AIRBORN are a great heavy/power metal band from Turin, Italy. “Dark Future Rising” is their fourth studio album to date (mastering and guest appearance by Piet Sielck of Iron Savior), after “Against the World” (2001), “D-Generation” (2003) and the sensational “Legend of Madog” (2009).
In December 2012, to celebrate the 10th year of their debut album and to remember late bass player Alberto Leschi, “Demos & Rarities Collection” was released.
The album starts with a power trio of songs – “They Arise”, “Mess We’re In” and “Reign of the Human Race” (the first single)-that will blow your face away. A total blast!
“Sword of Justice”, the fourth track, lead by great riffing, has a brilliant chorus that will stick in your mind in all its greatness. Probably one of the best songs on this album.
The nice “Nitehawk” leads to “King of Fear”, with its great chorus, and to the haunting “Dark Future”, enriched by the brilliant guitar work of Roberto Capucchio and Alessio Perardi.
The intense “Solar Messiah” shows some interesting songwriting ideas and a powerful riffing.
The ninth track “Forces of Nature” is direct like a punch in the stomach and confirms Domenico Buratti’s skills on bass.
Interesting pieces like “Jack of all Trades” and “Bonecrusher” lead us to “Wild and Free”, a classic power metal track with a catchy chorus and the strong drumming of Roberto Gaia. Pure power metal for all the headbangers out there!
“Resurrection” starts with a fantastic intro destined to accompany you into a grandiose musical journey.
The album ends with two bonus tracks: “Metal Nation” and “Things of the Past”, an awesome song with some acoustic parts.
In conclusion, this is a must-have album! One of the best releases in 2014.
