The fith LankaFest, organized by the city of Puolanka and Youth Work, will take place on July 11-12 2014, in Puolanka – Finland (on Stage of Pohjanportti at Marketplace). This year the Lankafest will be a two day festival instead of one and for the first time the bill sees also bands from abroad.

So far, the confirmed bands are:

Brother Firetribe, Amoral, Battle Beast, Waltari, Dreamtale, Tommy Vitaly (ITA), Zonaria (SWE), Scarlet Thread, Luna Tremensis, SoulHealer and Electric Deathbeat.

Area also holds one separate place for alcohol sales and you have to be at least 18 years old to enter. But there is no age limit for the actual event. You can also buy some Lankafest / Bands products, like shirts etc. from the area. Ticket: 20 euros.

Comments the Organizator:

The history of Lankafest starts in 2010 when the event was held in the gym of local elementary school with four local bands. It was an instant success! Event was held again in 2011 at the Keskipisteenpuisto with the power of eight bands. In 2012 Lankafest took place on the brand new stage of Pohjanportti. The lead performer was a legendary Zero Nine. In 2013 Lankafest took another step by selling over 400 tickets and the lead performer was once again one of the legendary finnish bands Peer Gunt. Like it or not:  Lankafest is here to stay!

ZONARIA On Tour With DISCOURAGED Bands As Support

Discouraged Records has issued Umeås hardest working band ZONARIA head out on a new tour in early april. The band who is current with their third and most acclaimed album “Arrival Of The Red Sun” released on French Listenable Records (Gojira, etc.) has previously toured with the bands as Dark Funeral, Pain, Satyricon, Vader (Pol), Marduk.

Now the band will embark on their own headline tour and as support they have Gothenburgian Inevitable End (Relapse Records) and two up and coming acts from Umeå’s record label Discouraged Records namely Terrortory and System Annihilated both of which are currenty with new releases.

ZONARIA: ‘Silent Holocaust’ Video Released

“Silent Holocaust”, the new video from Swedish death/black metallers ZONARIA, can be seen below. The clip was directed by Jakob Arevärn (MOBY, CARNAL FORGE, ADEPT, TRISTANIA, DRACONIA, DEAD BY APRIL) and was filmed 35 kilometers from the band’s hometown of Umeå.

Commented ZONARIA guitarist Emil Nyström: “We’ve been looking forward to working with Jakob for ages. He’s a really talented producer and director and we cant wait to show you the end result. It’s nuclear!”

ZONARIA Completes Work On Third Album

Swedish death/black metallers ZONARIA have completed work on their long-awaited third album for an early 2012 release. The CD was recorded in part at Abyss studio in Sweden with producer Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, SONIC SYNDICATE, HYPOCRISY, CENTINEX, CARNAL FORGE).

Comments bassist Max Malmer: “After recording for quite a long time, we are happy to be able to say that the final master of our third album is completed. A lot of meticulous work has been put into the songs, and because of that I believe that this is the best record that the band has ever produced so far! We want to specially thank Jonas Kjellgren, Per Nilsson and Ronnie Björnström for their help with production and mixing of the album.”

ZONARIA vocalist Simon Berglund previously stated about the upcoming CD: “I’m stoked about going into the studio with Jonas. He did an amazing job on [ZONARIA’s 2007 release] ‘Infamy And The Breed’ and has done some more incredible work with other bands. And not to mention recording in studio Abyss for the first time. Many of our all-time favorites have recorded in that studio and something magic always happens with the albums recorded there.”

ZONARIA’s second full-length album, “The Cancer Empire”, was released in the U.S. in January 2009 via Century Media Records.

Zonaria’s ‘Spinal Tap’-Worthy Moment Captured On Video

Swedish death/black metal band ZONARIA experienced quite a “Spinal Tap”-worthy moment outside Novara, Italy on their latest European tour supporting NILE. They were playing the last song in their set and the circuit breaker to the entire venue blew on the last down beat of the song, in perfect sync, as if planned.

Guitarist Caleb Bingham states about the event: “The Gods must certainly detest us at least a bit less than previously thought because they’ve obviously listened to our music enough times to hit the breaker box in perfect sync with the end of our set. Thanks, guys.”
