The Metal Voice recently spoke to Singer / Bassist Glenn Hughes about his new up and coming solo album CHOSEN which will be released September 5, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.
Hughes also spoke about the passing of former Black Sabbath Sabbath singer and friend Ozzy Osbourne.
Glenn Hughes told The Metal Voice,” The band Black Sabbath and I have been my friends since 1970. We grew up in the same city really. I have known those guys from the very beginning. I feel for every single person for the loss of Ozzy but for me he was my friend. It’s very different when you lose someone close to you. Underneath all the crazy stuff on TV, he genuinely was a real kind good man. A lot of the stuff was produced on TV and it was all funny and it was great. But underneath it all he was a very working class kind man. “
Former W.A.S.P. guitarist CHRIS HOLMES sat down with The Metal Voice on a live chat and discussed the legacy and his personal stories with Ozzy Osbourne.
Holmes spoke about the legacy of Ozzy, “Every time I’ve ever met the guy (OZZY), he didn’t have a mean bone in his body. I never heard him say anything mean to anybody or about anything. I will say that. He (Ozzy) went to the top of the mountain and stayed there his whole life, you got to give him credit for that. We went on top and never came down. He was on top forever. “
Holmes went on to talk about the time he had few BBQ’s with the Osbournes when he was married to Lita Ford and Ford was managed by Sharon Osbourne.
According to the BBC Metal pioneer Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025
In a statement, his family said “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.
The Metal Voice, recently interview guitarist, fonder Tim Roth and singer Stu Block ( ex-Iced Earth) from INTO ETERNITY. The two spoke about the upcoming new studio album.
When asked about the new album ” We’re self-financing the new album. It’s been a long process; this has been going on for years now. All we have left is four songs for bass. All my guitars, drums, everything is all done. Basically, yeah, there’s not much left. Stu’s vocals will be the last thing here. So, yeah, 10 new songs. There may be 12 songs, ’cause we have a couple bonus songs as well. But, yeah, the album’s almost done, pretty much. ” Tim Roth
When asked about the musical direction “It’s gonna be all the heavy groove riffs, some, of course, tremolo picking riffs, a lot of acoustic stuff, amazing progressive drumming, off-time signatures, clean vocals, death vocals, fast soloing, double bass, and catchy courses. All 10 songs all have a very catchy chorus. Every single song will be catchy — as far as what I consider catchy. And this is our seventh album, so people will just have to trust us on this one. But, yeah, the new album is definitely on the way.” Tim Roth
” It’s exactly what you would expect from INTO ETERNITY, really. And the cool thing about INTO ETERNITY, is we can do whatever the heck we wanna do, to a certain extent. But we have a lot of rein to switch it up and do different things and explore different avenues and stuff. So I think it’s gonna be really cool. We’re all fans of metal and we’re all fans of experimentation as well, I think, and just seeing where we can push the limits of what we can do and become better and all that. So I think this album will definitely push those limits as well, and I think it’ll be really, really fun and it’s gonna be a great experience. And we’re gonna be able to get a lot out, a lot of emotion out, and like I said, from what I’m hearing, the album breathes in so many different ways organically that I think people will really dig it.”” Stu Block
When asked about the release date “There is no tentative release date for the new INTO ETERNITY album at the moment. “Stu Block
“That’s the great thing about self-financing and not being on a label, I guess. No one’s breathing down our neck, we have to get it done by this date or whatever. So we just want it to be the best possible product that we can put out.” Tim Roth
The band will perform at PROGSTORM in Montreal, Canada Aug 9, 2025
Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke to MEN WITHOUT HATS singer founder, Ivan Doroschuk about the bands new single ‘I LOVE THE 80’s, the bands upcoming new studio album and his collaborations over the years.
In the chat Ivan remembers recording with Jethro Tull’s singer Ian Anderson on the song , ON TUESDAY, taken off of the bands POP GOES THE WORLD which was release June 29, 1987.
Ivan recalls recording with Ian Anderson:
“The connection was through Derek Schulman from ‘Gentle Giant’ who used to tour with JETHRO TULL back in the back in the 70s. So he knew Ian. So because of ‘The Safety Dance’ video and the whole medieval thing. He (Derek Schulman) thought, it would be a great connection, which it was. And Ian came in and all he asked for was a six-pack of Grolsch beer and a Silver Shadow limousine (an antique limousine) to pick him up at the train station and drive him back after the gig. And he was great. I was really really nervous first of all to meet him because I grew up on Jethro Tull. The second thing is that the part that he had to play, it sounds all like the same thing, but every single line in the song is different. There’s little kind of little intricacies that make every little part different. And I didn’t want to be the guy sitting there with the talk back button going, “Sorry, Ian. I didn’t want to be the guy telling him what to do. But he came in and it was like one take. He knew every part. He knew all the little differences. He didn’t have to be told anything. He was a great, It was just a awesome experience. I can’t even think of a time that I’ve been let down by one of my musical heroes. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet a lot of the guys I grew up listening to and he was one of them. Often hear like, “Oh, this guy’s going to be difficult. He’s going to be this. He’s going to be that.” But he was just, he was awesome. He was awesome.”
The Metal Voice also spoke to IAN ANDERSON a few years ago and asked him about the same experience where Anderson said:
” It’s a nice tune that I was asked to play on because Ivan the main man was in London recording an album and he must have got wind of me having some positive comments about the Safety Dance. The song was quite a hit in the UK (Safety Dance) and a refreshing one it was almost an abandoned crazy hippy kind of video at a time where everything else was synth pop and rather contrived. This was a fun abandoned wacky song but everybody loved it in the U.K. and I enjoyed it too. I guess Ivan heard about that and said oh can we get Ian Anderson to play on a song and the record company got the message. So I trotted into the studio in London and recorded it and that was the end of it really. When I play on other people’s records I politely refuse any form of payment because I choose what to do I don’t do everything and I am certainly not a gun for hire. You can’t pay me to overcome my feelings for perhaps this is not the right thing for me to do or that I don’t really think I can add anything useful to your song. I have to feel like I can make a contribution. I am more likely to make that contribution if the music is someway away from what I do because then it becomes more of a challenge and I can step out of my normal musical area and tackle something a little different that I have not played before.”
Canada’s The Metal Voice recently interviewed Helloween singer Andi Deris. In the chat Deris talks about the bands upcoming studio album ‘Giants & Monsters which will be released August 29, 2025 (Reigning Phoenix Music).
They also spoke about on how he joined the band and the bands musical evolution.
Excerpt from the interview When asked about the Helloween’s Chameleon album prior to joining the band “Guitarist Michael Weikath gave me the (Helloween) Chameleon album to listen to. I went back to South Germany and listened to it and a day later he gave me a call and asked so what do you think ? Do you like it? I said look, I think it’s fantastic for Bonjovi and then he hung up and didn’t call for a week, (laughs). Hey I’m fan of Bon Jovi .I love a lot of Bon Jovi songs. I didn’t even mean it as a negative thing. The music is great. I like Chameleon but it’s not Halloween. I told everybody If Bon Jovi would have actually recorded this album it would have been a number one album. But fans who waited for a Halloween album I think they were shocked there was like nothing to do with Halloween anymore. Even Pink Bubbles has Halloweenish stuff on it but on the Chameleon it was eradicated. If not for the great voice of Michael (Kiske) you would have would have never realized or recognized that it’s Halloween, that’s my humble opinion.”

The Metal Voice‘s Jimmy Kay recently spoke to BON JOVI, TRIUMPH guitarist Phil X.
In the chat, Phil X dives into the details of the Triumph reunion that took place during the pre-game 2 show in Edmonton as part of the hockey playoffs. He also shares his favorite Bon Jovi songs, reflects on growing up Greek, talks about his new album PHIL X & THE DRILLS – Pow Right in the Kisser, released in March 2025, and much more.
When asked about the Triumph Reunion show ‘We rehearsed the day before. I wish we would have more time even though it was just three songs. We kept changing endings and arrangements and stuff like that, it would have been good to have two days to plow through everything and then jump on stage. But I’m still happy with how it came out. The next day it exploded, everything’s on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram. When it was done I spoke with Gil (Moore) on Monday and I’m like “Man are you guys still buzzing like we are?” And he was like even more. I got to say what was really endearing to me after rehearsal Gil was like “Hey we’re all going to have dinner at the restaurant at the hotel So join us. So we all walked in and out of 20 people family, friends and boyfriends and girlfriends and Gil and Rick (Emmett) were sitting together and just like little kids cracking up and stuff like that, it was really endearing to see that. Also their smiles man, the whole time we were on stage the smiles were unbelievable it was just It was really cool to be a part of that it really was.’
When asked about how much advance notice they got prior to the performance ‘It all happened boom boom boom like that. I can let you in the little behind the scenes thing .Gil (Moore) says hey we’re going to play a song and then it’s hey we’re going to play three songs and I’m like I need to know if this is confirmed and it wasn’t. On Monday, on the Monday preceding the Friday that we played he was like “It’s not 100% yet but we’re going to do three songs. (Gil Said) I want to do ‘Allied Forces’, ‘Fight the Good Fight’ and Lay it on the line and I’m like “Okay cool.” So I call Brent (Fitz) and and Todd (Kerns) and I say “These are the three songs that we’re doing and everybody can get into prep mode and we can prepare those three songs.”
And then Gill said “Okay so I think you guys should just play ‘Allied Forces’ and ‘Fight The Good Fight’ and then me and Rick will jump on stage when we do ‘Lay it on the Line’ cuz it’s the playoff song.” And we’re like “Okay we we can do that sure.” So Brent, Todd and I can get it together where it’s we feel like it’s presentable to the O.G. guys as we wanted to blow their minds. Then somebody walks in and says “Uh oh by the way they’re (Gil and Rik) are playing on all songs.” Okay now we know arrangements are going to change that’s why I wish we had two days so arrangements are gonna change okay I’m I’m ready for that. Then Gil walks in and he goes “Philly baby.” He always calls me Philly baby there’s never just a Phil or even Philly there’s always a ‘baby’. Philly baby and I give him a big hug and he goes “So hey when we go into Magic Power,” I’m like “Wait what?” Nobody said anything about Magic Power he goes “Well the management wants us to do it instead of ‘Fight the Good Fight’ they think it’s a better it’s a bigger song.” I’m like “We’re not doing Magic Power.” And and Todd and Brent are even more Canadian than me they want to make everybody happy and Todd’s like “No we can.” I’m like “Shut up no (laughs).” No we’re not doing ‘Magic Power’ we are doing these three songs that’s what we’re doing and Gil goes “You’re the boss let’s go. And that’s how it went down. It went like berserk on the internet the next day right it would have been nice to have Mike (Levine) too but he just couldn’t back out of that (Doctor’s) appointment that he had because of how it takes forever to get a second appointment. Just to appease everybody’s curiosity there’s all kinds of talk going on, so we’ll see what happens. If he (Rik Emmett) doesn’t have the bug after that I don’t know what it would take.
When asked if he would do it again ‘Obviously, schedule is of importance you know um cuz I have other stuff going on everybody has, Todd and Brent have other stuff going on. We’re all busy musicians. But I would do it again for sure yeah it’s a no-brainer. ‘
