VULTURE INDUSTRIES: Behind The Scenes Documentary Streaming, First U.S. Appearance Confirmed

According to Patricia Thomas Management, The recent collaboration between Norwegian Avant-garde metallers VULTURE INDUSTRIES and the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY which resulted in the theatrical performance “Turning Golem”, has proved to be a considerable crowd-pleaser, so much so, in fact, that the show has been booking into various venues and festivals both this year and next.  Interest in the show, which is part rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal which features VULTURE INDUSTRIES performing music from their latest release “The Tower”, and part theatre performance which features the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY, has grown, and as a result journalist Andrea Chirulescu has produced a “behind the scenes” documentary which explores the  ideas and concepts behind “Turning Golem”.

Featuring interviews with VULTURE INDUSTRIES frontman Bjornar E. Nilsen, who explains how the whole idea came about and how it developed, as well as with the other members of the band – guitarists Oyvind Madsen and Eyvind Huse, bassist Kyrre Teigen and drummer Tor Helge Gjengedal, who talk about the difference between performing as a band as opposed to being part of a performance ensemble, whilst members of the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY explain their part in the project.  The documentary, which is in English, was filmed in Bergen when “Turning Golem” was recently performed at the Garage, and is currently streaming on the YouTube Channel of the Norwegian webzine Eternal Terror.  It can be seen below:

2013 has been a busy year for VULTURE INDUSTRIES who released  their third full-length album, “The Tower”, on Season of Mist in September.   As well as collaborating with the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY, the band also worked closely with Romanian multi-media artist COSTIN CHIOREANU, whose video “Lost Among Liars”, a track from “The Tower”, recently featured at this year’s Kort and Kortkino Film Festival, Sandnes, Norway.  The video can be seen here:

Next year will also mark the first appearance of VULTURE INDUSTRIES in North America, with the band set to play at the prestigious Music, Film and Interactive Festival, South by Southwest, better known as the SXSW Festival, in Austin, Texas in March.  Other confirmed appearances by VULTURE INDUSTRIES in 2014 include The Headway Festival in Amstelveen, Netherlands, on the 11th January, Prog Power Europe, in Baarlo, Netherlands on the 4th October, and performances of “Turning Golem” at the Boule Noire in Paris, France, on the 21st February and at Metal Days in Tolmin, Slovenia, in July.  More information about VULTURE INDUSTRIES can be found on the band’s website at http://www.vulture-industries.net

VULTURE INDUSTIES Reveal Track Listing And Artwork And Debut Track From Upcoming Album

Artwork for “The Tower” was designed by renowned artist Costin Chioreanu, who had this to say: “Working on the cover of the new VULTURE INDUSTRIES was more than an interesting experience. The stars aligned and suddenly I discovered the opportunity to create the kind of imagery I had been dreaming about for years. “The Tower” is a very complex, smart and sadly true story to which I could relate, so this great project ended up with more illustrations than originally intended. The theme was so complex and so well put into words and music that I simply could not resist it. Yes, there is a huge influence coming from the German expressionism, but expanded through my own ways of visual expression and improved with some elements specific to the visual and philosophical analysis of society. There is surrealism, expressionism, contemporary imagery, and even some ancient graphic visual inputs. All in all, “The Tower” is an extremely well done observation of the reality that surrounds us as well as being a beautiful piece of art and I am extremely happy that I had the honor to illustrate it”.

As previously announced, VULTURE INDUSTRIES are due to hit the road in September for a series of European dates guesting with LEPROUS on the first leg of their European Coal Tour. Starting in the band’s home country on September 13th, the tour routing is as follows:
