Following the acclaimed release of their latest album “Wild Dogs Unchained” via Massacre Records, legendary US heavy metal power trio THE RODS have unveiled the new video for “Tears for the Innocent” — a haunting and emotionally charged track which stands as one of the most poignant moments on the record.
Written and sung by guitarist/vocalist David “Rock” Feinstein, “Tears for the Innocent” is a heartfelt reflection on the devastation of war and the human suffering it leaves behind.
“This song is about senseless war, and the innocent people that die because of it,” explains Feinstein. “We cry for those innocent people and feel sorry for what they have lost — their homes, their land, their lives.”
With its powerful message and stirring melodies, “Tears for the Innocent” showcases THE RODS’ timeless ability to merge heavy riffs with genuine emotion — a reminder that classic metal can still carry deep meaning and conscience.
The new video follows the release of “Wild Dogs Unchained”, a record that redefines the band’s legacy with renewed fire and uncompromising energy. Fans can stream or order the album HERE.

The song, written by drummer Carl Canedy, is a fierce anthem about freedom and refusing to be tamed. “This song is about fighting to be free. It pertains to all people. Fight for your freedom,” says guitarist/vocalist David “Rock” Feinstein, echoing the spirit of the track.
The video release marks another highlight in the band’s celebrated career, as “Wild Dogs Unchained” pushes their sound to new heights, re-imagining classics and delivering fresh anthems with more power and soul than ever before.

On “Wild Dogs Unchained”, THE RODS continue their celebrated sonic assault, blending re-imagined classics like “Hurricane” and “Wild Dogs Unchained” with powerful new anthems including “Eyes Of A Dreamer,”“Tears For The Innocent” and “World On Fire.” The result is the band’s most ambitious and definitive release to date: harder, heavier, and more soulful than ever before.
On “Wild Dogs Unchained,” the playing is harder, the grooving is heavier, and the singing more soulful than ever before. David “Rock” Feinstein (guitar/vocals), Freddy Villano (bass), and Carl Canedy (drums) have crafted a definitive Rods album aimed at pleasing die-hard fans and new audiences alike.
Once again mixed and mastered by Chris Collier, “Wild Dogs Unchained” flexes considerable musical muscle and builds upon the ironclad sonic template that these three musicians have forged over recent years. Not content to rest on their laurels or their legacy, THE RODS are getting tighter, more nuanced, and perhaps even more bludgeoning with age.

THE RODS are a storied heavy metal band that rocked their way through the ‘80s with a powerful, raw energy that had fans and critics alike calling them “The American Motörhead”. Once the go-to opening act for some of the biggest metal bands in the world, THE RODS toured throughout the ‘80s with the likes of Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, and Iron Maiden, among others. Along with contemporaries like Anvil and Raven, THE RODS are an integral part of what is commonly recognized today as Heavy Metal’s “golden age,” and emerged during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Heavy, dark, deep, insightful, and maybe even a bit more inciteful than ever before: “Rattle The Cage” is THE RODS at their incendiary best! Lyrically, they’ve taken a cue from David “Rock” Feinstein’s cousin, Ronnie James Dio, providing the listener with a similar sense of hope and resiliency in the face of an ever-changing world. Musically, the band is tighter than ever! Founding members David “Rock” Feinstein and Carl Canedy are joined by new bassist Freddy Villano (Quiet Riot, Widowmaker), and the results are simply sublime: The songs are rhythmically tighter, yet more musically unbound, the grooves heavier, and the melodies more dynamic.

Following previously-released, first songs such as “Shockwave” and the thunderous album title track, today, THE RODS are premiering a music video for their new single “Play It Loud”! Guitarist and singer David “Rock” Feinstein reveals:“This is a song from my catalog. For all the years that I have performed, playing loud was always there. Of course growing up with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Who, and all the bands of that era, they were all loud. Rock ‘n’ Roll is supposed to be loud. If I had a dollar for every time I was told to “turn down”, I would be a multi millionaire, ha! The lyrics tell it all. It’s just something you do that makes you feel good. I guess that’s what it’s all about.”

After THE RODS have shared a first appetizer, the album title track, today they are premiering a music video for their new single “Shockwave“! Says David “Rock” Feinstein:“This again, like “Rattle The Cage”, was a title that Carl had sent me with some lyric ideas, and came to completion the same way as “Rattle The Cage”. It’s basically just a rock song that interprets how you feel, as the artist playing it, or a fan listening. It’s reminiscent of a Motörhead song, as an all out balls to the wall rock ‘n’ roll song. Basic, and to the point. There have been times when THE RODS have been referred to as the “American Motörhead”, so in this song that’s what it feels like. Fast, Loud, and always proud.
