Buyers in the market for a rock star mansion are being given the chance to snap up Tony Iommi’s luxury Midland home – for a cool £3 million.
The BLACK SABBATH guitarist’s house in the Warwickshire village of Lapworth – a six-bedroom, 8,000sq ft Edwardian residence – is being sold by John Shepherd estate agents.
The property, Netherwood, is described as having original features, including stained glass, leaded light panels and open fireplaces, with extensive gardens and grounds covering six acres.
It is believed the mansion, built in 1905, has been on the market for a number of months.
Iommi revealed downsizing was a possibility when he spoke to the Birmingham Mail in November 2012 about his much publicised battle with cancer. He said: “Maybe it’s time to scale down anyway and try to live more of a peaceful life.”
Sitting alongside the house’s traditional features are some far more modern additions befitting a rock star’s home.
The palatial property also comes with a fully self-contained annexe, which includes a purpose-built recording studio, as well as a home cinema. The annexe also has a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and en suite.
The main house is also fitted with a “sophisticated sound and music system” and provision for flat screen televisions to most rooms. It also comes with a “comprehensive CCTV and security system”.
