Italian thrash metallers ULTRA-VIOLENCE have announced their new drummer, Federico Leone. Read below.
“We’re very happy to announce that Federico Leone is now a member of Ultra-Violence. You probably already know him for his role in his other band The Modern Age Slavery, or because he’s been grinding in the metal scene for years and he toured with several bands all over Europe. He is a phenomenal drummer, a very focused and determined person and a friend. We’re thrilled to have him on board!
You can watch him play our song “Stigmatized Reality” in the video below.”
Here’s a few words from Federico about joining the band:
“I got to know Ultra-Violence in the summer of 2018 when Loris Castiglia called me in order to ask me to substitute Francesco “Frullo” La Rosa for a gig in France. I immediately fell in love with their music and I learnt the whole setlist in the blink of an eye. The gig went very good, we all had fun together and in September of the same year I did another concert as a session drummer. Since then, I always followed their growth in the underground music and I always thought they deserved it all and even more. From today on, I can say I am part of this project and I couldn’t be happier to give my contribution to this great band! Taking Frullo’s seat won’t be easy at all as he is a great drummer, and that’s why I’ll surely give 110% both on stage and in the writing process! I’ll see you in the pit headbanging with us!”
Italian thrash metallers ULTRA-VIOLENCE have issued, via their Official Facebook Page, as follows:
ULTRA-VIOLENCE’s vocals/guitars Loris Castiglia:
“Playing with Frullo has been an honor since the first show with him back in March 2016, exactly 4 years ago. He started by being a session drummer for us and he joined the band as a permanent member the year after. I always thought that he raised the level of musicianship of the band as soon as he got in and we all suddently felt the need to practice and get better in order to match his potential. In addition to that we learned a lot from him about touring and being professional musicians. All this led us to be the band we are today, which I’m extremely proud of, and Frullo deserves a lot of credit for that. We had the best times together and most importantly we’ve always been friends and true to each other. Which is the most important thing between band members. We played the best shows of our lives in Japan, Spain and Czech Republic, we toured Europe and we recorded our best album “Operation Misdirection”. We always managed to make the best out of every situation, even the worst ones. And we had plenty of those, believe me. What amazes me the most is that we never had an argument during the time of this lineup, which is almost impossible when you are in the same van with the same people for weeks. And that goes out to all 4 of us for not being selfish and always caring about each other. But every thing, good or bad, has a beginning and an end. This lineup change needs to happen and all you need to know is that there’s not a single drop of bad blood between us and Frullo and that we’ll always be friends and cherish what we did together for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much Frullo, we wish you all the best! We’re gonna announce the new drummer in the next few days, stay tuned!”
Italian thrash metallers ULTRA-VIOLENCE are set to return on 27th July with their new album ‘Operation Misdirection’ through Candlelight Records. Described by lead vocalist Loris Castiglia as ‘the last chapter of a trilogy we started five years ago with our debut album’, this is their most mature set of songs to date.
Watch below “Cadaver Decomposition Island”, the first single/video from the album “Operation Misdirection.
First single “Cadaver Decomposition Island” boasts some of the fastest and most brutal ULTRA-VIOLENCE riffs to date yet also features some of the most melodic elements on the album. Lead singer and guitar player Loris Castiglia adds: “It’s my favorite track off the new album. It’s a song about the greatness of nature and the endless circle of life, death and rebirth. It’s also the last song we wrote for the record and it perfectly shows what Ultra-Violence is right now.”
Forming in 2009 in Turin, Italy, ULTRA-VIOLENCE spent a number of years sharpening their craft before releasing debut EP ‘Wildcrash’ in 2012, followed swiftly by debut album ‘Privilege To Overcome’ in 2013. Tours across Europe caught the attention of Candlelight Records and they went on to release their 2nd album ‘Deflect The Flow’ in 2015, a record which saw them take their brand of extreme thrash to the next level and opened them up to a whole new heavy metal fanbase worldwide.
With their latest record Loris comments, ‘we pushed our music beyond the boundaries of thrash metal and we added new elements to widen our sound. We really focused on the connection between the music and the lyrics, each song tells a different story and some of them mean a lot to us. I’m so proud about how the whole thing turned out and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
It was recorded, mixed and mastered by our longterm friend and producer Simone Mularoni at Domination Studio in San Marino. We can’t describe how much we love working with him and we honestly think that he really outdid himself on our new record.’
The cover art was once again put together by the one and only Ed Repka, creator of some of the most famous cover arts in the thrash metal history such as ’Rust In Peace’ by Megadeth.
Over the past few years ULTRA-VIOLENCE have played shows and festivals across the world supporting bands like Discharge, Angelus Apatrida, Tokyo Blade and Rotting Christ, leading to a number of shows in Japan with Skull Fist. They show no signs of stopping and will embark on a European tour to support the release of ‘Operation Misdirection’ starting with the following dates.
July 6th – Eresia Metalfest – Udine (IT)
July 8th – The Riveter – Nancy (FR)
July 9th – K19 – Kassel (DE) w/ Exodus
July 19th – Obscene Extreme Festival – Trutnov (CZ) w/ Napalm Death
Following a recent line-up change Ultra-Violence are: Loris Castiglia (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Andrea Vacchiotti (lead guitar), Andrea Lorenti (Bass), and Francesco “Frullo” La Rosa (drums).
