Weverin was started in 2004, by Buer (Gorlock, Biochaos) and the Harp (Phthisis). Later after a long search, Lord Sxuperion (Valdur, Endless Blizzard) was added on drums.
Weverin plays a form of blackened death metal and has released three Lp’s and two Ep’s. In 2011 Weverin will release its fourth Lp entitled, “The Skeletons of Fallen Angels” which was recorded at Backrooms Studio.
I have not really listened to a lot of Death Metal but as soon as I put this on I went wow this is good. From the first song As Spiders Drink From My Lip which starts with some spoken words then comes in a slow riff with a bit of sustain then some more spoken words. Then comes the growling vocals that go really well with the guitars with the drums pounding the rhythm near the end of the song came some good clean vocals i found my feet tapping and my head nodding a good start to the album. Between The Raped And Sleeping starts with some quiet words then the pounding drums smashing out the rhythm with a little riff before the growling vocals bite your head off. In the middle there is some great guitar work with the riffs and the solo’s at the speed these guys play they hit everything perfectly. Of Nails And Spit starts off as the other finished brutal guitar riffs pounding drums and hard hitting vocals then in the middle it goes slow and quite mellow then the harsh vocals come in with a little clean riff later on. The title track of the album The Skeletons Of Fallen Angels starts with the drums pounding out the beat with the guitars alongside again its full of hard vocals smashing drums shredding guitars. Then it slows down in the middle for a very short time then back into the aggressive nature of the album. Liquid Suffering starts off with an aggressive drum beat then into the harsh vocals come in together with the guitars make it a very explosive track. Gears Of Exile starts with which sounds like thunder in the background with clean guitars playing a good riff then it powers into the main riff with brutal vocals and pounding drums. Near the end the rain falls and its back to the clean guitar sound before going back into the pounding riffs. Hanging Worship Disease starts with shredding guitar riffs and the aggressive drum beat then the harsh growling vocals come in. In this song I hear remnants of a bit of Slipknot in some of the riffs but then it goes brutal once more. The last song the album Praise Murder starts off in the aggressive manner as most of the album with the shredding guitars harsh growling vocals and the pounding drums power through the song Halfway through it again slows down with a clean guitar riff which I think goes really well. But then it powers back into the aggressiveness nature that’s bodes well in the whole album.
Overall
This is a brutal album no matter what anyone says these guys really know how to play and they do it well Black Metal is something I don’t normally listen to but I got told by a friend that I must give it this band a go. I did and thought it was really brutal, aggressive and totally full on power the vocals was harsh sometimes even violent in nature but it went with the power of the band and with the pounding drums this guys could make it a long way. So if you’re a promoter or manager and you are into this genre pay them a visit I am sure that you will be pleased with what you get.
