RUBICON CROSS have released the new single ‘Locked And Loaded’, which coincides with the CodeMasters DIRT Showdown video game on which the new track is featured.
Written and performed by CJ Snare (FOREHOUSE) and Chris Green (FURYON) this song is a follow-up to their 2011 Limited Edition EP. The track also features Simon Farmery on bass and was recorded at SnareBear Studios and mixed and mastered by Rick Beato at Black Dog Studios.
This track is a taste of what the sound of their first full CD will be. The anticipated set will be available late summer or fall of 2012.
Panagiotis Karagiannidis from Metal Paths spoke with SLAYER drum legend Dave Lombardo recently about a number of topics including his new PHILM project. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
Metal Paths: That was the first question I wanted to ask you, about Jeff’s (Hanneman) health and how is it going with Gary Holt (EXODUS)…
Lombardo: “Gary is an amazing guitar player. We love Gary and we really appreciate all of the help he has given us while Jeff is getting better.”
Metal Paths: When exactly do you think that Jeff is gonna be back?
Lombardo: “I really don’t know. Nobody knows… Until he feels better and the doctor says ‘go’…”
Metal Paths: That’s the most important, the fact that he feels better. So how has been touring with Big 4 so far? Is there any special story you’d like to share with the fans?
Lombardo: “I’m really having a nice time with Lars (Ulrich) and James (Hetfield) and (Robert) Trujillo and Dave (Mustaine) visited us in our dressing room, I go visit them. It’s a very, very nice friendship and relationship, me and Lars we get along great and I don’t like people talking shit about Lars! They have to stop! There are a lot of fans out there who like to say a lot of bad things about him and he’s a very good friend of mine and I don’t like it.”
Metal Paths: You recently had a special show in London playing Reign In Blood in it’s entirety. What were the fans’ reactions?
Lombardo: “They loved it!”
Metal Paths: And how has been for you playing entire this album?
Lombardo: “Oh I loved playing that album. I like playing it because I can play it really fast and I like to play fast because of Kerry (King). He enjoys that album too.”
Metal Paths: Would you like to do something like that in the future with another album this time?
Lombardo: “Oh we did Seasons In The Abyss, and I don’t know if it’ll ever happen with another record.”
Metal Paths: An EP is going to be released this summer. Do you have any details regarding the release date or something?
Lombardo: “No…no details (Laughs). Everything is already known as I said before. I really don’t know any details.”
A four-minute video clip in which KING DIAMOND members Andy LaRocque (guitar), Mike Wead (guitar) and Hal Patino (bass) talk about the stage production for the band’s performances at Sweden Rock Festival and Hellfest can be seen below.

Legendary Danish heavy metal singer King Diamond (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE) (real name: Kim Bendix Petersen), 55, underwent open-heart triple-bypass surgery in November 2010. He has since completed his cardiac rehabilitation program and has stopped smoking entirely, changed his diet and is getting regular exercise, according to his wife Livia Zita.
King Diamond made his long-anticipated return to the stage with his MERCYFUL FATE bandmates Hank Shermann, Timi Hansen and Michael Denner on December 7, 2011 at the second of four intimate shows at the Fillmore in San Francisco as part of METALLICA‘s week-long celebration of its 30th anniversary as a band for fan club members only.
King Diamond played a surprise three-song set on January 27 at Tree’s in Dallas, Texas during the “5th Annual Nomad Recording Studio Throwdown”. King, who appeared without his trademark makeup, was joined for the performance by Michael Harris on guitar, Neil Brincks on bass, J.T. Longoria on guitar and Matt Thompson (KING DIAMOND, SHAOLIN DEATH SQUAD) on drums. King also presented awards at the event, which featured additional performances by BORN & RAISED, SHAOLIN DEATH SQUAD, LOVE STRICKEN DEMISE and RIVETHEAD.

As previously posted, Iced Earth Forced To Cancel Bangalore Open Air Festival Appearance. The Bangalore Open Air Festival team have released the following announcement: “It looks like the Indian government has once again decided to play spoilsport. We are extremely disappointed to announce that the mighty Iced Earth will not be performing at the Bangalore Open Air on June 16th 2012 due to the denial of their visas by the Indian Embassy. As to why the visas have been denied, well there has been no explanation forthcoming unfortunately.
Despite this setback the show will go on as scheduled and to soften the blow we have roped in the incredible folk metal maestros Suidakra to take Iced Earth’s place at Bangalore Open Air.
We humbly request all Indian metalheads to show up in force at Bangalore Open Air and stand together as one. The system may try and break us but we will not be defeated.
We sincerely thank you all for your patience and understanding and we hope to see each and every one you at the festival with your fists raised high.
In metal we trust.“
And also the organisers of the Bangalore Open Air Festival have released the following appeal to fans throught their Facebook page, following the news that Iced Earth had their visas declined and therefore cannot play the festival. ” Dear Metal brotherhood!!!
I think it is high time we raise our voice against the injustice that the live music industry is facing today in India!
Firstly, a ban on live events at palace grounds is a major setback to the ever supporting music fanatics and is causing a lot of inconvenience to loyal fans As though this is not bad enough, the Indian embassy is on a rampage in declining visas to immensely talented musicians and artists for whom you guys have been eagerly waiting for.
We seek your support in voicing a collective pledge against the concerned authorities. A shout out to all fans/organisers and mainly music lovers, we need your support in participating in a 8,000+ signature campaign which will be at the B.O.A arena for your valuable pledge. This petition is made by BOA Team and you are the ones to get us what we need to fight further.
All metal heads from all corners of INDIA , we want you all to start your march towards this campaign and support us to bring this change. Let’s roar for our music and get back what is being taken away from us. . Fight for music ,fight for the future.
UP THE METAL \m/ “

Camine Appice (ROD STEWART, VANILLA FUDGE, CACTUS), Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, KILL DEVIL HILL), Frankie Banali (QUIET RIOT), Fred Coury (CINDERELLA), Jimmy D’Anda (BULLETBOYS), Ray Luzier (KORN), Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, ADRENALINE MOB), Glen Sobel (ALICE COOPER), Brian Tichy (WHITESNAKE, S.U.N.) and Simon Wright (AC/DC, DIO) are among the musicians who paid tribute to legendary LED ZEPPELIN drummer John Bonham at “Bonzo’s Birthday Bash” this past Thursday, May 31 at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California.
Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be seen below.
After three groundbreaking tribute shows entitled “Bonzo: The Groove Remains The Same”, as well as popular demand and a collective passion and respect amongst all the participating drummers, past and present to Bonham, Brian Tichy and Joe Sutton have decided to go for it once again!
WHITESNAKE drummer and “Bonzo’s Birthday Bash” founder Brian Tichy previously stated about the event, “When I first thought of this, the idea seemed too cool and simple NOT to try; get a John Bonham replica drum set, complete with gong and timpani, up front, center stage, and have each drummer perform their favorite LED ZEP song with a house band (THE MOBY DICKS). There are no rules other than to have fun putting your own groove and character into your song choice! It’s such a unique night, seeing how all these great drummers approach the same drum set making it their own! And THE MOBY DICKS hold their own as a true force to be reckoned with! We have structure and within the structure there is total freedom, making the pace and vibe of this show somewhere between a backyard party and a…. backyard party with a killer band playing LED ZEP songs! Haha! Our previous shows were named ‘The Groove Remains The Same’, but this tribute falls on Bonzo‘s exact birthday and we wanted to let that be known!
“I am a tried and true Zep Head; a total Bonzo freak! Bonzo is my lifelong most ‘listened to’ drummer! This is a labor of love. The camaraderie and ego-less respect amongst all involved is something very rare to be a part of these days. Ask any of us! We’ve never been part of a show quite like this before! There has never been a tribute like this to a musician before! John Bonham deserves it! Bonzo’s Birthday Bash is the ultimate tribute show and that’s that!”
THE MOBY DICKS lineup:
* Michael Devin (WHITESNAKE) – bass (Whitesnake)
* Stephen LeBlanc (JASON BONHAM’S LED ZEP EXPERIENCE) – keyboards
* Keith St. John (MONTROSE) – Vocals
* Brian Tichy (S.U.N.) – Guitar, Drums
* Brent Woods (BRENTWOOD FOREST) – Lead And Rhythm Guitars
