Rich Davenport’s Rock Show this week features a SCORPIONS special with Rudolf Schenker, and an interview with CHINA SKY vocalist/guitarist Ron Perry, and is now available for streaming below.
This week’s show opens with a Scorpions special, featuring founding member, guitarist Rudolf Schenker, who discusses the band’s 50th anniversary, and looks back on their earliest days, after recently finding an account book from September 1965, in which his mother recorded the band’s earnings and expenses. Rudolf also gives an insight into the writing and recording of the band’s new album “Return to Forever”, on which they revisited and then developed song ideas originally generated in the late 70s and early 80s, which in turn inspired them to write new tracks. In addition to playing 3 songs from the new album chosen by Mr Schenker, Rich also turns the spotlight on Rudolf in his occasional role as lead guitarist, with two classic tracks on which he plays the solos.
The show also features an interview with China Sky vocalist Ron Perry, looking at the band’s remarkable return with the “China Sky II” album, 25 years after they split up shortly after the release of their debut album. After receiving emails from fans and discovering that their first record was now a cult classic, the band have returned (with former Molly Hatchet drummer Bruce Crump now in the ranks) with an album that’s receiving acclaim from fans and reviewers alike, and you can hear Ron’s choice of 2 songs from the new release after the interview.
