Guitarist and singer-songwriter, Troy Redfern, dubbed as Britain’s “King of Slide Guitar,” has been confirmed as DARE’s special guest on their 12-date October 2022 UK Tour. Tickets are available from www.thegigcartel.com and www.seetickets.com. See the tour dates below, in the poster.
The news follows Troy’s support slot on When Rivers Meet’s April and May UK tour and precedes his highly anticipated new studio album slated for release in Autumn 2022.
Hailed by Rock and Blues Muse as part of their “Best of British: 15 UK Blues Artists to Check Out Today,” they had this to say about Troy – “His performances are passionate and intense, and while his style certainly references its delta blues roots, his delivery pulls it into the 21st century through a swamp of distortion and contemporary rock n’ roll aesthetics.”
Over the past 12 months, Troy has toured the UK several times supporting the likes of Robert Jon & The Wreck, The Quireboys, and When Rivers Meet.
In August 2021 Troy released of his critically acclaimed album The Fire Cosmic featuring the singles Waiting For Your Love, Ghosts, Sanctify and Stone. The album is available from www.troyredfern.com/shop.
The album was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios in North Wales, the same studiowhere Queen recorded all their early albums Sheer Heart Attack (1974) and A Night At The Opera (1975) – the latter featuring the legendary single Bohemian Rhapsody.
“The way Troy Redfern plays the guitar with such a primal aspect, but such a skilful touch puts him in at least conversation with the greats.” – Maximum Volume Music
“Troy’s guitar playing is on another level, and slide guitar purists in the audience are drooling as he peels off one incredible lick after another.” – Devils Gate Music
“Redfern whipped the masses into a frenzy with his
Hendrix-esque fretwork and Slash-styled cool.” – Rush on Rock
“Troy’s husky blues vocals, paired with his swirly tremolo style, and whammy effects without the bar; shows you why he’s dubbed The King of Slide Guitar.” – Planet Mosh
“An undercurrent of dirty blues and driving riffs. Troy is straight into the slide from the
off, the notes filling the room like a shower of wedding confetti.” – Metal Planet Music

Guitarist and singer-songwriter, TROY REDFERN, dubbed as Britain’s “King of Slide Guitar,” who recently released his critically acclaimed album The Fire Cosmic, and known for his 1930’s Triolian and National vintage resonator guitars, has signed an endorsement deal with the world’s leading guitar strings manufacturer, Ernie Ball.
“When I first started playing guitar at age thirteen the very first set of strings I bought were Ernie Ball along with my first electric guitar,” says Troy.
“All of my guitar heroes were using them, the ‘who’s who’ of the world’s leading guitarists, and there’s a reason why. Ernie Ball strings are the best, most consistent, comfortable strings out there. They just feel like home to me, especially after using them for over thirty years. I’m totally honoured to now be endorsed by a company that I’ve loved for my whole guitar playing career.”
Written on a vintage National guitar, and accompanied with a wide open ¾ drum groove and whiskey drenched vocal, Troy describes his latest single Stone as “an Appalachian style roots rocker that builds into a stratospheric anthem, and features a slide guitar solo that stretches out across vast sonic horizons.”
Stone epitomises what Troy Redfern does best – honest heavy-weight blues and John Lee Hooker riffs on steroids. Watch the music video for the single HERE

Hailed as Britain’s King of Slide Guitar, Hereford-based singer songwriter, Troy Redfern and his three-piece band will support The Quireboys at all shows. Troy will perform songs from his new album “The Fire Cosmic” which features the single “Ghosts” that was playlisted on Planet Rock. “Troy Redfern’s new album is a blast from start to finish,” says Music News.com.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of “A Bit Of What You Fancy”, the Quireboys recently released a re-recorded version of their iconic debut album with their distinctive gypsy rock and roll sound. The album is available on CD, digital and limited-edition vinyl. The CD includes bonus live tracks. The album is available from www.offyerrocka.com/product-category/artists/the-quireboys.
“A Bit of What You Fancy is where it all began for the Quireboys,” says the band’s frontman Spike. “It was an incredible album that launched our career. However, the way we sound and play now doesn’t do it justice. Henceforth, it has been a pleasure updating it to our modern-day gypsy rock and roll sound. I’m sure everyone will enjoy this new version in all its glory, marking its 30th Anniversary.”
Guitarist and singer-songwriter, TROY REDFERN, dubbed as Britain’s “King of slide guitar,” releases Sanctify his new single and music video on Friday August 6th; the same day as has his new album The Fire Cosmic.
Watch the psychedelic video, directed by Charlie Smith of Mind Art Visual HERE.
Sanctify is the third single taken from The Fire Cosmic. It follows hot on the heels of his previous single Ghosts which was playlisted on Planet Rock with spot plays on many other radio stations.
Written on a beat up 1929 National Triolian Resonator, Sanctify is described by Troy as a “heavy blues-billy boogie stomp.”
Sanctify epitomises everything that Troy Redfern does best – honest heavy-weight blues – John Lee Hooker riffs on steroids, thunderous bass by Dave Marks and the ‘foot to the floor’ drums of Darby Todd.
Sanctify is available to stream and download HERE. Order the The Fire Cosmic album HERE.
The new album, The Fire Cosmic, follows five unprecedented albums that Troy released in 2020. It was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios in North Wales, the same studio where Queen recorded all their early albums including Sheer Heart Attack (1974) followed by A Night At The Opera (1975).
For the new album, Troy enlisted one of the best rhythm sections in the UK, including the legendary Darby Todd on drums (The Darkness, Paul Gilbert), and bass guitarist Dave Marks (Hans Zimmer). Guitarist Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (Guns ‘N Roses, Asia, Sons of Apollo), plays guitar on the song On Fire.
Troy describes the contributors on the album as “the ultimate dream team” on what is arguably the British guitarist’s most distinctive and powerful release to date.
“I chose Rockfield Studios because so much of the music I grew up listening to was recorded at this legendary studio (Queen, Black Sabbath),” says Troy. “The studio has a timeless reputation for all the iconic, classic albums that have been produced there.”
“It was important for me to capture the raw energy of three guys playing live in the same place, at the same time. That’s something that you just can’t get if you’re sending files from different locations, it doesn’t have the same vibe or feel if you do it that way.”
As soon as we arrived at Rockfield, everyone, including Darby and Dave who’ve recorded all over the world, were excited to be there,” continues Troy. “It’s that kind of place. It has that effect on every musician who records there. Even before we started recording, the energy and vibe was there, which definitely set the tone for the entire album.”
Troy cut his teeth and refined his style over the last few years, playing festival main stages and blazing a trail across Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. He’s also become a well-known draw on the UK Blues Rock festival circuit, playing alongside rock luminaries including Robert Plant.
The forthcoming studio album is a culmination everything Troy has learnt so far on his musical journey, and, more importantly, brings into sharp focus a much tighter song-writing and more visceral, muscular production style.
For production duties, Troy enlisted the Brighton- based producer Paul ‘Win’ Winstanley, best known for his epic rock production style, and whom Troy met and had worked with previously on the 2019 RHR album, Hotel Toledo. Troy and Win bonded immediately, and shared the same musical aesthetic, no nonsense work ethic and dry sense of humour.
Rockfield’s vintage mics, mixing desk, and analogue outboard gear gave Win options to capture the dynamic performances on the album. “It was like being a kid in a candy store,” says Win.
“It was important for the album to sound massive,” says Troy. “It was a much bigger sound than anything that I’ve released before. As soon as we heard the first takes in the control, we were blown away. We knew that we captured something special. It sounded fantastic.”

Slide guitarist and singer-songwriter, TROY REDFERN, dubbed as Britain’s “King of Slide Guitar”, releases the official music video for his haunting new single Ghosts. Watch the breath-taking cinematic video HERE.
Ghosts is the second single taken from his forthcoming album The Fire Cosmic released by RED7 Records on Friday August 6th. The song is playlisted on Planet Rock and any other radio stations including The Max, MMH Radio, ERB Radio, HRH Radio, and many more.
Written on a beat up 1929 National Triolian Resonator, the new single Ghosts from the forthcoming album The Fire Cosmic follows a character that first appeared in the song The Line from Troy’s previous album Dirt Blues Ritual.
Ghosts is available to stream HERE. Pre-order the The Fire Cosmic album HERE.
Troy states, “To me this song is part two to an old song of mine called The Line. It’s the same woman in the narrative of that song. She’s escaped from a destructive, violent relationship, and is riding into the sunset, never once looking back.”
One word that keeps coming up when people describe Troy’s music and guitar playing is “authentic”, and with Ghosts this couldn’t be more apparent. From the layers of weaving acoustic resonator guitars to the blistering slide guitar solo, Ghosts takes you on a musical journey deep into the Wild West.
This brand-new video for Ghosts captures the essence of the songs vintage, Appalachian feel. Filmed at a rustic cabin on the banks of the River Wye in Hereford, Troy’s performance encapsulates the sense of urgency and the striving for resolution that can be heard echoing throughout his big sky cinematic soundscape.
