THE FALLEN DIVINE: ‘Shades Of Oppression’ Video Released

Oslo, Norway-based progressive/extreme metallers THE FALLEN DIVINE will releas their debut album, “The Binding Cycle”, on May 18 via Indie Recordings. The CD was recorded with Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND guitarist) at his Sonic Train studios in Varberg, Sweden and mixed by Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, NIGHTINGALE).

According to a press release, THE FALLEN DIVINE‘s music “contains strong progressive elements, as well as influences from a wide spectrum of genres such as death metal, black metal, symphonic metal, folk music and other genres. . . It’s difficult to categorize their sound, but descriptions like ‘melodic,’ ‘dynamic’ and ‘complex’ are often used.”

“The Binding Cycle” contains eight musically strong songs and is a considerable step forward from the group’s previous EP, “The Eternal Past And Future”, which was released in 2010.

Commented Swanö: “[This is] another example that proves that Scandinavia rule the progressive death metal scene. Dynamic and bombastic, just the way I like it. These guys have a bright future ahead!”

Former MARDUK/DIMENSION ZERO Frontman To Guest On New SARGATANAS REIGN Album

Swedish death metallers SARGATANAS REIGN have announced that Joakim Göthberg, the former frontman for DIMENSION ZERO and MARDUK, will guest on the upcoming SARGATANAS REIGN CD, “Godwork”. The band states, “[Joakim] had some great ideas for the vocals on his two tracks and his voice is angrier then ever. You will be blown away by his performance!”

Also making a guest appearance on “Godwork” are Mathias Lillmåns, the frontman of FINNTROLL, THE INIQUITY DECENT and MAGENTA HARVEST; SCAR SYMMETRY singer Roberth Karlsson; as well as one other vocalist, to be named later. Source: Blabbermouth.net

 

LAKEI: Entire Debut Album Available For Streaming

“Konspirasjoner”, the debut album from the Bergen, Norway-based “hardcore punk sludge metal” band LAKEI, is available for streaming in ints entirety HERE. The CD will be released on April 20 via Indie Recordings.

An Indie Recordings press release describes LAKEI‘s sound in the following way: “Paranoid apocalyptic premonitions. Nuclear war. Massive environmental destruction and corrupt world leaders. Lakei from Bergen, Norway dwell in an angst filled and aggressive dimension; a world in collapse where oppressors feast on the gagged carcass of man. Dystopian nightmares materialize through a straggling offensive of towering bass lines, distorted barb wire guitar attacks and twisted, crass vocals. Imagine AMEBIX and AXEGRINDER dismembering NEUROSIS on an altar of early black metal, wrapped in shadowy post-hardcore, and you might get the gist of it.”

The story of “Lost In The New Real” follows Mr. L, a 21st-Century man who was cryopreserved at the moment of clinical death from a terminal disease. The album begins as Mr. L is being revived at a point in the distant future, when technology has advanced enough to cure his disease. Mr L finds himself in a world that has drastically changed — to the point that the line between what’s real and what’s not is no longer clear.

Mr. L‘s appointed psychological advisor (played by legendary screen actor Rutger Hauer) is tasked with helping him emotionally adapt to this strange new world. The songs on CD1 follow the main character Mr. L‘s emotional journey as he is confronted with both serious and comical aspects of the “New Real”, and desperately tries to decide if he can find a meaningful place within it.

CD2 is a mix of songs that are part of the concept but didn’t fit on CD1, and cover songs that are (more or less) related to the concept. As Arjen‘s fans have come to expect, informative and humorous “behind-the-scenes” videos are added to both CDs as CD-ROM tracks. This beautiful two-CD limited-edition mediabook is illustrated by the striking artwork of Claudio Bergamin.

Lucassen recently enlisted the talents of legendary screen actor Rutger Hauer as the narrator on “Lost In The New Real”.

“This is a dream come true,” said Arjen. “Rutger is not only one of my favorite actors, he also starred in my all-time favorite sci-fi movie, ‘Blade Runner’.”

Rutger also enjoyed the collaboration with Arjen, saying, “[Arjen] connected with me when he was working on his new album. Said he was a big fan and wanted to see if I could do the voiceover. This happened over just a few weeks and it was marvelous work, very creative. I hope you enjoy it.”

ROB ZOMBIE Launches ‘My Name Is Eugene’ On Nerdist Channel

Rocker-turned-director Rob Zombie has joined forces with the newly launched Nerdist Channel to bring you “My Name Is Eugene”, a new comedy series.

“My Name Is Eugene” follows the sad and hilarious life of Eugene S. Van Dekak, an angry, sex-starved television repairman living in Eagle Rock, California. Cry not for our hapless hero, Eugene has dreams beyond broken electronics and his lost love Julie… he dreams of the big time. What exactly his idea of the big time is, well, you will have to tune in an find out. Check out one of the many touching songs he’s written about his lost love Julie in the YouTube clip below.

Zombie‘s latest film, “The Lords Of Salem”, is currently in the final stages of post-production and promises to be Zombie‘s most insane film yet. “I am enjoying taking my time finishing this film. I hate rushing things at this stage of the process, so it is a luxury to take it slow and really fine-tune every part of the production,” stated Zombie. No release date is set yet for the film.
