can see in the video are meant to reflect on the indiscriminate exploitation that human beings are doing daily to the damage of the planet hosting us.Our symbolic sacrifice wants to be a warning and a message: we are one with nature, and only by taking care of it we can favour the rebirth and have a darker future.”
Tethra produces elements such as acoustic breaks, striking solos and Doom-influenced melodies are mixed with charismatic vocals courtesy of the versatile frontman Clode Tethra. Blending gloomy Doom Metal, raging Death Metal and melodic early 90s Gothic Metal tinged vocals, Tethra will be the last nail on your cross.
The frontman explains: “In terms of songwriting, the lyrics have become more intimate on “Like Crows for The Earth”, focusing on topics such as loss, solitude and feelings of rejection. The album also deals with social issues, such as mankind’s indiscriminate exploitation of the Earth, metaphorically represented by the crow: if not stopped, this animal poses an undeniable threat to its ecosystem and is bound to destroy all other species.”
Ten years, securing the opportunity to support the Italian Doom act, Thunderstorm and being invited to plaethra is an Italian Doom Metal five piece who formed in 2008.
