Finland, Tampere based Thrash Sleezers TORNADO have released a cover for LOUDNESS classic “Dark Desire”, featuring AMORAL‘s Ari Koivunen. Stream it below.

“Ladies and Gentlemen! Tornado are very proud to present to you our cover of the Loudness classic “Dark Desire” This song was recorded during the sessions for our latest album “Black President” but because I was not satisfied with my vocal performance, we didn’t put it on the album. Musically speaking, the guys did a great job with the song and Minoru Niihara is a fantastic singer and there was no way I was going to tarnish his good name by being a scrub (not to mention, Akira Takasaki is my favorite guitarist of all time!) so I thought to myself, who is the best singer I know in Finland? Why Amoral’s Ari Koivunen of course! I got in touch with Ari to ask if he would be willing to do a “duet” with me on this and without hesitation he agreed! I then took the trip to Helsinki and went Amoral guitarist Ben Varon’s Imperial Cassette Recording Facilities where he Produced and Recorded the vocals for us. (For those who might not know, or remember, Ben played leads on the Tornado debut album “Amsterdam, Hellsinki”) We hope you enjoy this as much as we do, and if there are any Radio outlets out there interested in playing this, you can contact us directly and we will send you the WAV file! Finnish progmetal sextet AMORAL will release it’s 7th studio album in early 2016. ”In Sequence”, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed ”Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows” album will come out in Japan on January 29th through Ward Records, and the rest of the world follows on February 5th through Imperial Cassette (Gordeon Music, GSA / Nightmare Records, North America).

”We went into making the 7th album with an Yngwie Malmsteen state of mind: More is more! Once we got our original singer Niko Kalliojärvi back in the band – expanding the group into a six-headed monster, with two vocalists and three guitar players – it was time to start the writing process, which was one of the most inspiring ones for me so far”, guitarist and founder Ben Varon says. ”More guitar parts, more keyboards, more back and forth between clean and growling vocals.”

Another angle used to get a fresh touch for ”In Sequence” was the decision to invite a whole bunch of guest musicians to play on the album, which was a first for Amoral.

”The album is filled with stellar guest performances from many talented musicians, who added percussion, female vocals, analog syths and ouds to the songs, amongst other things. The guests definitely helped take the songs to the next level.”

The list of guest-starring musicians include percussionist Teho Majamäki, Indica singer Jonsu and Acyl singer/mastermind Amine Benotmane.

”To me, ‘In Sequence’ is the logical follow-up to ‘Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows’, on which we took our love for grandieuse prog to new hights. ‘In Sequence’ continues on that path, though the return of Niko gives the new material some of that old school Amoral vibe. And I think this one turned out a touch heavier as well, not least because of the real-life based concept of the album”, says Varon.

The first single, “Rude Awakening”, will be released on the 4th of December!

AMORAL: New Video “Blueprints” Premieres On Classic Rock Magazine

AMORAL – self-declared proponents of “classic rock for the 21st century” – premiere their video for new track Blueprints via Classic Rock Magazine. Check it out HERE or below.

It’s taken from the band’s sixth album Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows, which is released on Monday via Graphite Records.

Mainman Ben Varon says: “We could not believe our luck when we got the green light to film the video at the Helsinki City Hall – we knew that their ballroom was usually off limits. This beautiful location was the perfect place to shoot a video for an intimate, acoustic song like this. Also, my 12-string guitar sounded huge in that room, so I was well entertained between takes.”

The album’s lyrics deal with the concept of “that one big mistake that cannot be undone.” Varon explains: “People like the idea of second chances – but sometimes that’s simply not an option. There are points of no return, decisions you can never undo.

“You can read into the lyrics as a tale of a drug addict, a relationship gone horribly wrong, longing for days past, fear of getting old;  the latter two are probably the ones hitting closest to home for me.”

The fith LankaFest, organized by the city of Puolanka and Youth Work, will take place on July 11-12 2014, in Puolanka – Finland (on Stage of Pohjanportti at Marketplace). This year the Lankafest will be a two day festival instead of one and for the first time the bill sees also bands from abroad.

So far, the confirmed bands are:

Brother Firetribe, Amoral, Battle Beast, Waltari, Dreamtale, Tommy Vitaly (ITA), Zonaria (SWE), Scarlet Thread, Luna Tremensis, SoulHealer and Electric Deathbeat.

Area also holds one separate place for alcohol sales and you have to be at least 18 years old to enter. But there is no age limit for the actual event. You can also buy some Lankafest / Bands products, like shirts etc. from the area. Ticket: 20 euros.

Comments the Organizator:

The history of Lankafest starts in 2010 when the event was held in the gym of local elementary school with four local bands. It was an instant success! Event was held again in 2011 at the Keskipisteenpuisto with the power of eight bands. In 2012 Lankafest took place on the brand new stage of Pohjanportti. The lead performer was a legendary Zero Nine. In 2013 Lankafest took another step by selling over 400 tickets and the lead performer was once again one of the legendary finnish bands Peer Gunt. Like it or not:  Lankafest is here to stay!

AMORAL: New Single Out, Special Album Release Show Announced

Finnish AMORAL has issued the following on the band’s Official Website:

No Familiar Faces, the new single off the upcoming album Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows has been released today. You can stream it below.

Amoral will celebrate the release of the new album by playing a special show at Virgin Oil co in Helsinki on February 28th. The show – the band’s first in almost a year – will see the group take on the whole Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows album in sequence, followed by a set of songs from its decade-long career.

“We got the itch to try and play the whole new album through live pretty soon after completing it”, says guitarist Ben Varon.  “At least this one time. It’s quite a challenge, starting our first show in ages with an hour of all-new music, but it’s a challenge we welcome with open arms!”

Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows will be released on February 14th. You can pre-order the album (in it’s differerent formats and in different bundles) from Record Shop X as well as Backstage Rock Shop.

Amoral have revealed the cover artwork and tracklist of their new album “Fallen Leaves & Dead Sparrows”, set for release on February 14th. The album will be available on CD, double vinyl and digital download. Aki Siltala, the artist behind the covers of previous Amoral albums “Decrowning” and “Reptile Ride” is again responsible for the cover artwork.
