Danish extreme metal quintet THE ARCANE ORDER have released their highly anticipated new album “Distortions From Cosmogony”, out yesterday, June 9 via Black Lion Records.

Guitarist and composer Flemming C. Lund on the album:

Flemming C. Lund comments: “This song contains more of the traditional The Arcane Order riffs that we started back on the “In the Wake of Collisions” album with epic choruses and some Devin-like passages to make a lot of variations on the song. This is a song that has “a little bit of everything” and was among one of the first songs to be written for the new album.” 

Lead singer Kim Song Sternkorpf adds: “The lyrics are a rumination over the intoxication of power and how it can corrupt man enough to do anything to hold on to it with all means necessary.
We put trust in authority and governance of other men and women. The actions and decisions of people with power have always written the story and the light in which the kings and queens of old will be perceived as either scheming tyrants or just kings.
Tell us the lie we want to hear. Because everyone likes a good tale. Maybe a good leader can save the day so we don’t have to take responsibility. It’s always easier to make Gods than to be one.“

With its new experienced line-up featuring members of renowned acts such as Soilwork, Møl and HateSphere, THE ARCANE ORDER created an epic metal album within its singular style combining the extreme, the grandiose, technical and melodic while telling the story of mankind’s eternal existential conflict between autonomy and submission.

The band’s upcoming fourth album is a 54 minutes long virtuosic display of THE ARCANE ORDER’s unique fusion of death, black, tech, classic and melodic metal. The band’s skillful balancing of the epic and aggressive, the extreme and melodic and of the technical and catchy is unfolded in a dramatic songwriting taking the band’s expression to new heights, while demanding complete devotion from the listener – who are equally rewarded, if this is delivered. 

As the previous three, THE ARCANE ORDER’s new album “Distortions from Cosmogony” is recorded by Jacob Hansen (Aborted, Arch Enemy, Volbeat, Katatonia a.o.) and in addition Jacob Bredahl (Lifesick, Eyes, Livløs ao.) has recorded vocals, while the guitars were tracked in Flemming C. Lund’s home studio.

Guitarist Flemming C. Lund comments: “For this song we really wanted to create a relentless banger! It’s definitely one of the fastest songs we ever made, and Bastian is grinding his brains out behind the drum kit! The song is quite death metal inspired, mixed with some more ferocious black metal riffing and vocals.“

Lead singer Kim Song Sternkorpf comments: “‘Children of Erebos’ is a parable over the concept of divine or malignant intervention like cautionary tales told to kids to make the abide by the rules of their parents. 

It serves as an interpretation of the saying ‘if you give the devil a little finger he takes the whole hand’. I wanted to use older deities than the typical Judeo-Christian mythology since hierarchies play a big part in the Greek Mythos.

The older the deities are, the more scary and mysterious they seem. The insignificance of man faced with cosmic forces is an embedded fear in our nature. To put a name to the fear helped man through the ages – though this particular fear is very much alive today either through the forces of nature or perhaps artificial intelligence? All things with indescribable force surmounting our comprehension. The fear of the unknown.“

Danish extreme metal quintet THE ARCANE ORDER is gearing up for the release of the band’s highly anticipated fourth album “Distortions From Cosmogony”, which will see the light of day set on June 9th via Black Lion Records. While the first single “Cry of Olympus” already gave an intense insight into the upcoming album, the band follows up today with a brand new music video for the track “The First Deceiver”. Guitarist Flemming C. Lund comments: 
“On this song we wanted a darker kind of vibe while utilizing some sinister harmonies we never did before. A bit like in the older Pestilence-songs from the ‘Malleus Maleficarum’ era, while still mixing it up for a more progressive chorus and some dark yet groovy passages to spice things up.”

Lead singer Kim Song Sternkorpf elaborates on the song theme: 
“From a lyrical perspective, the song is about Prometheus, the perfect anti-hero. The myth of how he had to flee the wrath of the gods for bestowing the gift of fire to man served as one of the best classical narratives of rebellion and liberation. Is he a self sacrificing saviour of man or has he brought ruin on us all for giving men a tool to undermine the reign of the divine?”

“The Cry of Olympus is the first single from the album and probably the most progressive of the songs on the album. We purposely wanted to create a song that would work well as a first impression of the new album and a gateway into the rest of the songs on the album.
