LOST EFFECT And SATANIC MALFUCTIONS Return To VALKYRIAN FESTIVAL 2014

Following what has been a hectic year so far for Valkyrian Festival, organiser Nico Solheim-Davidson has proudly announced two more additions to this year’s line-up. The first comes in the form of Scarborough-based hardcore outfit SATANIC MALFUCTIONS who will be joining Psydoll, Bharghest, Apparition and Nexus One on Friday 21st November. Adhering to the hardcore punk ethics of old, this quartet were well received at last year’s Valkyrian Festival and will no doubt go down a treat again this year.

The second recent addition to be announced are York’s premier melodic metal unit LOST EFFECT, who have been described as “a  band who supply both beauty and brutality” by DJ Beerman. Their growls and the operatics combine to abuse and caress your ears and are a special treat for fans of bands such as Epica, Delain and Evanescence. Lost Effect will be joining the likes of Wretched Soul, Reign Of Fury, Aonia and Scandelion on Sunday 23rd November.

Valkyrian Festival 2014 will take place at The Londesborough on Albert Street and West Street in Bridlington on 21st, 22nd and 23rd November. Weekend tickets are available for £15 from http://vmevents.bigcartel.com. Days tickets are also available. The event is all-ages but under 14s must be accompanied by an adult.

CNOC AN TURSA Cancel VALK-FEST Appearance, Replaced By PSYDOLL As Headliner

Scottish black metal royalty CNOC AN TURSA has been forced to cancel their appearance at this year’s Valkyrian Festival in Bridlington due to medical reasons. Japanese cyber-punks PSYDOLL will now take their place as the Friday night headliner, being supported by the likes of Apparition, Bharghest and Nexus One.

Weekend tickets are still available for £15 HERE  along side day tickets. The Valkyrian Festival will take place at The Londesborough in Bridlington, following a venue change earlier this year, on 21st, 22nd and 23rd November.

Final Valk-Fest 2014 Warm-Up Show “The Ride To Helheim”, Line-Up Confirmed

Over the last few months, a series of Valkyrian Festival warm-up shows have been taking place in Bridlington, treating fans to samples of styles of music that will be featured at this year’s Valkyrian Festival. The line-up for the final warm-up show: The Ride To Helheim, has been announced.

The extreme metal show will be headlined by Yorkshire doom prophets The Prophecy who have toured with the likes of My Dying Bride. The support acts are death metallers Teras, Yorkshire black metal coven Sathamel, York’s death metal warriors Terra Omnia – as seen at Valk-Fest 2013, as well as Forneus – as seen at Warhorns 2014 – and Lacrota.

Tickets for this show are £5 and are available from http://vmevents.bigcartel.com. The show will take place on Saturday 15th November at The Londesborough in Bridlington, less than a week before Valkyrian Festival 2014.

Valkyrian Festival, which is in aid of Rape Crisis, has another three brilliant bands to this year’s bill. This year’s Valkyrian Festival already boasts a number of talented bands from both the UK and Europe, including Scottish black metal royalty Cnoc An Tursa, as well as Scarborough-based instrumental progressive death outfit Bharghest, as well as the more symphonic sounding Aonia, Azylya and Divided We Fall alongside the thrashtastic Reign of Fury and Dutch powerhouse Ex Libris, who boast Xandria’s new vocalist Dianne Van Giersbergen amongst their ranks.

Added to the final day of the festival are Spanish gothic metallers Tears Of Martyr. Having started as a doom metal band, the band’s sound soon developed in something darker featuring a lot of the key elements found in their music now. Tears Of Martyr have in the past opened for the likes of Epica, Draconian and Dark Tranquillity. Their next album, Tales, is set for release on 26th April 2014 through Massacre Records.

Announced alongside Tears Of Martyr are the festival’s special guests for this year Kent-based rabid thrash/death metallers Wretched Soul. Hailed as “a rising star in the underground thrash metal scene” by Musicosis, the quartet are a fine addition to the festival. The band comment:

Wretched Soul are very excited to be performing at Valkyrian Festival 2014 and to once again be sharing a festival stage with our good friends, Reign of Fury, alongside Bharghest and so many other great bands. Good cause, great crowd. It’s cool to be playing Bridlington again as well, which is one of the most metal towns we’ve played so far! See you there!

Valkyrian Festival 2014 Announces Six New Bands To Lineup

Valkyrian Festival, which is in aid of Rape Crisis, has added six new bands to this year’s line-up from the UK and Europe. This year’s Valkyrian Festival already boasts a number of talented bands from both the UK and Europe, include Cnoc An Tursa, Bharghest, Aonia, Azylya, Divided We Fall, Reign of Fury and Ex Libris, who boast Xandria’s new vocalist Dianne Van Giersbergen amongst their ranks.

Joining headliners Cnoc An Tursa on Friday 21st as the opening act are Hull-based bluesy rock and rollers Crooked Lizard, who combine thoughtful lyrics with an irresistible groove to create a unique and memorable sound. The band comments:

We are very excited to be playing this year’s Valk-Fest, and we’re very much looking forward to making new friends. So come over, say hi and have a beer!

Joining the likes of Belgian symphonic metallers Azylya, alternative artist Sakara and London black metal coven Mørktår on Saturday 22nd November are Hull sleazy thrash boys Clunger Hammer and Bridlington’s own NWOBHM heroes Badge, as well as Hungarian symphonic metallers Sorronia who recently toured Europe with former Nightwish vocalist Tarja Turunen and joined Xandria last year for four shows in Spain. This will be Sorronia’s first ever UK festival appearance and will be part of their first UK tour.

Added to the bill on Sunday 23rd November are Synchronix, the new band formed by Aonia guitarist Przemek Druzkowski – better known as Slick – and Scarborough girly-fronted metallers Avalon who have made an impact on the local scene and recently supported the likes of Sworn Amongst and Hell City with special guest Blaze Bayley. Both bands will be joining the likes of Ex Libris, Aonia and Exile The Traitor.

In related news, Pantheon have withdrawn from this year’s Valkyrian Festival due to unforeseen circumstances.

New Bands Confirmed For Valkyrian Festival 2014

Valkyrian Festival has announced the new bands confirmed for the next edition:

Suavely dressed Yorkshire folk metal septet NORTHERN OAK have been announced to support Belgian symphonic metallers AZYLYA at this year’s Valkyrian Festival, which will take place from 21st November to 23rd November, while the gothic metal opera septet AONIA have been announced to support Dutch progressive metallers EX LIBRIS the following night at this year’s Valkyrian Festival.

Joining Northern Oak to support Azylya are Midlandic female-fronted thrash sextet CHEMIKILL who will be gracing Valkyrian Festival with their old school metal sound while joining Aonia to support Ex Libris will be Glaswegian death metal thugs EXILE THE TRAITOR.

Two local acts, in the form of instrumental death metal trio BHARGHEST and classic rockers ALICE IN THUNDERLAND, have also been announced for Valkyrian Festival. Bharghest will be sharing the stage with Scottish black metal royalty CNOC AN TURSA on the first night where as Alice In Thunderland will be joining Aonia and Exile The Traitor as support to Ex Libris on the final night of Valkyrian Festival 2014.

Valkyrian Festival will take place at Basement in Bridlington from Friday 21st November to Sunday 23rd November. The event is all-ages but valid ID will be required for the bar. It will also be the first edition of the Valkyrian Festival to feature a European headliner. Tickets are available for £15 from this location.
