Bass Guitar Magazine, the U.K.’s only print publication devoted solely to the bass-playing community, has announced that Paolo Gregoletto of TRIVIUM and Michael McKeegan of THERAPY? will be writing monthly columns for the magazine from June.
Gregoletto, whose precision playing has earned him the acclaim of studio producers and engineers as well as other professional bass players, and McKeegan, whose fluid command of the low end has driven his band for over two decades, will be supplying advice on gear, technique and surviving life on the road. Look out for their first columns in Bass Guitar Magazine issue 80, out June 27.
Behind-the-scenes footage from the making of “Torn Apart”, the new video from Swedish metallers AVATAR, can be seen below. The song comes off the band’s fourth full-length album, “Black Waltz”, which was released on February 14 via eOne Music. The CD was produced by Tobias Lindell (EUROPE, MUSTASCH, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR) and includes songs from a limited-edition EP that was released in Sweden at the end of October 2011.
Commented AVATAR lead singer Johannes Eckerström: “If all violence was as in professional wrestling, I would get involved in way more fights. Hulk Hogan was one of my first heroes and made me want to spend my life doing insane things and be applauded for it. Backyard wrestling is not exactly a household expression here in Sweden, but on my street we went insane. I could pull off an awesome suplex by the age of nine. Standing on that tiny stage while our audience threw each other through tables was a rush and pretty much the best form of mosh pit I’ve ever experienced. They made it look awesome and the context we put it in made it truly epic. We’re not really supposed to afford making a music video this cool, but once again we’ve proven what’s possible when you realize your potential and make the most you possibly can of it. When life gives you lemonade, punch life in the face.”

“‘For the Warriors who fight and die… so the rest of us may fight to Live.’ This quote, which preludes the video itself, is a direct dedication to the brave men and women who serve in the United States military,” says OTHERWISE vocalist Adrian Patrick of the “Soldiers” video. “Their service allows our country’s citizens to pursue their individual ideas of happiness… this song and video celebrate the beauty that is America. ‘Soldiers’ is an anthem for everyone living on the front-lines of life; every soldier is human, and we’re all human… we are all fighting for something.”
OTHERWISE recently toured with POP EVIL and joined Century Media labelmates LACUNA COIL on the 2012 North American “Dark Legacy” trek.

Release date will be announced soon. It will take place between September and October 2012.
In words of the band: “Our new album is going to be much more brutal, technical and faster than our previous EP, not forgetting the mix of styles that defines Dark Confessions music”.
Ozzy Osbourne impersonator Little Ozzy auditioned for “America’s Got Talent” last night in front of Ozzy‘s wife, Sharon Osbourne, who is one of the judges on the talent competition. He sang “Mama I’m Comin’ Home” — a song Ozzy wrote especially for her.
“I have to tell you something. My husband is away from me right now, and it made me miss him even more by you singing me that song, so I really thank you,” Sharon said before declining to let him through to the next round.
Check out video footage of Little Ozzy‘s performance below.
Little Ozzy was created by Lin Doak, 45, an ex-MINIKISS member who left the band after four years of touring the country with them to create a new live act.
