Turku Distortion 2012 Rock/Metal festival will be held 16.6.2012 at Moisio sportsfield. Event is totally free for audience. The idea for making this was to increase the rock and metal culture in Turku-area and get talented bands to have a show on a bigger stage and for bigger crowd. For that to happen, we arranged few good sponsors and good connections to different field of providers, and couple of crowd-pullers.
We have Norther from Helsinki and great band from Spain, Ankor. Also few NHL, TPS and national hockey-team players will come to the show to have a hockey shooting competition with radar gun. They will sign gears for fans, such as real NHL shirt and TPS products. Plus all that, we have excellent beer tent that also serves food for hungry people.
So… we have 9 bands, attractions, great program, beer, food and hopefully great weather. All that for free! Blackdiamond of Metal Shock Finland has recently conducted an interview with bassist Marco Mendoza (THIN LIZZY) prior to starting his UK tour. Some of this conversation can be read below.
When asked about what the fans can expect from Marco’s tour starting today, he said – ‘Gonna play it by ear, we have 2 and a half hours worth of music so I’m gonna pick and choose. I think I’ll focus more on my original stuff cos that’s one of the reasons I’m out here. There’s a couple of things I’ll play that I totally love from Ted Nugent that I know the fans will love.’
Discussing future plans, Marco had this to say – ‘I’d like to do a power trio project, I think that’s in the works right now, without saying too much. That would be my next collaboration. We’ve been talking about this for a while and all my instincts tell me it’s going to happen, so that’s the next thing to look out for.‘

The story of “Lost In The New Real” follows Mr. L, a 21st-Century man who was cryopreserved at the moment of clinical death from a terminal disease. The album begins as Mr. L is being revived at a point in the distant future, when technology has advanced enough to cure his disease. Mr L finds himself in a world that has drastically changed — to the point that the line between what’s real and what’s not is no longer clear.
Mr. L‘s appointed psychological advisor (played by legendary screen actor Rutger Hauer) is tasked with helping him emotionally adapt to this strange new world. The songs on CD1 follow the main character Mr. L‘s emotional journey as he is confronted with both serious and comical aspects of the “New Real”, and desperately tries to decide if he can find a meaningful place within it.
CD2 is a mix of songs that are part of the concept but didn’t fit on CD1, and cover songs that are (more or less) related to the concept. As Arjen‘s fans have come to expect, informative and humorous “behind-the-scenes” videos are added to both CDs as CD-ROM tracks. This beautiful two-CD limited-edition mediabook is illustrated by the striking artwork of Claudio Bergamin.
Lucassen recently enlisted the talents of legendary screen actor Rutger Hauer as the narrator on “Lost In The New Real”.
“This is a dream come true,” said Arjen. “Rutger is not only one of my favorite actors, he also starred in my all-time favorite sci-fi movie, ‘Blade Runner’.”
Rutger also enjoyed the collaboration with Arjen, saying, “[Arjen] connected with me when he was working on his new album. Said he was a big fan and wanted to see if I could do the voiceover. This happened over just a few weeks and it was marvelous work, very creative. I hope you enjoy it.” Source: Blabbermouth.net
Artist: Embrace of Lord Single: Dead Serenity Year: 2012
Embrace of Lord is a melodic groove metal band which was founded in 2011 in Tehran, Iran. The band which focus mainly on the genre of Melodic Groove Metal have given us an early insight to their first track from their upcoming album.
‘Dead Serenity’ starts with high octane speed riffs typically that of Symphony X, add then the dark metal growls, and the lead melody lines and you get an overwhelming sense of extreme metal. As you progress the heaviness gets heavier, taking you into the likes of White Zombie or that of Agolloch. With super progressions, riffs, licks, and breakdowns this is an exceptional first look at a band which hopefully will be rated among the best metal bands in our world today.
If the album is as good as this first track then it will be something quite spectacular, and well worth the wait.

Italian drummer GEE ANZALONE has posted online a DARKEST HOUR -drum cover for “Your Everyday Disaster”, can be viewed below.
Gee Anzalone was born in Turin in 1984 and he started to play drums at 15 with his first band More-gun-A. He is known for his extreme hands (through the 140 bpm), extreme acrobatic sticks tricks and double bass speeds and technique. Gee become a drum teacher in 2005 after the ending of the NAM Music Academy where he studied with the Italian drummer legend Tullio De Piscopo. He doesn’t play just metal, but also rock music and many other genres.
He plays with BRAINDAMAGE (Thrash Metal Legends from Turin, Italy), 1NE DAY (Groove Metal Pioneers from Trieste, Italy) and THE UPPER CLASS BASTARDS (All Stars Rock band from Turin, Italy). In October 2011, he made the auditions at the Soundwave Studios – Oakland, trying to take the place of Gene Hoglan, Paul Bostaph and Mark Hernandez, drummers of the Bay Area Thrash Metal Legends FORBIDDEN.
