SLEGEST, the band formed by former VREID guitarist Ese in 2010, is set to play a series of dates in in their home country in November, three of which will be supporting fellow Norwegians EINHERJER, whilst a fourth will see them joining VULTURE INDUSTRIES and INCULTER in Haugesund. Routing as follows:
SLEGEST’s debut full-length album “Løyndom” was released on DARK ESSENCE records at the end of last year and Ese’s skilful blending of classic heavy rock and old-school Black Metal won the band much praise from fans and press alike. So much so, in fact, that what initially started out as a solo project, quickly developed into a fully fledged live band, with Ese, on vocals and rhythm guitar, being joined by Sør (BÄÄÄV, VONBRÅTEN) on Lead Guitars, Hövard (BOMBEKLÜCHTER) on Bass and Fjøsne on Drums. A tour with label-mates TAAKE and AETERNUS followed, as well as a series of festival appearances throughout the summer.
Having just returned from a European tour, Norwegian Avant-Gardists VULTURE INDUSTRIES have announced various festival appearances throughout the summer, as well as a series of dates in their home country, which are set to take place during September and November. Joining VULTURE INDUSTRIES for the September shows will be DORDEDUH, whilst Dark Essence Records bands ALFAHANNE and SLEGEST will support on some of the dates. Formed 10 years ago and with three critically acclaimed full-length albums and a substantial experience in front of live audiences, VULTURE INDUSTRIES have gained a reputation as phenomenal crowd-pleasers thanks in part to their very obvious skills as musicians, and in part to the antics of charismatic frontman Bjørnar E. Nilsen. Nilsen is himself one of Norway’s leading record producers and joint owner of the Conclave and Earshot Studios in Bergen, along with ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen and Arve Isdal.
Not content with just limiting themselves to just performing as a band, VULTURE INDUSTRIES have been collaborating extensively with the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY to bring the “Turning Golem” project to life. Part concert rooted in in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal and part theatre performance “Turning Golem” has been thrilling audiences throughout Europe for the past couple of years, and will be performed for the last time at this year’s Metal Days Festival.

Nilsen. “VULTURE INDUSTRIES and BLUTMOND have been tasked with the sale of the special tickets through our own webshops, and anyone wanting a personalised ticket can order direct from us. With a career spanning 10 years and with over 100 shows under their belts, the live performances of Norwegian avant-gardists VULTURE INDUSTRIES are well known both for their technical skill and the eccentric and somewhat manic antics of frontman Bjørnar E. Nilsen, whose on-stage weirdness has garnered a multitude of fans for the band over the years. VULTURE INDUSTRIES released their third full-length album, “The Tower” on Season of Mist at the end of last year and have collaborated extensively the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY in the “Turning Golem” project which is part concert rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/ progressive metal and part theatre performance. After 15 years of musical dedication and innovation in NEGURA BUNGET, the founding members and principal song writers Hupogrammos and Sol Faur founded DORDEDUH in 2009. Following the path started with NEGURA BUNGET, DORDEDUH is taking the musical experience further by creating a fusion between a visionary approach of black metal, unusual traditional soundscapes and experimental progressive music. The musical vision is completed by a strong conceptual background that can be revealed by the band’s name itself that combines the word ‘Dor’, which means a yearning for something or a deeply felt the lack of something, together with the term for spirit ‘Duh’. Since its formation in 2004 BLUTMOND has never been a band that has been happy to limit itself to a formulaic nod in the direction of a particular genre. Starting out as a Black Metal band and releasing their first full length album “Endzeit” in 2006, BLUTMOND quickly developed a reputation for their insane and provocative live shows, which, whilst raising their profile throughout Europe, also led them to realise that the time had come to create something that was more emotional and honest. With Code666/ Aural Music picking up their sophomore full-length album, “Thirteen Urban Ways 4 Groovy Bohemian Days” appeared in 2010, followed at the end of 2012 by “The Revolution is Dead!”, once again on Code666. These two albums demonstrated that BLUTMOND was obviously forging ahead down a more avant-garde path, but one that definitely has a distinctive edge to it. According to Patricia Thomas Management, The recent collaboration between Norwegian Avant-garde metallers VULTURE INDUSTRIES and the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY which resulted in the theatrical performance “Turning Golem”, has proved to be a considerable crowd-pleaser, so much so, in fact, that the show has been booking into various venues and festivals both this year and next. Interest in the show, which is part rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal which features VULTURE INDUSTRIES performing music from their latest release “The Tower”, and part theatre performance which features the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY, has grown, and as a result journalist Andrea Chirulescu has produced a “behind the scenes” documentary which explores the ideas and concepts behind “Turning Golem”.
Featuring interviews with VULTURE INDUSTRIES frontman Bjornar E. Nilsen, who explains how the whole idea came about and how it developed, as well as with the other members of the band – guitarists Oyvind Madsen and Eyvind Huse, bassist Kyrre Teigen and drummer Tor Helge Gjengedal, who talk about the difference between performing as a band as opposed to being part of a performance ensemble, whilst members of the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY explain their part in the project. The documentary, which is in English, was filmed in Bergen when “Turning Golem” was recently performed at the Garage, and is currently streaming on the YouTube Channel of the Norwegian webzine Eternal Terror. It can be seen below:
2013 has been a busy year for VULTURE INDUSTRIES who released their third full-length album, “The Tower”, on Season of Mist in September. As well as collaborating with the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY, the band also worked closely with Romanian multi-media artist COSTIN CHIOREANU, whose video “Lost Among Liars”, a track from “The Tower”, recently featured at this year’s Kort and Kortkino Film Festival, Sandnes, Norway. The video can be seen here:
Next year will also mark the first appearance of VULTURE INDUSTRIES in North America, with the band set to play at the prestigious Music, Film and Interactive Festival, South by Southwest, better known as the SXSW Festival, in Austin, Texas in March. Other confirmed appearances by VULTURE INDUSTRIES in 2014 include The Headway Festival in Amstelveen, Netherlands, on the 11th January, Prog Power Europe, in Baarlo, Netherlands on the 4th October, and performances of “Turning Golem” at the Boule Noire in Paris, France, on the 21st February and at Metal Days in Tolmin, Slovenia, in July.
