Frontman from Finnish thrash/sleeze metallers TORNADO, Superstar-Joey Severance, has checked in from the studio with an update from the third day of recording new album “Black President”:

Tuomas celebrating the end of his rhythm guitar tracking!
We have had another long session here today. Henri finished the last two of his bass tracks this morning and Timo followed by completing all his rhythm tracks and is now working on leads. It’s a little after 2 in the morning and most of us have been awake since 9:30 for the 10AM starting time. No rest for the wicked they say and wicked would be one way to describe the sounds that are blasting out of the speakers at any given moment!

Henri laying down some thunderous bass in the middle of the night! The bass sound on this album is HUGE! \m/
By tomorrow we should have a posse coming in to contribute to backing vocals and then I can start doing lead vocals hopefully in the night. This time around I had the benefit of doing pre-production work on all the songs which should give me a better idea of what I will be doing. For the debut album, “Amsterdamn, Hellsinki” I recorded almost all of the vocals in one day (Including double tracking), something I surely won’t be repeating this time around.
Our time here at Studio 33 is almost over for the basic recording in which we will take some time off to rest our ears before coming back for the final mix. From where I sit right now the songs sound huge and bombastic. Something which I hope carries over when all is said and done. Speed? Check! Sleeze? Check! Shredding? Check! Yup…..all the ingredients that make Tornado what it is are there.
