The two guitar virtuosos, The Commander-In-Chief (also known as the Queen of Shred) and classical guitarist, Thomas Valeur, are totally overwhelmed by the positive feedback and amount of support this release has gotten.
This is the first professional guitar duel between a metal guitarist and a classical guitarist. This is the first time this piece of music has been recorded on guitar. The response has been 99% positive, with metal fans being very supportive of it.

It is also, as far as we know, the first guitar duel between a classical and a metal guitarist.
The music was recorded at Modern World Studios in Cotswolds, England. It was produced and mixed by James Mottershead, who has worked on numerous albums that has charted in the UK. It was mastered by Oscar and Grammy nominated Stephen Marsh (Life of Pi, Megadeth).
As the producer says in the video interview, we released yesterday:”Everything you hear on this recording is a performance. There are no studio tricks of any kind. They played it until we got the perfect takes”.

I am proud to announce that my artist, 7string guitarist/singer/songwriter THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF has published a video interview with herself, producer James Mottershead and the Classical guitar virtuoso she has cooperated with on her new recording, Thomas Valeur. The preparations have taken 5 months and the project has been surrounded by secrecy, since it is so unique.

This cooperation is the first professional guitar recording of an extremely challenging piece of Classical music, never before performed in its entirety, correctly, on guitar.
And as far as we have been able to find out, there has never been a professional recording of a guitar duel between a Metal guitarist and a Classical guitar virtuoso before, either.
Thomas Valeur has a master’s degree in music from the prestigious Grieg Academy in Bergen, Norway, and he has mesmerized audiences all over Europe with his Classical guitar playing. In November he performed at the Thorolf Rafto Memorial Prize Ceremony in Norway, which was broadcasted live on national TV, NRK.
The Chief was recently featured on national TV, NRK, as a pioneer and one of today’s role models for women in music. She has been featured in numerous international music magazines, such as Metal Hammer UK, where she was featured as “1 of 10 modern guitar Gods” and Total Guitar Magazine calling her “The Queen of shred”.

The single and performance video will be released tomorrow, December 4th, at 6pm UK time. The single will be available on Itunes, Amazon, CD Baby, etc and a limited number of signed CDs are available from The Commander-In-Chief’s website, after the release.
According to The Commander-In-Chief Management, Norwegian 7string guitarist/singer/songwriter THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF is about to release the result of her first cooperation with another guitarist. The two guitarists have done something that has never been done before, and for that reason the preparations and recording has been surrounded by mystery and secrecy. The Chief says this about the process:
“I am used to playing very technical, heavy riffs and fast solos for hours every day, but this is the toughest guitar challenge I have ever faced. We met on Skype every other week for months, to keep track of each other`s progress, and we were pushing each other very hard. At some point, both of us had to take two weeks off from playing, since we both got injuries from practicing the song.”
This is a cover song, re-arranged for guitars only. The single will be available from all major Digital download stores and as a signed CD single (limited number). The single and performance video will be released on December 4th 2013.
The Commander-In-Chief Management has issued the following:
7string guitarist/singer/songwriter THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF has been featured on national TV, NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation), in Norway as one of today´s role models and pioneers when it comes to Women in Music!
A team from NRK followed her for hours, during rehearsal and preparations for her performance at Scandinavia´s biggest cultural festival, Bergen International Festival, in June this year and they sat down with her for an extensive interview.
She is currently preparing for an upcoming recording that will take place in November, in cooperation with a male guitarist who is flying in from abroad to work with her. She will not reveal any information about the upcoming recording until she is in studio.
We are also very proud to announce that her first book will be published before Christmas this year. It is an illustrated children´s book, written and illustrated by The Chief. It will be available both as printed and e-book versions on Amazon and leading bookstores online, worldwide.
According to The Commander-In-Chief Management, Norwegian 7string guitarist/singer/songwriter THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF has released her hard-hitting song and video called “I am The Commander-In-Chief” tonight. Check it out below:
The strongly satirical song and video features The Chief in the role as a crazy dictator. She studied footage of some of the most brutal dictators ever to get into character for the video and she mocks them all in the various scenes and in the lyrics.
The song was recorded at Monnow Valley Studios (Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Queen). It was produced by The Chief, engineered and mixed by James Mottershead and mastered by Stephen Marsh (Megadeth, Los Lobos, Life of Pi).
The song features two fantastic guitar solos. Again she has no Auto tune or any other studio tricks on the recording. The song is the way she played and sang it in studio. The Chief did all guitars and vocals, drums were done by Brian Tichy (Foreigner, Whitesnake,Billy Idol) and bass by Peter Sæverud.
Her mercenaries in the video came from the renowned British MMA club “Gods of War” in Reading. Head Coach Phil Else did choreography for the fighting scenes.
