Dark folk project THE DEVIL’S TRADETRADE is now unleashing a brand new live version of the song “Három Árva,” which is taken from the 2020 album ‘The Call of the Iron Peak.’ The track was recorded at the Templom venue in Budapest (HU) during the Fekete Zaj festival and features multiple guest artists.
The video, which was created by Peter Szabo, can be seen at THIS LOCATION.
Mastermind Dávid Makó comments on the video: “While writing I can hear most of my songs performed by a doom band with some kind of folk influence. So from the first album it has been a natural drive for me to redo these with full orchestration. When I got invited to Fekete Zaj, one of the most important underground festivals of Hungary, where I played several times before, I knew this is the right time and place to ask my old band HAW to join me and see if the imaginary soundscape could come alive.“
‘The Call of the Iron Peak’ is out NOW and can be ordered, streamed, and downloaded HERE.
Dark folk project THE DEVIL’S TRADE has teamed up with industrial noise collective JOHN CONNOR (ft. members of LLNN) to collaborate on a new creative approach for the track “Dead Sister,” which is taken from the band’s latest opus, ‘The Call of the Iron Peak.’ With the incorporation of dark beats and other electronic additions, a new sonic version was born; ‘Dead Sister Merope!’ The song and accompanying music video are available at THIS LOCATION.
THE DEVIL’S TRADE comments on the collaboration: “Only a handful of bands create such worlds I can relate to and when I saw LLNN in Budapest a few years ago, I immediately became a fan. So when Rasmus and Ketil asked me about their new electronic project, John Connor, I had a very hard time not to act like a crazy fanboy. Being a singer songwriter without a band I can build my songs up to a certain level but never to its full potential. They built it to a higher level where I am not able to go alone and where it became bigger than just a song.”
JOHN CONNOR comments on the collaboration: “With admiration for sci-fi music composers such as Alex North (Stanley Kubrick, 2001 – A Space Odyssey), Jóhan Jóhannsson (Denis Villeneuve, Arrival) and of course Brad Fiedel (James Cameron, Terminator) our creative approach was to launch ‘Dead Sister’ into space and in orbit. To create ‘something else’ light years apart from the original. Though still by maintaining the integrity and sincerity of the vocals. We’ve been enjoying the music from The Devil’s Trade for quite some time now, so it’s been a great experience to finally be working together. It’s an interesting match of musical expressions formed by the same DNA.“
‘The Call of the Iron Peak’ is out NOW and can be ordered, streamed, and downloaded HERE.

Dark singer-songwriter act THE DEVIL’S TRADE is now streaming a brand new live video for the highly emotional track ‘Dead Sister’, taken from the album ‘The Call of the Iron Peak’. The video was recorded during the very special release show of the one man’s act in Budapest (HU) last month. You can now watch the video via the official Season of Mist YouTube channel HERE.
THE DEVIL’S TRADE comment on the video: “After a seven months long hiatus in playing live especially in these times of uncertainty and resignation stepping on a stage was such a moving experience! I know I am amongst the luckiest musicians to have the chance to do what I love the most and can’t thank enough the people who made this possible. The venue Dürer kert is one of the last independent underground facilities in Hungary that is home for so many musicians and music lovers since 2008. It is now the next victim of the greed of our government. Not only do we have all these beautiful memories of the concerts of the bands we admire or our own shows but a few hundred bands had their rehearsal places and studios here. Both of the last two The Devil’s Trade albums got recorded here. This place was a shelter for us but we have to move out and the venue has a hopeless future too. The release show of ‘The Call Of The Iron Peak’ was the last one for me there.”
‘Dead Sister’ is taken from THE DEVIL’S TRADE‘s freshly released album ‘The Call of the Iron Peak’, which was released on August 28, 2020 and can be listened to in full HERE.

Frontman Dávid Makó comments on the track: “The concept of this song and the whole album came at 2000ms high in the Alps heading to a peak that was shining like it was iron. When I reached the peak the whole world around and in me went dead silent. Perfect peace and freedom like it was the afterlife. That silence I have been looking for since then.”

Frontman Dávid Makó comments on the track: “‘Három Árva’ is a cover of a Hungarian folk song, so called legend ballad from Kalotaszeg, Transylvania. It is about three orphans maltreated by their stepmother so trying to connect their dead mother to call her back. Christianity and occultism lives perfectly together in this song. The orphans manage to talk to their mothers but she can’t help them. I heard this song from Maria Sebestyén and Gergely Agócs but I never thought of singing it. If you listen to those two sing any songs you would understand why. It is another dimension of vocals that I feel blasphemy to try to enter. Also there is nothing wrong with a little blasphemy so I made my own version of the song. There are folk songs that will find their way into your life no matter how hard you try to avoid them.”
