Netherlands-based OBSIDIAN has issued the following update:
Sad but inevitable news from Obsidian. After more than a year of searching for inspiration and energy to re-ignite the metal machine, the oil would not flow anymore. After our latest release “Point of Infinity” we noticed that our musical focus had shifted. We thought about (and tried) changing our direction, creating a new set list. Basically to start over again. But we could not find the energy needed to pull something like this off. Individually we still spend a lot of time in making music, so our creative hearts won’t stop beating, although it might not be for the same genre in some cases. So, from the more than a few bands called Obsidian, there will be one less. We hope that people have enjoyed the music we brought out and urge people to not harm themselves in light of this new perspective of a world without Obsidian. We want to thank everybody who helped Obsidian directly or by just making wind by hair to our music.
According to True Metalhead, Adam “Nergal” Darski, frontman of extreme blackened death outfit BEHEMOTH, has become the new spokesman for energy drink called Demon in his native Poland.
Before Nergal could even put his face on the product, the relationship is already causing controversy and backlash in Poland. There are organizations prepared to boycott the launch.
“We want this brand to surprise people while we have fun with marketing communications,” says Marek Sypek, chairman and managing director of Agros-Nova, the company that is said to be licensing the product from Demon‘s manufacturer in New Zealand. “We want it to be controversial, but taken with a grain of salt.”
Demon‘s product logo contains a pentagram and Nergal will be appearing in the advertising campaigns in his BEHEMOTH stage attire. Featuring the slogan “No Limits – No Laws,” the campaign will include four tempting flavors and one low price.
With the face of Nergal (known as “Holocausto” in the campaign), who is known for his anti-Christian views and allegations of public blasphemy, the manufacturer wants to gain a strong position in a competitive market for energy drinks.
Darski was found innocent last August of offending religious feelings in connection with a September 2007 incident when he reportedly called the Catholic Church “the most murderous cult on the planet” during the band’s performance in Gdynia and tore up a copy of the Bible, calling it “a book of lies.”
A Polish judge ruled on August 18, 2011 that Darski‘s ripping up of a Bible during a show was a form of artistic expression consistent with the style of his band.
Judge Krzysztof Wieckowski said he considered Darski‘s actions “a form of art.” He added that the court had no intention of limiting freedom of expression or the right to criticize religion.
I AM I are playing an Acoustic show at Bloodstock as well as their main stage show on Saturday 11th.
They play the Main stage at 12 noon then will be at the signing tent from 1.30 until 2pm doing a signing session, and will then be back at 7pm on the Jager stage for a half hour accoustic show. This is going to be one crazy busy day for the band but they’re really stoked about doing it and can’t wait to play!
Make sure you catch them at both shows to see just how truly great these guys are, with or without power!
HARD ROCK HELL slot now confirmed!
We are also delighted to announce that I AM I have now been confirmed to play Saturday evening, 1st December at HARD ROCK HELL.
With things really starting to take off for I AM I, you can expect another storming performance from them at this fantastic festival in the heart of Wales as they rock out hard enough to keep any winter chills at bay!

Ancient Ascendant are pioneering a fusion of old school principles with modern dynamics and power, bringing together the unholy trinity of groove, melody and extremity under one flag. Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut EP “The Heathen Throne”, Ancient Ascendant have opened for black metal monsters 1349, death metal legends Bolt Thrower (who personally invited the band to support them), Fleshgod Apocalypse, Blood Red Throne, Aeon, Cerebral Bore, Amputated and Dyscarnate. 2011 was a hugely successful year for Ancient Ascendant, which saw them sign to Siege of Amida Records and release their highly rated debut album “The Grim Awakening”, as well as signing to the renowned Factory Music agency. The focus for the first part of 2012 was to get back into the studio to begin work on the follow up to ‘The Grim Awakening’. The resulting sessions spawned ‘Into The Dark’, the bands latest and most focused body of work to date. ‘Into The Dark’ is the crushing new release from British death metal standard bearers Ancient Ascendant. Brought to life under the expert guidance of the legendary Dan Swano (Opeth, Dark Funeral, Bloodbath, Katatonia, Marduk etc…) ‘Into The Dark’ sees the band raising the bar in every conceivable way. The band is also performing at Bloodstock Open Air Festival on the Sophie Lancaster Stage on the Sunday.
The first track on the EP is ‘The Veil’ an eerie but well done piece of instrumental, it does not prepare you for the full on assault until near the end of it which in turns goes straight into the second song ‘Blood Calls’,the song has some very good harsh vocals, the guitar work is superb with melodic riffs and intricate solos. The drums pounding the rhythms along with the guitars makes this a quality start to the EP and I’m very impressed with this so far. The Third song on the EP is ‘Driven By The Dark‘ which starts off with a cracking guitar riff before the harsh vocals come in then it all slows down a little with some good riffs before the pace quickens once again. This really is a quality song it gives you a bit of everything good, vocals, superb riffs, solos and pounding drum beats. The Forth song on the EP is ‘Casting The Shroud Aside‘ the song starts off with the sound of the wind with the drums giving a little beat before the vocals and guitars break in. The songs harsh vocals are a joy to behold on this EP they just keep getting better and better whilst the guitar work is brilliantly full of fantastic riffs and solos. The drums and bass keep the rhythms perfectly all the way through the song. The Fifth and final song on the EP is ‘Under Ancient Stone’ which goes straight for the throat with it pounding drums fantastic riffs and solos. The vocals on this song have picked up the pace a bit but goes very well with the rhythm and guitars riffs. Towards the end of the song you have a quality bass section which then goes straight back into the main riffs without skipping a beat.
Overall
Although I don’t normally listen to much Death Metal these guys have really turned my head and I can see why these have been announced for the Sophie Lancaster Stage at the Bloodstock Open Air Festivaland based on the performance of this Ep these guys are going a long long way. In my opinion this was a great Ep full of harsh vocals, superb riffs, solos, pounding drums and basses throughout.
This is a true gem of the Death Metal Genre so keep an eye out for these as they will blow you away

1.Hey Alex, welcome to Metal Shock Finland! How are you, and what are you doing right now?
Hello! Thank you for the invitation! at the moment our team is working on a notorious project, which we plan to record in the studio this year. Now a lot of work and I have to appreciate every moment.
2. First let’s talk about the early years. How was the Alex Sigmer band formed?
Our group was formed in 1999 and was known as Deimos. the main theme – the consistent celebration of personified space Objects. thereafter, we expanded the number of thematic focus of the group. albums such as In Heaven and Mortuary Refrigerator – a vivid example of this. Formation of the group – it is a long and complicated process, so one can not say how the collective was formed. It is most likely permanent work of several people, united by a common idea.
Helsinki Vampires, THE 69 EYES, have revealed the tracklist of the bands upcoming album, „X“, which is set to be unleased September 28, 2012 via Nuclear Blast.
