The 23rd October 2010, in Helsinki, Amoral will conclude the promotional tour for their lastest album: Show Your Colors (released in 2009)
The tour started in Helsinki, when, during the Helsinki On The Rocks, Amoral performed under the name of “Gold Johnson Big Band”, the first live date with the new singer Ari Koivunen. Certainly the new voice gives the band a new style, so that their 4th album actually differs from the former ones, when the group was considered a rising star of Death/prog metal.
The new singer, Ari Koivunen, won the finnish edition of the talent show IDOL, in 2007, and after that success his album “Fuel for the fire” sold over 70000 pieces, and had prestigious collaborations with Janne Joutsenniemi (SubUrban Tribe, Stone), Jarkko Ahola (Teräsbetoni), Marco Hietala (Nightwish, Tarot), Timo Tolkki (Stratovarius) and Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), among others. Recording musicians were Tuomas Wäinölä (Kotipelto, Nylon Beat), Mikko Kosonen (Maija Vilkkumaa), Nino Laurenne (Thunderstone), Mirka Rantanen (Thunderstone), Mikko Kaakuriniemi (Kotipelto), Pasi Heikkilä (45 Degree Woman) and Janne Wirman (Children Of Bodom).
“Show Your Colors” contains 11 tracks and it’s certainly a well done album, the sounds are something in between death and melodic metal ground.
Particularly are appreciated the guitarists Silakka and Varon with their technical skills touching nearly the perfection. Ari Koivunen gives his best in “A shade of gray” and “Song for the stubborn” where he releases all the power and the extension of his voice.
Pretty much cool and enjoyable are the ballad “Last October” and the instrumental piece “Random word”, which underline the skill of the guitarists, even with the acoustic instruments.
Old fans will find hard to recognize Amoral, and maybe the band deserve to be listened without comparing them to their previous works, exploring the new sounds which result well composed and executed, wholly approved by the audience during the tour around all Europe.
Without doubts Amoral has changed their route respect to 3 previous albums (creations, 2004, decrowining, 2005, Reptile Ride, 2007). And now, as the tour is about to conclude, we can state this new line results to be lucky, as the band gained the appreciation and acclaim of their old and new fans.
The band reveals that after the gig of 23rd October, some new songs will be posted on bands official website, as an apetizer …
