Legendary metallers BLACK SABBATH were honored with a Grammy in the “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance” category for their track ‘God Is Dead’ from their newest and come-back album,”13″ at Grammy Awards 2014. According to Blabbermouth.net, the BLACK SABBATH members did not personally accept the award at the pre-telecast ceremony because they were busy preparing to be one of the presenters during the main show. Pop singer Cyndi Lauper, who co-hosted the pre-telecast, said that she spoke with them prior to the event and that they were grateful for the honor. “I know that Ozzy is not here and I saw them last night,” she said. “They asked me to accept this award for them. It’s awesome. And I’m sure he thanks the Academy. They had to be next door to do something. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everybody.”
The bands ANTHRAX, DREAM THEATER and VOLBEAT featuring legendary vocalist King Diamond were also nominated for this category.
Legendary rockers LED ZEPPELIN were also honored a Grammy in the “Rock album” category for the band’s live album, “Celebration Day,” which was released on 19 November 2012. LED ZEPPELIN celebrated their 45th anniversary last year on September 7, 2013. The bands and artists such as Neil Young, BLACK SABBATH and David Bowie were also nominated for this category at the Grammy Awards 2014.
The winners of the Grammy Awards 2014 were announced on Sunday during ceremonies at the Nokia Theatre and Staples Center.
