Lisburn death doom trio The Crawling return with Live in Belfast MMXXIV, a stark, unfiltered document of the band at full weight. Captured at a packed hometown headline in Belfast’s Limelight 2 in November 2024, the record delivers their suffocating blend of death and doom exactly as performed, with no overdubs, no polish, and no compromise.

Formed in 2014, The Crawling have built a reputation for bleak, deliberate heaviness, appearing at Bloodstock, Inferno, Siege of Limerick, MetalDays and Incineration Festival, and sharing stages with Carcass, Winterfylleth, Gaerea, Abbath and Shores of Null. Following 2023’s All of This for Nothing, the new live album captures that same oppressive atmosphere in its rawest form.

“It suddenly hit me that The Crawling has been going ten years. Like most bands, the goal is to play live, and when you can’t reach everyone, the next best thing is to capture that energy. Live is where it all connects; the emotion, the sound, the experience. That night in Belfast brought it all together, a packed home crowd, the recording, the filming, everything. It’s our way of saying thanks to those who’ve supported us from day one, and of introducing ourselves to anyone new. To finally release a live album is a lifelong dream. The eleven track set spans every era of the band’s catalogue, from “An Immaculate Deception” and “Bound to the Negative” to “Wolves and the Hideous White,” and stands as an honest reflection of their decade of work. THE CRAWLING‘s third album entitled, “All Of This For Nothing” explores the futility of existence, and the difficulty of living in our current world. The album’s 7 tracks span over 43 minutes, and is set for worldwide release July 28th 2023 via Grindscene Records.

Vocalist/guitarist Andy Clarke comments;

“Life is hard, very hard, at times almost impossible. I see more and more people make their lives so difficult with continued efforts to conform, fit in with societal cultures and expectation from so called peers. This is rarely effective, and often results in further misery and unhappiness.  The album looks at various iterations of this concept, along with the dreadful outcomes. The lyrics explore the lack of personal accountability in life, and the ultimate realisation none of the inane aspects matter, as life is finite … and you only get one go. Life is a journey through a bleak, cold, harsh reality … that ends in a void of nothingness.”

Death/doom trio, THE CRAWLING, have released their new single “Sparrow,” and accompanying live action lyric video. The song tells a haunting tale of isolation, misery, and the emotional outcome of living a pointless life; amplified by the fact so many ‘spectate’ a chain of events, without offering support.

The lyric video was written, created and filmed entirely alone by vocalist/guitarist Andy Clarke; solely due to lockdown restrictions, and the inability to use a professional studio. The single is accompanied in physical format by digiack CD, cassette, and a new exclusive t-shirt design (created by Serpent Tusk).

Vocalist / guitarist Andy Clarke commented;
 

“Lockdown restrictions in Northern Ireland didn’t allow for the band to even be in the same room together, let alone film a music video. I really hated the thought of releasing a new track without a video, as it’s something I really enjoy; so, my hand was forced to film something on my own. It’s not like our normal performance style videos, but more of a live action lyric video. It works well, emphasising the lyrics, whilst also creating the haunting imagery of the song.”
