Nickelback will perform two songs live at the 2012 NHL Awards, which will be held tomorrow night – Wednesday, June 20 – at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. The band’s latest single, “This Means War,” was extensively featured during the Stanley Cup Finals this year. The NHL Awards will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network, starting at 7 PM EST.
“As die-hard hockey fans, we can never get enough of the NHL, even when we’re on tour. And there is nothing more exciting for hockey fans than the Playoffs. The NHL Awards is the culmination of celebrating the best players and moments the season has produced. We’re honored and humbled to perform at the 2012 NHL Awards in Las Vegas,” said Nickelback frontman Chad Kroegerin April, when the performance was announced.

New York cult metal band BLACKSMITH, featuring guitarist David Smith, vocalist Malcolm “Mania” Lovegrove, drummer Chris Caglione, and new bassist John Dodge, recently entered the studio to begin work on what will be the band’s third full-length album. Tentatively untitled, the CD will contain the first new BLACKSMITH material since 1990’s “Time Out Of Mind” for Tropical Records, which at the time was shelved and not released until this month through Heaven And Hell Records. The new album will consist of several new tracks, a planned cover of the BLACK SABBATH classic “Electric Funeral”, and a re-recorded version of the song “Broken Bastard” (now titled “Broken Master”) recorded for a Dean Guitars tribute to “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott.
