SLIPKNOT, IN FLAMES, MASTODON, OPETH, SONATA ARCTICA and STAM1NA are the first confirmed bands for the Finnish installment of the Sonisphere festival, set to take place July 2, 2011 at Kalasatama in Helsinki.
A severe thunderstorm hit Sonisphere festival in Pori, Finland last August. Strong gusts of freak wind damaged the stages and knocked down tents and fences. Around 40 people were injured, two of them seriously, and received treatment in hospital. The second stage was damaged beyond repair and to guarantee the safety of the audience, artists and crew the authorities closed the stage. The storm damaged MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s equipment, forcing the band’s show to be cancelled. IGGY POP did play, performing an acoustic four-track set on the main stage, while the Sonisphere crew worked hard behind the scenes to dry everything out and make repairs to damage across the site.
Swedish all-femail metal band FRANTIC AMBER has issued the following press release:
Pure, relentless, frantic – Swedish all-female metal band Frantic Amber pushes the boundaries harder and faster with the release of their debut 5 track EP, “Wrath of Judgement”.
The release of a video clip for the title track “Wrath of Judegment”(can be viewed below) in late 2010 generated enormous worldwide interest in the band and led to the decision to release the 5 track EP rather than wait for completion of a full length album. Guitarist Mary says “We are so happy and proud to finally get our EP released! Looking back on all our hard work and seeing it has paid off feels great!”.
In support of the release, the band are taking to the road in March 2011 and heading to Russia. Vocalist Elizabeth comments “We are ever so grateful for all the support we’ve seen from all the people around the world and can’t wait to go out on tour to share our music with you all!”
The concept of Frantic Amber was created in 2008 by guitarist Mary, looking to create an all-female band with the power and attitude more commonly associated with male metal bands. Drawing members from different nations together in Stockholm, the band spend 2010 writing, recording and gigging. The EP “Wrath of Judgement” is the end result of that process.
Australian metal label BlueFreya Media is an independent label specialising in worldwide digital and physical distribution and promotion. BlueFreya is proud to have the chance to work with a band with the amazing energy and dynamics that Frantic Amber bring to their music.
“Hollow”, the new video from Finland’s ROTTEN SOUND, can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Casper Haugegaard of Jawbreaker Productions. The song comes off the band’s new full-length album, “Cursed”, which will be released on March 15 via Relapse Records(except in Finland, where it will arrive on March 16 through Fullsteam Records). The 16-track follow-up to 2008’s “Cycles” was recorded at Nordic Audio Labs and is lyrically themed around the six curses of mankind. Source: Blabbermouth.net
