TRAUMA And CHEMICAL BURN To Play American Warrior Festival On September 24th

US Thrash Heavy Metal Legends TRAUMA and Californian Heavy Rockin Groove Metallers CHEMICAL BURN are confirmed to play American Warrior Festival, set to take place on Sempteber 24th, at Malone’s Concert Venue in Santa Ana (CA). The Festival is supporting the “Warrior Foundation Freedom Station” Vet organization from San Diego.

TRAUMA was formed in 1980, having in their original line-up the iconic Cliff Burton on bass guitar, before joining Metallica in 1982. The band quickly became well known throughout California, playing at all the legendary venues, and their first ever recorded track “Such a Shame” was included on Metal Blade Records, Metal Massacre II album in 1982. Their “Scratch and Scream” (1984) album has long been considered a classic Heavy Metal collector’s item. Shrapnel Records re-mastered and re-released the album in October 2013, and TRAUMA reformed with a new line-up for the album re-release. In July 2014 TRAUMA played at the Headbangers Open Air Festival, furthermore the same year TRAUMA signed a world-wide contract with Pure Steel Records. Their latest effort “Rapture and Wrath” was released on February 27, 2015. The band released a video of one of the new songs, “When I Die”, in February 2015. TRAUMA is currently writing material for a new album and is in the process of securing live touring dates. Check out “When I Die” here:

Legendary Bay Area Metal Band TRAUMA announced this week that guitarist Jeff Jones (founding member of the metal rock act “ST. ELMO’S FIRE”) as the new replacement for axe wielding guitar player Kurt Fry. The departure of the thrash metallier was due to the guitarist wanting to peruse other musical interest.

TRAUMA is known to quite a few Heavy Metal-enthusiasts out there for their contribution to the “Metal Massacre”-sampler and the release of their 1984 debut album “Scratch And Scream”  which was remastered and re-released last year with Shrapnel Records. Now, after three decades, the band from California have decided to give it another go with their latest release “Rapture And Wrath”  to include a SOLD OUT limited edition of 200 black copies with printed insert on vinyl through Pure Steel Records. “TRAUMA has returned to deliver more face-melting Heavy Metal unto the hungry masses and having Jeff Jones onboard is going help us by adding some new dimensions to our sound and overall vibe” says drummer and co-founder Kris Gustofson. In addition, Kris goes on to say that he and Jeff have been friends for many many years and laments that “recent rehearsals have been sounding awesome!!!! So, with that being said, he is our new guy in the band as of this week. He is an awesome guitarist and songwriter too”…

On the band’s New Album, It’s all there: The powerful and charismatic high-pitched vocals of Donny Hillier, which can be described as a cross between Geoff Tate and Bruce Dickinson, the hard rockin’ guitars and many exciting melodic passages. According to Guitarz Forever Promotions, Radio personality James Vincent of Medication Time conducted an interview with Vocalist Donny Hillier of the newly reformed metal band TRAUMA and they talked about Trauma’s highly sought after and now recently reissued album  “Scratch and Scream” (now on CD and digital download) featuring CLIFF BURTON from his Pre-METALLICA days and the band’s new forthcoming studio endeavor…

TRAUMA was founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1980 as one of the first of the New Wave Of Bay Area metal bands. The group’s original lineup included Michael Overton on guitar, George Lady on guitar, Dennis Shafer on drums, Cliff Burton (METALLICA) on bass, and Donny Hillier on vocals.

TRAUMA quickly became well known throughout the California Bay Area and beyond, playing legendary venues like The Stone, Bill Graham’s Wolfgang’s, Whisky A Go Go, and The Troubadour. The first track TRAUMA ever recorded, “Such a Shame”, was included on Metal Blade Records’ “Metal Massacre II” compilation in 1982.

After Burton’s departure to join METALLICA, the band changed personnel and musicians Kris Gustofson (drums), Ross Alexander Merson (guitar) and Lucas Advincula (bass) joined Michael Overton and Donny Hillier in their new lineup. In 1984, TRAUMA recorded the “Scratch And Scream” album for Shrapnel Records. The LP received many excellent reviews from primarily American and European heavy metal magazines such as Kerrang!, Circus and Metal Forces, to name a few.

The “Scratch And Scream” album, unavailable before on a legitimate CD issue, has long been considered a hard-to-obtain, classic heavy metal record.

Now on iTunes, Amazon.com, and Shrapnel Records.com, “Scratch And Scream” reissue was remastered from the original master tapes and includes bonus tracks that feature the gone-but-never-forgotten bassist.  Earlier this year, the album received a retro recommendation by About.com/Metal.

After a lengthy hiatus, TRAUMA recently reformed. Donny Hillier, Kris Gustofson and Lucas Advincula have been joined by guitarist Kurt Fry, a veteran songwriter and recording/touring artist.

TRAUMA has played recent shows in San Francisco and Oakland and is planning to tour.

The band is currently in the studio, putting the finishing touches on its new album. The sound is unmistakably hard and heavy.
