Under The Black Sun 2017 Confirms MONARQUE to Line-Up

Under The Black Sun Festival,  set to take place on June 29th – July 1st, is still busy to enlarge the billing for it’s anniversary edition in 2017. Recently CRYFEMAL, STREAMS OF BLOOD and HETROERTZEN were confirmed, now another underground hilight is ready: MONARQUE from Canada will enter the stage at the woods outside from Berlin next year.

The current billing for Under The Black Sun 2017 looks like this:

ANCIENT: For Touring Commitments With BRUJERIA, Drummer Nick Barker Replaced By Jonathan Garofoli at UTBS

Ancient-2015

Norwegian extreme metal titans ANCIENT will blast the mainstage of UTBS (Under The Black Sun Festival) in Börnicke – Germany, on Saturday July 2nd, at 21:20 – 22:20. For the touring commitments with BRUJERIA, the band’s drummer, Nick Barker, is forced to step out from the festival. ANCIENT has announced that he will be replaced by drummer Jonathan Garofoli, known from his performances with Melechesh, Naer Mataron and many others.

ANCIENT frontman Zel comments:
“We are very lucky to have found Jonathan to play with us, not many can dare to try filling in the shoes of Nick Barker, but this guy kick some serious ass!”.

Jonathan‘s comment on collaboration:
“Sometimes life is sweetly tricky, one day you’re listening to an album of a band you like and after years you’re playing with that band! Should sound kinda crazy but it’s not, actually is what happened to me right now since I got the proposal from Ancient to get the role to step behind the kit to play at UNDER THE BLACK SUN FESTIVAL 2016! To me its a true honor to have been recruited by such a respectful and historical ensemble like Ancient, I’m pretty sure our collaboration will create and establish some real musical magic!!!”

Biography:

Jonathan “A.D.D.” Garofoli, Extreme Metal drummer since the year  1996. Well known in the nowadays scene for his annihilating and creative approach to the instrument, leader of the Blackened Death metal Leviathans Azrath-11 and belligerent stormblasters behind the kit for the Hellenic Black Metal Warlords Naer Mataron.
He’s paved his career with 24 Official releases, toured multiple times Europe, an headline tour in South America in 2009 and in recent times reached the Middle Eastern lands. Jonathan in the last years established his status as prestigious session artist for many important acts like Melechesh and Ancient among the others, offered his skills for the  polish death metal masters Lost Soul releasing in late 2015 the worldwide multi acclaimed album “ Atlantis The New Beginning”.

ANCIENT – featuring Zel (aka Aphazel) on Vocals/guitars/keyboards, Dhilorz on Guitars/bass and Nick Barker on Drums, Ghiulz Borroni on session lead guitars – are set to release their new album  “Back To The Land Of The Dead”, the release date will be announced very soon.

ANCIENT Confirmed For Under The Black Sun Festival 2016

Norwegian extreme metal titans ANCIENT, who recently signed a global deal with ALPHA OMEGA Management, are confirmed for Under The Black Sun Festival, set to take place on June 30 – July 2, 2016.

ANCIENT comments:

“We’re very much looking forward to come to Under The Black Sun festival and unleash the Ancient spirit, we will include some old songs in the set that we have never performed live previously, so this should be a special night indeed!”

UNDER THE BLACK SUN 2014: Confirmed DEMONICAL, COUNTESS And VOIDHANGER, Two Cancellations

We are sorry that we have to announce that because of the car accident in November and the tragic aftermath BLAZE OF PERDITION and OREMUS have to cancel their shows.

But there are three new confirmations and therefore positive news as well!

COUNTESS:

The band from the Netherlands has been active since 1992 and so far released 13 albums. Deeply rooted in the early days of Heavy and Black Metal COUNTESS has understood to combine those influences and leave their own mark in the genre. In 2014 the scene cult band will release a new milestone in form of “Ancient Lies And Battle Cries”. COUNTESS will play their first show since the nineties at UNDER THE BLACK SUN 2014!

DEMONICAL:

Those who don’t know DEMONICAL yet have definitely missed something. The Swedes are one of the few Death Metal Bands founded in the 21st century who understand how to transfer the old spirit into a modern sound. At last the quartet has decapitated dozens of heads with „Darkness Unbound“! Calling DEMONICAL an excellent live band is nothing special, but it certainly isn’t a hyperbole either. You’ll get the proof in the summer of 2014!

VOIDHANGER:

The Polish band is confirmed as replacement for BLAZE OF PERDITION. But calling them a compromise would be misplaced. In fact their current album “Working Class Misanthropy” is one of the best secret tips in 2013. If you haven’t listened to it yet, you should give it a try immediately! VOIDHANGER are more than a makeshift solution and of course they will kick your asses in 2014!

Three new bands are confirmed for next year’s UNDER THE BLACK SUN. Read more about them below.

INQUISITION
There aren’t many words needed to introduce the infernal duo. Dagon and Incubus once again drew upon their status in the Black Metal scene with their sixth full-length album “Obscure Verses for the Multiverse”. And the band’s excellent live-shows aren’t a secret either. We are really happy to announce that INQUISITION will visit the UNDER THE BLACK SUN 2014!

SO MUCH FOR NOTHING
SO MUCH FOR NOTHING released their first sign of life in form of the split-EP with ANGST SKVADRON “III (Instruments) / Sublife Warranty”  in 2011. The impressive mixture of Black Metal, Depressive Rock and Psychedelic, which the duo Erik Unsgaard (SARKOM) and Uruz (URGEHAL, and others) plays, achieved the attention of an exquisite listenership. SO MUCH FOR NOTHING have further outlined their qualities on the debut album “Livsgnist” in 2012. We are really glad to welcome the two Norwegians at the UNDER THE BLACK SUN 2014. Don’t miss them!

EREBUS ENTHRONED
The Australian have to face a long journey but it shall be worth it. The band from Sydney has left their first marks in the scene in 2011 with their first full-length album “Night’s Black Angel”. On the menu: Traditional Black Metal at its best! Next week the band will release new material via Pagan Records in form of the 10″ MLP “Accession of Fire” together with BLAZE OF PERDITION. EREBUS ENTHRONED will play their first show in Germany ever at UNDER THE BLACK SUN 2014.
