According to DP Sepultura, SEPULTURA‘s new album, The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be the Heart, released yesterday in Brazil via Substantial Music, now strides to be a great success in the band’s history.

All 4,000 units of the album that the record company had ordered were acquired by retailers on the first day of its release. In informal conversations with the record company sales staff, many retailers reported that the positive comments about the new work of the band, and the huge anticipated demand from fans, obliged them to increase the stock of the product.

A number of new copies have been ordered by the label to the factory, and should hit stores in the coming days.

Legendary Brazilian metal icons SEPULTURA have just released via their Facebook Page, the new Album teaser for their upcoming album The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart.

The album will be released next friday, October 25, in Europe (Nuclear Blast) and Brazil (Substancial Music). A week before the release date, the “Blog DP No Estúdio Com O Sepultura” brings to you a teaser of the album. Check it out below.

You can listen to samples of six songs: “The Bliss of Ignorants”, “Trauma Of War”, “The Vatican”, “Grief”, “Manipulation of Tragedy” e “Obsessed”. “The mediator between head and hands must be the heart” is a bomb, varying between fast, aggressive and brutal songs with others in which the weight of the groove forms a true wall of sound. The artwork for The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart was created by Brazilian artist Alexandre Wagner (http://www.alwg.org). The album was recorded with renowned producer Ross Robinson (KORN, MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY), who worked with SEPULTURA on their landmark 1996 release Roots, and co-produced by Steve Evetts (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, SYMPHONY X, INCANTATION), who previously worked on SEPULTURA’s Roorback (2003), the Revolusongs EP (2002), and Nation (2001).
The Mediator Between Head And Hands Must Be The Heart will be released in North America as a jewel-case and as a digi-pak with a bonus DVD. The track listing for the album is:

According to Bravewords.com, SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser told to the blog DP no estúdio com o Sepultura that the mixing and mastering of the band’s forthcoming album, The Mediator Between The Head And Hands Must Be The Heart, are finished. The musician also confirmed that the album cover and tracklist will be revealed on August 26th.

In addition, Andreas reveals more about the upcoming successor to the Kairos album: “The mixing and mastering were done at the beggining of the week. Both proccess took place in paralel. We were here in Brazil, and Steve Evetts in the United States. We kept in touch through Skype. And everything went well.”

The Mediator Between The Head And Hands Must Be The Heart (inspired by the phrase which is the main message of Fritz Lang’s classic 1927 movie Metropolis), is scheduled to be released on October 25th via Nuclear Blast. Before that, the band has the idea of releasing two singles. One for the Brazilian market, seeking their Rock in Rio presentation on September – which would have the tracks ‘The Age Of The Atheist’ and ‘Da Lama ao Caos’ (CHICO SCIENCE & NAÇÃO ZUMBI cover). Outside Brazil, the single would have the same original song but with DEATH’s ‘Zombie Ritual’ cover.

Andreas also revealed to that a digipack version of the album will contain a DVD directed by Otavio Juliano (the director of Sepultura’s documentary). The DVD will bring the album making of, since the composition practices in Brazil to the recording sessions in the State, and also interviews with Ross Robinson and all the band members.

In his latest video Kisser talks about the title of the band’s new album, about the movie Metropolis, and explains why Sepultura chose a phrase instead of using a short name. Andreas also talks about the album cover:

The new album is set to feature nine songs (titles include ‘The Age Of The Atheist’, ‘Tsunami’, The Vatican’ and ‘Trauma Of War’) and two bonus tracks (the previously announced covers of Death and Brazilian group Chico Science & Nação Zumbi). The new Sepultura album will also feature a guest appearance from former SLAYER drummer, Dave Lombardo (PHILM).

Although being inspired by Fritz Lang’s classic 1927 movie “Metropolis”, the album is not set out to be a concept album or a soundtrack like it’s precedessors »Dante XXI« (“The Divine Comedy”) and »A-Lex« (“A Clockwork Orange”).

»The mediator between the head and hands must be the heart« was recorded together with renowned sound guru Ross Robinson (who already had worked with the band on their landmark release »Roots« back in 1996).

The highly anticipated album is scheduled for a late October 2013 release via Nuclear Blast.

Commented guitarist Andreas Kisser: “I was inspired by a phrase which is the main message of the story: “The mediator between the head and hands must be the heart” to express what we are saying on the lyrics.


In the movie, a crazy millionaire wants to transform a robot into a real person. That’s kind of the opposite of what we live today. More than ever we are robotized, through the worldwide web, Google glasses, chips under our skins and the globalized slavery our society suffers nowadays. The phrase points to the heart as being the human factor who keeps a man, a man, not a robot. The heart beats with freedom of choice, we have to think by ourselves to create a real world, not a matrix. 


Being a novel written in the early 1920’s, it’s almost prophetical. It helped us to put the ideas together for the lyrics to express what we see today. I live in São Paulo, Brasil, one of the big metropolis in the world with more than 20.000.000 people living and working in it. I know how it is to live in daily chaos, our music reflects a lot of that feeling.”


Adding about the musical direction of the new album and working with Ross Robinson again: “The album is brutal, fast and straight to the point, I feel this is the best SEPULTURA ever, no bullshit. To work with Ross Robinson again was a privilege, one of the best producers out there. He has a strong connection with nature, the human heart, with life in general. We did an album that is alive, no fake studio tricks, we were jamming together in the room exploding in an energy so strong you could grab it. The heart will never stop beating for mankind, we are no robots, we are pure natural energy and that’s worth fighting for. We’re not slaves, I have a pulsing heart!”
